We tend to go here for their hot prepared food area. The food is reasonably priced and tasty. Plus it's nice to be able to grab a grocery or two while getting a hot meal. The staff is always friendly. Sometimes you may encounter someone who doesn't speak English (which doesn't bother me) but we're still always able to communicate and get our point across. Their cakes are beautiful and inexpensive for how fancy they are. So I want to try one out for our next birthday party. Are you kidding me with this meat?! I bought 10 pounds of ranchera and when it came time to marinate and grill, I see that half of it is just scraps. Some of it doesn't even look like ranchera . They hid it all in between some decent looking pieces. Most of it is cut razor thin and half shredded. It's nearly impossible to grill it this way and even if I could, I'm embarrassed to serve this to my family and friends. Do they even have a real butcher or a quality control person? I always enjoy a grocery trip to Vallarta, especially to the bakery section and the fresh produce section. Unfortunately, I had my first bad experience on March 2, 2026, at approximately 11:15am. I placed all of my groceries on the cashier counter top as the cashier proceeded to to scan my items without a good morning or any acknowledgment of my presence ( which is fine nowadays...i guess). The cashier proceeded to pile all the scanned items on the end if the counter as I then realized...oh I guess I have to start packing my items myself. So I asked the cashier if I had to pack my items myself, and he replied yes and placed some paper bags on top my groceries. This upset me because this meant that if I had not asked, the cashier and I were going to have a stare-off to see who was going to bag the items (again I have no problem bagging my items, but it would've been nice if there were some communication). I then requested a manager (Julian) who seemed very uninterested and simply replied "we don't pack groceries since Covid" before continuing to work on a register malfunction. I just walked out in disbelief because I have shopped at this Vallarta since Covid many times and have had my groceries packed each time. I know that it seems petty, but a simple greeting or communication goes a long way. read more

I was shopping for a few items and saw that roses were on sale for $9.99. When the wonderfully kind cashier rung them up, the were $16.99. When I told her they were mismarked she called over her manager, CATRINA. Catrina went over to check the price, ripped the sale sign off, and came back to the register. I greeted her with a kind Hello, how are you? She ignored me. She was all huffy over the price adjustment. I went out of my way to kiss her A$$ and thank her for adjusting and she ignored me again. When I thanked her at the end, she ignored me again. She was so mean and nasty. Do not waste your money at this place full of condacending and rude people!! I arrived and requested a pound of chicharrones (which were sitting right in front of her and required no work to prepare other than putting them on a bag), and she just basically told me to go away (in a very unapologetic and rude manner) that they were closed. That they closed at 9 pm (it was 9:04 and the food was still in front of her), the frustrating part was that she just turned around, gave me her back and basically told me to go away! Very disappointing experience, there are ways to treat your customers and tell them why you can or cannot do things, but being condescending and telling me to go away instead of explaining why she could not give me a product that is in front of her and that needs no preparing other than putting them on a bag is very disappointing. Not only is everything over priced but their customer service is the worst I've experienced. The times that I've stopped by the bakery section (1) staff never acknowledges the customer, they talk to you like you are bothering them (2) their bread section is always empty and when you ask them if they can bring some more out, they tell you they don't have any ready and you have to wait over an hour (3) everything is over priced (4) last but not least when you pay through self check out, staff will purposely make the machine give you an error message just to check if you have scanned all your item. All these issues have been brought up to corporate multiple times but nothing has been done to improve their service. People need to stop giving them business in order to see changes. I've been wanting to share my experience in this place of bullies for the longest time. La Cocina department is lead by a bunch of rude and unprofessional people who would do everything in their power to have each other's backs and bully customers. I came by to order some carnitas and 2 registers were open. A woman named Leslie and another older woman who was the manager. Once the manager was done helping the customer she hid to the back and started cleaning. I waited and Leslie was done helping the customer and walked away. I waited and waited. Then a young guy walked by talking to Leslie and they laughed as she started to give him I believe cooked fries. I told her " Is someone going to help me?" She rolled her eyes and continued to ignore me. The young guy confronted me and told me to leave her alone. This young guy was ALSO a worker there at the same department . I asked for his name and he didn't give it to me. I told him he was very rude and he needs to mind his own business. Then Leslie opened the register and yelled " Ok what do you want !" I was beyond shocked. It gets worse. I ordered and when I was done she grabbed my food, placed it on the counter and turned around angrily. I was so mad but I decided to walk away. As I walked away, Leslie and the young guy started talking behind my back laughing and telling other customers what happened. I ignored it because I was shaking with so much anger and decided to go home to just forget about it. However I was so angry I wasn't even hungry anymore. I called the store and asked for the manager. Supposedly the manager wasn't there and to call back another day. But guess who picked up the phone? That young guy that never gave me his name. He said "Wait you are that one lady huh?" My husband heard the conversation and was very angry. We drove back to the Vallarta. We went to the little kiosk section near the entrance of the store and asked for the manager for the cocina department. Sure enough the manager was there and she didn't even look up at me. There was another gentleman who accompanied her. Supposedly he managed another department in the Vallarta but it looks like since they all know each other he wanted to be there with this lady. I told the cocina department manager what happened and I told her I saw her and she hid. In a defensive way she said she needed to clean. I ended up getting a refund. This situation happened early 2020. Because I got the refund I decided to move on. But it's been a bitter taste for the longest time. We just avoid Vallarta as much as we can now. Customers, if you feel that you are being bullied, I suggest reaching out to corporate about what happened or record the whole situation. That is something I wish I could have done a lot earlier. read more

Raw meat in beef soup!!! Our family shops at Vallarta's at least once a month and even more frequently during the holidays. I usually don't have an issue with their products (aside from some bad fruit or bland pan dulce here and there), but I did have a HORRIBLE experience with a recent takeout order. We ordered the albondigas soup for $12 but when we got home to eat it, the meat was practically raw inside. It was nauseating as I had already taken a small bite. We emailed Vallarta's customer service dept right away and received the generic email response of "we are very busy and have a small team, we will get back to you when we can, BUT if you don't hear back from us within six weeks, then that means we are not going to answer your email at all." That was very off-putting and makes the customer feel unheard. At any rate, my main advice is to make sure you check your albondigas meatballs (beef stew) to make sure they are not raw inside! I wonder if Vallarta will eventually respond to our email? read more

This place has the best Mexican food court in Santa Clarita! So many choices. Employees are are very helpful when asked I ask for assistance. They have a bakery with fresh baked bolillos, cakes, fruit tarts and on and on. Store is nice and clean and carry many items that other local supermarkets don't have. The have a really good carnecería with a really good marinated carne asada, chicken and one of my favorites, Al pastor marinated pork meat for tacos. And of course a variety of fresh produce. When I got home I took it out of the plastic bag they put the meat it in only to find out the meat under the top piece was all fat. All the meat had to be thrown out. I am rating this grocery store mainly on the butcher department. Hands down it is the best place in Santa Clarita to get carne asada meat and more for a BBQ. Most grocery stores have a small meat department, but Vallarta has a huge full service meat and seafood service department with several guys working behind the counter to help and prep orders. The best asada is the Ranchera. It's more lean and has the awesome seasoning and onions marinated in. Also I grab the marinated chicken for the BBQ. They also have a full service prepared food department. You could come in and eat a full hot meal. I pick up my Mexican rice here and it's delicious. Grab some fresh made tortillas and salsas too. Plenty of fresh produce and regular grocery items are available too. Decent supply of beer and booze up front to turn up the party. Staff is always courteous and helpful. read more
