I don't know if it is this ralphs or all of them but their produce, mostly organic is HORRIBLE! It is always OLD and when I've found rotten food I give to the grey haired gentleman who works in produce and he says "thank you" but it seems to happen EVERY TIME I go there. I quit going and it's not worth it. I feel like they are trying to get away with selling old food as most won't drive back to the store to return. I've seen shriveled apples, mush lemons, mush avocados, ginger that is SUPER old and dried up and the list goes on and on. I'm sure it isn't his fault but the manager. read more

Terry, at self checkout. Must say that vibes from him were not only disrespectful but came off as downright assuming. It's one thing to relay what he can't do for you, but it seemed like he wasn't willing to do his job properly. While I don't expect for anyone to go above and beyond at self-checkout, my concern was clearly something anyone could've and has done in the past. Simple price adjustment. Basic over-ride. Terry, who clearly has a smart a** and slick attitude when addressing concerns needs to look back at his employees handbook. Or better yet, have some common knowledge about customer service and how to keep the line moving. The money is not coming out of your pockets buddy. Certainty left a sour taste, just hope that future interactions reflect that actions are taken and mistakes in hiring people like Terry are kept to a minimum. Neda and her buddy from the deli are incompetent enough that I left ASAP and went to vons for my sandwich. First, they intentionally helped two other couples before me even though I was in line. This Ralphs desperately needs to get it together. Their coffee station is almost always out of coffee, lids, etc. The bakery rarely has anyone working in it, and the carts are usually not conveniently located. They really need to be like the Ralphs in Granary Square. This is my second post about this Ralph's. It is literally good for nothing. Was waiting at the Manager desk to turn in a lottery ticket with two kids who were waiting patiently. The manager kept looking over at me, but we keep taking new customers who had just walked in the line. Not quite sure how he has qualified for the manager position, but somebody needs to rethink this. The customer service at the store is lacking so greatly. read more

I had to stop shopping at this Ralphs primarily due to the fact the people working at their service deli don't seem to care about the customers waiting in line at their counter as much as they do whatever they're doing when they're not serving those people waiting at the counter! Well, I gave it another try this afternoon. When I walked in with another gentleman already waiting, there was no to serve us. After about three minutes, a young man with dark hair and a mask came out from the back and proceeded to unwrap a piece of meat from some plastic. After a couple of minutes without acknowledging the customers, he finally walked over towards us. As he moved towards the slicer, he apologized for taking so long. So, the gentleman in front of me and I waited ... and we waited ... and we continue to wait... Until after the 10th minute of me standing in line and no one even acknowledging my presence, I finally left the store without what i'd come there for. However before I did leave, I voiced my concern to the store manager. His attitude was similar to the person behind the deli counter. He was nice. But, he really didn't care one way or the other... So, if you have half an hour to spend and you need some American cheese, this is the place to go... read more

Today I went to this store register 1. The cashier was so mean to me i was asking her that i have a coupon for my protein bar and if its ok for her to help me see it because I downloaded it and she said I don't know. And she told me i cant help u. She didn't greet me like Any other Ralph's employees. The guy was pushing cart was more friendlier and greeted people. I don't know if this cashier was having a bad day or she hates her job. Her name is barbara. I only asked her a simple question and I wasn't even done talking and she shut me off. I have visited this Ralph's many times, yet this had to be the worst experience. I shop here all the time. I live across the street from it so it's very convenient for me. It has a nice atmosphere and it's well cared for, unlike some other grocery chains I've seen. The only problem that I have with it, is that it's expensive. I don't care for Walmart that much. But, the things that I buy are cheaper there. I like the employees there. I am not the kind who demand for service but I am very upset with how I was treated by a cashier here, Sam. I opted for a box instead of a bag. She left me to pack my own grocery (alot, mind you) and went on to serve another customer! I felt like I am being treated like a fool, standing there packing my grocery while she serve another customer and side glance at me! Discrimination! I was doing some shopping at Walmart across the street on Sunday April 15th. I was getting hungry and decided to pick up a few things to cook at home. I've never visited this Ralph's before but was in the area and was tiered of driving. I picked up some Dave's killer white bread and bagels than proceeded toward the dairy section to pick up some cream cheese, and guess what, it's no where to be found.. I walked the isle back and forth looking for it, I thought I was mad that I could not see it.. I than walked some more, looking for someone to help me out and not a single employee insight. I figured I wouldn't waste any more time and go to the fruit and vegetables section to continue with my shopping. Once I got there, I saw one employee who was off the clock(female) and another who just stepped out of the staff area(male) , they began to chat.. I kindly interrupted and asked the male where they had organic cucumbers, he replied that "they where all out", I also asked where is the cream cheese? He began to show me where it was, and guess what? It's next to the fruits.. As I was walking away, the female employee mentioned to me that she did not understand why it would be there.. I agreed, why is it not in the damn dairy section????? Why it is across the fruit section?? Fair enough I got my cream cheese, I than proceeded to pick my veggies, and guess what? I see the damn organic cucumbers.. Are you serious? I began to pack up and go on my way, when I hear that same male employee tell other customers that whatever item they where looking for "we're all out".. Seemed like that was the answer to most of the questions.. The main reason I am writing this review is because of how poorly the store is managed, how poorly the layout is set up, and on top of that, THEY SOLD ME BREAD THAT WAS 5 DAYS PASS THE EXPIRATION DATE!! Granted that I should have checked the date, but really Ralph's? You going to have expired products lay on your shelf 5 days after its expired?? In 2018?.. when we have stores where no wallets are required (amazon whole foods) ?? I hope that they close this place down or fire their store manager for a lazy good to nothing job that he or she does. Save your self the time and money, and shop at better stores like Trader Joe's, sprouts, or whole foods, where the products are fresh.. No wonder this place was empty. This review was for yesterday, not today. Sorry Yelpers....I haven't been to anywhere interesting as of late. I, rarely, eat out as of late. Pei Wei was my last place that I wrote about and I guess I had to visit a new location for my Yelp Fans. Well, I found another Ralph's somewhat farther from my work. The Ralph's is located in a shopping center with Stein Mart and other retail centers. Before I walked in, I couldn't believe there was a solicitor outside the door..REALLY?! Well, good thing the person was busy with another person and it was a Voter Registration thing which I have already done. The store was very clean and one thing I had noticed was this didn't have a Self-Checkout, from what I saw, at least. For some reason, it seemed they had a bigger Service Deli than the others. I got my self a Roast Beef Monster Sandwich ($3.99) and 8- Powerades ($0.39). The Powerades are CHEAP!! I had gone to another Ralphs before yesterday and now I got 15 bottles at home. That's a great deal. My total was $7.91. After I was done with checkout, I was headed back out the door and HOPING that guy would not try to give me a form and luckily..he was busy with another person...WOOT. Parking is abundant and staff is friendly and hard at work especially Service Deli since I saw them going back and forth making food. Weak selection, most likely due to the smaller size of the store. Higher prices, most likely due to the "higher quality" of the surrounding neighborhood. I can live with a weaker selection, and on some things, even a higher price. What I can't live with is a snotty staff, and this store has one. One of the cashiers tends to apply her face makeup with a Spackle blade. She's nice enough, but really? Kabuki makeup really has no place in a grocery store. She's not really why I'm taking the time to write this review, however. There is one "gentleman", let's say, with a seriously bad attitude. I've had and seen several experiences with him, and all of them end the same way. There are people who, for whatever reason, are on public assistance. It's not my place to judge, but apparently, it is his. I've been in line while he checks out a customer paying with what is apparently a food-stamp credit card. Once that payment method comes up on the screen, his entire attitude becomes one of disgust. He actually refused to sell this particular woman one of their recyclable bags, because of her status. He actually told her "you're on food stamps. All you get is paper bags." Once he got to me, I asked what his problem was. His response? "She looks like she can work. She doesn't deserve to have food stamps." I promptly went off on the guy. Then I complained to management. The next time I was in that store, his was the only line open. He gave me the same attitude he gave the woman from the previous visit. I complained again. At the moment, this is the store closest to where I live. As soon as I move away, I will never darken their door again. I prefer friendly people when I shop... EDIT 07/29/2012 - So, had to pick up milk, and didn't want to drive all the way up to the local Vons, which is much better. The cashier, whose name escapes me, put 5 of the 6 items we bought in the bag. The 6th? The gallon of milk, which she simply handed to me like the bag wasn't there. What's the point of bringing a bag if the bagger isn't going to put all of your items in the bag? Sorry...but this just dropped my rating from an already low 2 stars to the dreaded 1 star. I shop here mainly because I think they treat their employees better than Vons and Walmart treat theirs, and I have never had a bad experience with any of the employees, but their bakery is the worst grocery store bakery I've ever experienced. Their freshly baked bread is bland and tastes overly processed. There's no chewiness or crunch in the crust; it's fresh out of the over, but feels stale, dry, flavorless and crumbly... Their frosting tastes like whipped Duncan Hines canned frosting. Their "private selection" desserts taste like cheap, mass-produced boxed junk food you'd find in the middle of the store on a shelf. I've tried the ice cream, cookies, cakes, cupcakes, lemon squares, brownies, and seven layer bars and have been disappointed every single time. Use better ingredients, Ralph's! read more

This store is trash. Went for a a WesternUnion transaction that I do every month, and the manager tried to tell me it's done another way. He simply hadn't done it often enough, and didn't feel like doing it. This is second bad experience. They carry almost no organic frozen products, no vegan non-dairy yogurt options, hardly any decent vegan options at all. Bottom of the barrel when it comes to grocery stores. This is one of my favorite Ralph's to go to, because it shares a parking lot with L.A. Fitness (which is where there is always a stair climber available in the early mornings on Saturday). AND downwind from Mentryville ghost town, where I do a lot of photo shoots. A great stop off for water and provisions before hitting the canyon. Early morning Saturdays...also...when NO ONE is there..there is so much politeness. Completely foreign concept to anywhere south of the 14. The checkout lady offered me a free box to carry my goods, since they charge for bags. She was such a friendly older woman too. You know when you leave your mom's house and she tries to push more food for you to take home? It was like that. The seafood attendant called me "sir" and didn't do it ironically. I am clearly out of my element here. And it is refreshing. I can see during the rest of the week, it being more pushy and angry. But overall, I really like this Ralph's. read more

Stopped in here for some tailgating supplies for the Rose Bowl. Place was almost empty on Sunday evening around 8pm. This location has a ridiculous liquor and wine selection. I wasn't buying any, but I was in disbelief over how much variety they had. Typical Ralph's pricing. Checkout service was good. Be warned though. If you forget to bring your reusable bags, they charge you 10 cents per paper bag. I guess they are in a certain part of the county that is subject to a new law, so they are stuck charging 10 cents for every bag you use unless you bring your own. Our government at work. read more

I like this Ralphs well-enough. Very friendly cashiers...even the ones people think are grumpy (they're really not). But, I will always miss the Albertson's near BofA on The Old Road. Self-checkout, immaculate, great selection, etc. I like the parking lot better too there. But, the Albertson's is no more and I am forced to go to Ralph's. One good thing about this Ralph's is that they have those hard-to-find spicy Asian soups in the bowls where you just add hot water. Not easy to find! They stopped carrying my favorite marinade (World Harbors Jamaican Jerk), which is annoying because that's the second time a Jamaican Jerk flavor sauce/marinade has been discontinued. The first was London Pub Jamaican Jerk sauce (no longer carried by Ralph's). Stop messin' with my sauces and marinades, yo! So, for a while I stopped going there just because of that item, but now that Albertson's is gone I go to a store that continues to stop carrying items I like, for whatever reason. In their defense, maybe the manufacturer discontinued those (I doubt it). I liked the quality of Albertson's meat too, and thought it was better than Ralph's. Specifically I am talking about the stew meat, which always seems to be better at Albertson's. Another ding for Ralph's is that the pricing on the soda is annoying. For a long time they had this deal on soda 12-packs where you could buy 3 for 9.99 or 11.99, as long as you matched eligible brands. So, I'd generally buy two Pepsi and one Ginger Ale 12-pack. The problem is, they have changed it so Pepsi is 3 for 11.99 and Ginger Ale is 3 for 9.99. Frustrating, because it's a substantial savings. I know, first-world problems, but it made me leave to go try Vons. Maybe this pricing isn't up to Ralphs, but if it is I hope they fix it. The lot can sometimes get a little messy but I think they work hard picking up after scumbags who litter. If you think that's bad, check out Wal-Mart sometime. Their parking lot looks like a third-world country (litter everywhere) and with little effort to pick it up....which is why I hate going there (besides the fact that it's Wal-Mart and I hate their politics). The cashiers or people working there have always been great...but I've been a regular for around 10 years now so some of the old-timers probably know me by now. I HATE Ralphs' stupid discount system, where you have to type in your phone number or swipe your 'discount' card to get the discount. I remember a time before that stupid system, and prices were raised just before the system went in-place. Albertson's didn't bother with that silly system, which made them WAY better just in that respect. I don't do coupons, and I don't want to be bothered with an arbitrary system designed to fool me into getting my info whilst offering some discount they could offer without it. Ralph's, stop this at once and I will be happier for it. Until then, I'll start shopping somewhere else the minute it's convenient. I've even been known to drive way over to Copper Hill Albertson's just to be able to have self-checkout or avoid the stupid discount card/number system. That system also slows down the line. Anyway, the whole shopping experience matters, especially because some of us try to do this as fast as possible. Discount gimmicks that involve some loyalty card are a terrible idea for those of us who don't want to futz with them but also don't want to be penalized with much higher prices either. Keep that lot clean....that's very much appreciated for those of us who live nearby. Wal-Mart is a continuing example of what not to do. read more

I came across a worker named I think Celeste, she was really helpful and guided me to everything I needed while being very patient. I actually prefer self-checkout unlike some here, it gives me a chance to review my bill before hitting final "Pay." There are a lot of mistakes with the digital coupons I've downloaded and fairly often sale prices aren't reflected in the price charged. I don't like to pay then have to return items with the lack of privacy, getting in line again and now with Covid there is additional risk to me and the employees. But the last couple of times I was in self-check there was a woman whose name I didn't get because I couldn't get close enough, middle-aged, dark haired, who yelled "too many items!" soon as I approached. Some others had just as many and there was no sign that said "Express." So I asked why she's singling me out, I prefer self-check, she yelled "OK but hope you know what you're doing because I can't come within 6 feet and the machine had better not freeze up!" Whoa, lady, I thought that was so rude but proceeded. Once I did need her to come over and cancel an item, not my fault and I had a coupon. She rudely banged some keys and took the coupon, kept yelling "six feet, that's not six feet!" I could hardly wait to leave so I paid and thought the bill seemed high, outside I realized I'd been overcharged almost $9.00 so had to go back in, one of the problems was she had not actually run up the free coupon. So a manager had to look through my bill, we both got more exposed than would have been necessary, I had a miserable day. I complained about her but he looked nervous, this is the 2nd time it was the same woman. The next day I called and spoke to manager Jace who seemed unconcerned and felt like he was excusing her - I told him again that if an employee is so afraid to do their job and cause additional problems maybe they shouldn't be dealing with customers. Seems like with this Covid not only prices have shot up, but it's an excuse to be rude. If this weren't by far the closest Ralph's I'd never come here. read more

Well I know this place could not care less, but they just lost a $200-400 per week customer. I will now be taking my almost daily business to Vons/anywhere else. If not for their pharmacy, I would never set foot in here again. Horrible customer service that was completely unnecessary. Not okay. I feel so disrespected that I wish I could take back the years of business I've given. Yuck. If you are going to visit a Ralph's, I recommend you go across the street to Vons or Walmart. With so many competitors in a one block/one mile radius, I would think that they would care a little more about such a regular customer...that once again spends no less than $200 every single week, but usually more like $340-400. Went to the deli to buy 1 chicken leg and 1 chicken thigh at 8:40pm. Lady literally sifts through with the tong, grabs a chicken piece and realizes it's of a decent size, then doesn't grab it anymore and searches for the smallest size she can find.. for both pieces. Because it is priced by piece and not by size, I get the worst deal possible. Seriously lady? I didn't speak my mind, I thanked her and walked away and paid $4 for 2 stupidly small chicken leg and thigh. I go to this location to get my groceries. This one trip to the deli changed all that. The store manager Mr flores is not a great manager at all in this Ralphs location. Went tgere for a job interview. I was told by him he had no idea that there was an interview. Was drinking a water and ringing up customers at register. Said he would have to do a quick interview because he has other things to do. Very rude behavior from someone who things this is how you manage a store. This is not how a person who runs a store should act to employees. I have been a customer at this location for more than 20 yrs and today was the worst experience I had. The Cashier on check out stand #5 whoever that was at around 7pm was so rude! I was originally at check out #2 Express counter when Cashier #5 opened and the lady cashier said she can help the next customer. No one walked over so I proceeded to put my stuff on the check out counter. The cashier told me " No" and then yelled " next customer in line please.." i had only 2 items and I was already there... She refused to ring my items! So I took my stuff amd went to the next counter. Whoever that cashier was needs to be re-trained about courtesy and how to treat their paying customers!! Very rude !!! This review is for their delivery service. I placed an order today because I am isolating. First it took an hour to set up an account. Then I placed an order for 17 items and only received 7 and two of those were wrong. The delivery person said they were out of a lot, which I understand, but why did the website say they have the items available a couple of hours after my incomplete order? Either they need a new IT department or a new delivery person. read more
