This place is a great spot for a work week lunch! That said, ramen is good (enough) but dont expect craft ramen like Hiro nori... prices are fair and I love that they serve dimsum, ramen, and hawaiian food. Staff is friendly and food is always consistent.
My husband and I came here for dinner around 6pm and the restaurant was half full. They don't seat you right away but ask that you order at the kiosk with a cashier first, which is a little bit strange but not too bad. The restaurant provides a menu in front of the register on a table, but the table is a little large so it's a little awkward reviewing the order on the kiosk and then paying because you have to lean over a bit. The cashier was polite though and told us to sit down anywhere and we picked a table nearby. The ramen came out very quickly! It hadn't even been five minutes before my miso ramen and my husband's miso ramen arrived. We were very surprised. My miso ramen was okay. The broth had a good miso flavor and the chashu pork was tender but a bit too salty for my taste. I liked that the ramen came with a hefty pile of beansprouts on top, although I would have liked more green onions or scallions on top for color. The ramen egg was marinated nicely and I could taste the umami flavor from the soy sauce it was marinated in. It is cooked a little more for a ramen egg than I'd like (I prefer my ramen eggs to have a runny, golden yolk when I eat my ramen) but the flavor of the ramen egg made up for it. My husband and I were surprised that this establishment also offers dim sum so we ordered a side of shrimp dumplings (hargow). The menu does have a note that any dim sum takes about 8 - 10 minutes to make, so it came out after our ramen. We were a little confused when the waiter brought out a plate of pork and shrimp siumai, but my husband inquired and it turned out they had given us the incorrect dish. The waiter apologized and a few minutes later we were given our shrimp dumplings. They were steaming hot and served in a bamboo serving. Taste-wise, they were okay with a mild shrimp flavor and a stronger ginger flavor. I noticed biting into it that the minced ginger had a couple of larger chunks that overpowered the shrimp. It was interesting to have dim sum at a ramen shop, but I don't think I'd ever order this again. It was a nice place for a quick bite for dinner. I'd maybe go there again if I wanted something to eat and was in the area.
Gave this place another try after 2 years. Ordered the chicken ramen because it looked interesting. Very generous meat to noodle ratio but I couldn't finish...bland broth, not rich and robust as ramen should be...tonkatsu ramen also seemed watered down...will pass on a return visit
Have been meaning to try this ramen spot for quite a while. The menu is definitely interesting too as I don't know any other place that has both ramen and hawaiian food. It's also a quick service - order before sitting down and your food comes out in 2 minutes. We got the black garlic ramen (medium spice), which was super tasty but not spicy at all, and the tonkotsu ramen (mild spice), which was rather bland. It tasted more like chicken than pork. Lots of appetizers to choose from so we tried the lumpia. Would not get again. Bland as well and dipping sauce was just your chinese restaurant packets. Water cups were red solo cups - that was fun! Love that it's a family business all around and would definitely come back to try the hawaiian side of the menu!
My review is for their party trays order and experience. Overall, very easy to order on their online portal and the descriptions are laid out easy to base decisions on. Food was pretty decent. I ordered small bbq chicken, but it was more saucy than I expected. I thought it was gonna be sauce-less. I also ordered a small tray of Mac salad. It was pretty decent as well, but could do with more flavor. It's not as good as L&L Mac salad. Pick up - I believe it was easy and fast, but I didn't personally go myself. Price/quantity - for price and quantity and quality. This is a great place to do catering. Large trays of food that are pretty good and should please majority of ppl.
Really yummy! We ordered the black garlic ramen, grilled squid, Agedashi tofu and a barbecue chicken and katsu plate. Large portions! Service was fast, food was HOT. Casual setting.
We visited during the week and there was plenty of parking. I ordered the chicken Katsu plate which came with broccoli, lots of rice, and small portion of Mac salad. I did like what I ordered the chicken Katsu with the sauce was good but it was a little too crunchy, the broccoli was healthy and I wish it was seasoned or had butter, and the Mac salad was good I feel like it's missing something maybe pepper, and the BBQ chicken was really yummy. I tried my bf's ribs and I tried kind of a fatty piece but it tasted good. The service was fast and the ambiance was chill, I would recommend if you're in the area!
First time here. I ordered the black garlic ramen and it was delicious. It was full of flavor and It was so good I wanted to eat the bowl . Im glad I found ramen 101 on yelp and pictures didnt lie. The service was very fast I got my food in less then 10 minutes and it was under $25. I will definitely come back for lunch or even diner . If your in the milpitas MCCARTHY ranch area give this place a shot
*First time review, DoorDashed* Honestly pretty shocked this place delivered from Milpitas to Cambrian Park! I paid a $1.99 long distance fee but didn't realize this place was in Milpitas until now! The amount of ramen and chicken I got is pretty crazy... I got the garlic tonkatsu broth medium spicy and chicken. I specified I did not want sprouts or mushrooms and they did not include them, so thank you! Taste was really good and believe it or not, it was still hot even though it took 30 mins to get to me. 100% would order again
Food is delicious. Many options to choose from; from ramen to dim sum, pork buns, and sautéed dishes. I like that it's a relaxed atmosphere and no one is rushing you to leave. On a different note, it would be great to add a hook to the bathroom door so people can hang their belongings, add a diaper changing station, and a lil windex goes a long way on mirrors.
Short rib had been calling my name all day long. So I checked Yelp for Hawaiian BBQ places between my office and my hotel. Ramen 101 was at the top of the list and had such pretty food pictures. When I entered, the restaurant was not very busy. As I browsed the menu, I realized that I was going to have a tough choice. I knew I wanted short rib, but I started thinking that the short rib would be lonely on the table. For this reason, I ordered the whole grilled squid to keep my short rib company. Both dishes were made to order and they tasted great. Quantity-wise, the portions were generous and I came nowhere near finishing either plate. My only gripe had to do with the amount of fat on the short rib. Maybe the cow should have hit tbt gym. Regardless, I had to cut around quite a bit. During my meal, the dining room was mostly empty; however, there was a steady stream of pick-up orders. Overall, I liked this place and definitely want to go back to try more items on the menu!
Ramen was so delicious and packed with toppings, however I wish they packed the bowl with a little more chashu pork. I feel like there was a lot more noodles than I would've wanted toppings but it still met my hunger satisfaction. Chicken Karaage was crispy, juicy, and mild in portion as well. Ambiance is a bit small but it gives you the comfort and warmth, especially if you're dining alone. Service was fast, friendly, and accommodating as usual! Definitely coming back here again
We had the Garlic and Tonkotsu Ramen with medium spice, and it tasted incredible! The broth was rich and garlicky, and we loved that it was served piping hot. Definitely recommend this spot!
Hawaiian BBQ mix is pretty darn good. Better than expected. But dry rice. How do you mess up rice? . The Ramen: avoid at all cost if you like great Ramen! This review saddens me to write. No offense to the Yelpers, but this is about the worst Ramen possible. How could y'all lead me astray so badly?!? Lousy, bland noodles with broth out of a box it seems that's gritty and leaves a weird taste in the mouth as you'd expect from a dried seasoning mix made in a factory 5k miles away. You'd assume the Seafood Ramen would have an even better taste than Shiyo, Miso and Tonkatsu. But sadly, no. Before we could finish half of it, the kitchen staff kept dropping the huge bowls. I guess that's a cue to leave. What a colossal disappointment. The subtitle to "Ramen 101" is: "Hawaiian BBQ and Ramen" Truer words could not have not been said do succinctly. They definitely lead with the Hawaiian BBQ and the Ramen was clearly a distant afterthought. I was going to say that maybe it's called "Ramen 101" as this shows the ranking in the Top 100 Ramen places in California and it missed the cut. To be fair, M did say that she's had worse Ramen; that was in Boise, Idaho. That's a pretty low bar! read more
I placed an order for take out: tonkotsu, shoyu and black garlic ramen. The ratio of broth and noodles are slightly off. The broth was almost Jo to the brim of the bowl. The tonkotsu broth was flavorful. Shoyu was a bit salty but adding more water eased the saltiness. The egg was a 13 min hard boiled egg than soft boiled. For 3 ramens, it was only $50, not bad. Service was quick and they took my phone order a little before 11 am, their scheduled open time. read more

I was looking for ramen places with vegetarian options and this place popped up! I am a die hard ramen fan and love trying out new places. I got the vegetarian ramen with no corn and my sister got the vegetarian ramen with chicken. I got the spicy level, but it honestly could've been even more spicy. I loved the noodles and the broth, they were super flavorful. I've never tried the mushrooms that were in the ramen, but I was pleasantly surprised. I wish the tofu was fried and less sprouts, but I really enjoyed this place. I usually have a tough time finishing the whole bowl, but I finished all of it and I was super content! read more

The service was fast and the servers where energetic and friendly. The restaurant was okay on the cleanness and its not really spacious so its best arrive early. The food was very yummy and flavorful. The deep fried oysters were a little but it was still delicious and crispy. Cool place to check out before heading to the niner game. read more
Not bad, selection is good if you have a large group that wants Hawaiian or Ramen. Ordering is pretty easy to do as you walk up and didn't feel rushed to order. There are plenty of seating in the restaurant and parking is no problem too. I typically stick to chicken teriyaki since my diet has changed. They give a good amount for the price and the service is pretty quick. read more

The food was hot, fresh and good portion. They have good visuals to help you choose. It was also fast and I got everything I asked for (it was to go) I had teriyaki chicken plate and it was a great value. Saw the ramen being served. Looked good. I'll be back when I'm in the area. read more
This isn't the most beautiful place, but service is alright and works fast or faster to get orders out to customers. Food was pretty good. My Hawaiian plate lunch with chicken katsu had generous portions for my post-workout meal. I was stuffed. I'll try their ramen and Japanese appetizers next time. read more

Wait, is this place a joke? Are all the good reviews even real? I just got ramen from here and... what the heck was that? It tasted like dirty water. No flavor, the noodles were horrible, there was a weird fishy smell, and the worst part: the egg wasn't marinated and it was well done! Literally the most disgusting ramen I have ever had. We just left all our food there, about $40 worth. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Just awful. You're better off making top ramen at home. We ended up going to another ramen place immediately after to save our taste buds. It was THAT bad. read more

This has to be my all time favorite ramen place! I've tried many different restaurants and so far this is my favorite! It is definitely one of those "hold in the wall" places but it has such a great vibe and you can tell that the crew there really care about their customers! The food is amazing and I definitely recommend this place if you're looking for some good ramen! Service is quick and their rice is just Amazing!!! read more

This is a great Ramen spot with excellent portions, prices and food full of flavor. We came for lunch today and I ordered their tonkatsu ramen while my wife had their black garlic. Both were creamy, had enough ramen noodles, meat, veggies, etc. Ramen is about $13 each. We also loved their crab rangoon; it's freshly fried and crispy wonton shell with creamy inside filling is just tasty. I highly recommend ordering this appetizer to start the course. I'm so glad there is a Ramen 101 in the Antioch area so that we can come anytime to have more! read more

Another ramen shop that just open two months ago, but this one specialized in Hawaiian BBQ and ramen and their prices are very reasonable not as pricey as some of the Japanese ramen shops. Came by this afternoon and I order the chicken katsu that comes with two scoops of steamed rice, macaroni along with side veggies for only $12.00 that is extremely cheap along with six crispy prawn tempura for $8.00 can't beat that. The chicken katsu was very crispy lot of meat as well as the prawns fried tempura batter simply delicious. Definitely to be back will have the Hawaiian BBQ chicken and chicken ramen. Staff very friendly and attentive having their facial masks on and following state protocols. read more

My current favorite ramen restaurant. The broth is so creamy and flavorful. The chashu is tasty and has the perfect texture. Unfortunately, I'm avoiding gluten right now (doctor's orders), so I have been asking for no noodles in my ramen. I know, I know, how can I still call it ramen if I don't have noodles in it? Well, the ramen here is so delicious and satisfying that I don't even miss the noodles. When I had COVID, I ordered delivery from here 4 times in a row, and it helped me feel better each time! I have only been there in-person once, on a weekend, but I enjoyed the ambiance. It wasn't too crowded and there was plenty of parking. My friend and I sat there for a few hours, talking. The staff was super friendly and helpful. read more

I came in during a weekday for lunch and it was empty. Food arrived fast. I had the Tonkotsu ramen and I'll have to say it's somewhat generous in terms of portion size although I was still hungry lol. Flavor was good but I've had better ramen. I got the spicy level and it was not spicy for me, about on par with the Sriracha branded sauce. I was gonna give 4 stars but I think I'll keep it at 5 since I'll probably come back anytime that I want a quick lunch and that I don't want to wait in line for ramen. read more
I was skeptical about a restaurant that serves Hawaiian food AND ramen, but saw they have 10 other locations in the Bay Area and figured I should give them a try. They had 20% off orders for their soft opening, but only if you ordered from them directly. Their website still shows a 10% discount on orders. Since it was a busy week at work, I ended up placing an order through Uber Eats, and had to pay additional surcharges for each item. I placed my order a couple of hours in advance for a specific delivery window, and it was delivered within the window. Sadly, my order was not packaged well, and a good amount of the soup for the ramen had spilled during transport. They had put the heavier box for the Hawaiian BBQ mix on top of the ramen, which caused the bag to tip over super easily. Since the soup wasn't wrapped with saran wrap, it spilled out due to the small hole in the lid. The one good part about ordering through Uber Eats is that they refunded this item quickly. I hope the Ramen 101 staff does a better job of packaging to go orders, and making sure the heavier food items are on the bottom of the bag. This time around, I tried: -Black Garlic Ramen (Roasted Pork, Fried Garlic, Bamboo Shoots, Green Onion, Bean Sprouts, Corn, $13, https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=E2vao7zl37re-ixRHdMDjA&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg, https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=JmrojqjPayten9H5dRA_rA&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg): $15 on Uber Eats. This ramen was meh, and only marginally better than packaged ramen. The soup wasn't flavorful enough, and I didn't like their thin noodles, which were too soft and had no chew. The roasted pork was bland and chewy versus tender, and the fried garlic pieces weren't cooked enough- skip! -Hawaiian BBQ Mix (Chicken, Beef, Short Ribs, w/Macaroni Salad, Rice, Veggies, $16, https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=Ph3yhNbX5iceV1CJmxnX2A&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg): $18 on Uber Eats. Just ok. This was a good amount of food for the price, but nothing was flavorful. The chicken was cooked well, but the beef was super overcooked and dry. The short ribs needed more of a sear, and the two pieces that were included were very chewy. The macaroni salad was very creamy, but also needed more salt/flavor. This location is still new and working on the kinks, and I hope they lock down on their seasoning levels soon. I would come back to try their seafood plate, and give their short ribs another try. read more

Quality plate lunches, good ramen all at one spot. Hawaiian bbq plates-bbq on a bed of steamed cabbage and broccoli, rice and mac salad are solid choices. Bbq beef was thinly sliced, tender and tasty. Chicken was also a good pick. Neither was overly salty or drenched in sauce. Some might find flavor to be too lite.. Ramen can be hit or miss depending on your standards. My go to is Ajisen for the rich broth and delish noodles. Ramen 101 makes a good bowl- broth lacks rich depth of flavor but is still tasty. Noodles are reminiscent of saimin noodles. Specify level of heat if wanted. Mild was hot enough for me without being overpowering. Toppings are pretty standard except they leave the kikurage (wood ear) whole and add a slice of kamaboko. Not comfortable dining in at this small place yet, but will return for take out again. read more

This place might have been Happi House at one time...now it's Hawaiian bbq/ ramen noodle place at McCarthy Ranch. Their food is generous in portion and fresh and delicious. A good time to go when it's not too crowded is lunch. There are a varied variety Hawaiian plate dishes to choose from that comes with rice and macaroni salad . Likewise there are a variety of ramen to choose from including pork, beef, chicken and vegetarian. For an additional cost, you have many choices of add ons to customize to your taste. read more

I don't like leaving bad reviews..but here it goes.. Got the Black Garlic Tonkotsu Ramen, and the broth looked and tasted just like the standard tonkotsu ramen which was super bland. The Chashu was not all that soft, and the added egg was almost hard boiled. If you're looking for some authentic tasting tonkotsu ramen, I would not recommend this place. Maybe in the future I will give something else a shot here, but being called Ramen 101, I'd expect the ramen to be at least decent to good. read more

As a nurse when I work a 16 hour shift I treat myself to a DoorDash delivery service instead of my meal prep. It's like a way to spoil myself. It was a cold rainy day so I really wanted a warm comforting soup. My usual go to is mall ramen by my side of town which is in a mall. So like I'm not super picky lol (jinya) It's not like a gourmet ramen place. Based on the reviews I decided to order a bowl of ramen and lumpia which was $50. The ramen broth was bland. Which is strange because the broth is usually rich, salty and flavorful for ramen. This was none of those things. The noodles were the worst part. They were hard and stuck together so much I couldn't even get them to cut apart I needed a knife. The roasted pork was terrible usually it's tender and falls apart. This was like gross pork jerky after 1 bite I couldn't even eat anymore. Eggs were over cooked and hard boiled. I have no idea about the service or ambiance. And like they didn't even send one chopstick or like not even 1 utensil. I mean it's pretty obvious when someone is door dashing they will need something anything to eat with. Overall will never eat here again. Lumpia was mediocre. I work with all Filipinos and not a single person wanted to try one... lumpia's are traditional served with a soy or vinegar dipping sauce. I was sent a packet of sweet chili. Overall confused about that. read more

Was craving ramen on a cold day brrrr. So glad I found this place and it just opened! Got the pork rib ramen and vegetable Tempura and I love the generous serving of pork rib. Really great food overall! Order online is really easy and you can omit and add toppings to your ramen. Heck you can even customize your vegetable Tempura for what you don't want in it (no onion in my Tempura!) For a limited time, you can get 20 percent off for soft opening and this place located across Best Buy. read more

Huge portion and yummy!! We got the BBQ Mix and BBQ chicken/Katsu. All the grilled meats are juicy and tender, especially like the grilled chicken. Even the fried chicken katsu is juicy and not oily. Vege tempuras just ok, will pass next time. Look forward to trying their ramen next time. read more

Hello yelpers, Ramen 101 is a solid choice for Hawaiian lunch plates and Japanese style Ramen. I have been here 3 times and each time has been consistently good, fresh, and on time. My go to has always been the Mini Chicken Katsura meal. Portions are plentiful and the value is something that has been hard to pull off during COVID. If you are in need of some good lunch plate style food then Ramen 101 is a choice you will not regret and will be coming back for more If you are a big eater then get the BBQ Chicken and Katsu. Chicken done right two different ways and their Katsu sauce is just right. Not too sweet and not to thick. It's nice having another Hawaiian style spot in Milpitas in addition to L&L. Parking is easy and you can preorder on line so what are you waiting for. Order, eat, enjoy and support another great restaurant. read more

Horrible food got the ramen it tasted so bad they put mostly sprouts and one thin slice of pork which did not taste fresh, couldn't even enjoy my food since the place was filled with fruit flys /nats the miso ramen was the one I got horrible watery tasted like sink water staying to Hindoya next time, also the chicken katsu plate had small portion of the macaroni salad they gave two broccoli for the side and the chicken was not the best sticking to Hawaiian bbq L&L next time horrible experience read more
Between a 3.7-3.8 stars. So, it turns out that $14.99 gets me the Black Garlic Ramen Noodles and $1.99 for soda/tea self serve beverages. Taxes $1.57. Everything under $20 before tips. Typical ramen fast food place. Small dining space, but good enough for grabbing quick bites. It's not like the ones where you would see long lines, crowds, or lots of Asians eating there. Customers work in or around the area. Cashier was efficient, friendly, and attentive. Note, the excellent flavored garlic chucks were huge and overall portion size inside bowl was too big for a person under 115 lbs. It took me one full hour dining inside to finish up the entire bowl. Not too bad, but woh, too full to eat anything else afterwards. I haven't carried such a big stomach size around in a long time. Very very fulfilling portions. I asked for very spicy for my garlic ramen soup. It turned out not spicy as I had imagined. Soup base was quite thick & heavy. Yes, creamy is heavy (I would usually prefer going for the lighter stuff). Lots of sesame oil, half can of corn, bean sprouts, scallion bits, cooked garlic cloves, and two full slices of pork meat. Only thing is that at this price, it didn't come with the boiled egg as it is available for separate purchase. Yellow noodles were ok. Place is well organized and well maintained. Looks clean and updated. Menus were easy to read. I have 5 lbs to burn off after eating this today. I think some folks like it very much. Overall, foods looked great and tasted good, so maybe the rest of the food items might be just as good. After eating just one bowl, I feel very sleepy and tired now. Will weigh myself on a scale again after the food settles. Skipping dinner tonight. read more

Was looking for a spot to try out one night and came across this place. My bf was in the mood for ramen and I wasn't but, this place has ramen and Hawaiian rice plates. Which worked perfectly for us. We ordered grilled squid, takoyaki, seafood ramen, and the beef and chicken comb. The food was nothing special just mediocre. Dont waste your money on the takoyaki looks like it was from a frozen package. The ramen and the Hawaiian chicken and beef were just okay nothing special. Theres not much to say about this place on their food but the workers were were real friendly and warm welcoming. read more
