I wanted to share feedback regarding my visit to your store today at approximately 7:15 PM. I approached the checkout with four items and waited behind a cashier who was assisting a coworker. The transaction for the coworker took about seven minutes. After that, another person began conversing with the cashier for roughly another ten minutes while I remained waiting in line. While I understand brief conversations can happen, the extended personal interaction during checkout significantly delayed service for other customers. I hope additional training can be provided to help staff balance friendliness with efficiency, and to recognize when it's time to focus on moving the line along read more

Why would anyone give this store less than a stellar review? I have been shopping here for 20+ years and it has been consistently excellent the entire time. Clean, spacious, efficient, friendly, well stocked, great prices, items you can't find anywhere else. What more could you want? Wait, I know, there is no membership fee as there is with its main competitors. Hence, 5 stars for all aspects of shopping at Smart & Final. S&F, since 1871 (!!) was here before the Big Box stores, before the clubs. I am a professionally trained baker. Even the so-called restaurant supply stores are not as well versed and stocked as Smart & Final. You can find whatever you need for high quality culinary production right here, with great hours, consistently. But, what prompted me to post this review, finally today? I, a vegan 99% of the time, have loved Garden Burger brand meatless burgers for decades. Suddenly, you can't find them anywhere. There are no equivalents of the quality of Garden Burgers, now owned by the Kellogg company. Kellogg pushes its vastly inferior MorningStar brand burger and has withdrawn the higher quality Garden Burger from all supermarkets. Smart & Final carries the Garden Burger and has joined forces with InstaCart to deliver them in a convenient frozen 12-pack to your door. I ordered from S&F with InstaCart this morning at 5:30 and my treasured Garden Burgers were at my front door in less than 2 hours. We came in last Friday on a last minute run to pick up some items for dinner party we were hosting. Unfortunately they didn't have the item we stopped in for, but I am not going to ding them for that because it is not a usual food item. We stopped in because we were close and thought we should try. However in walking through (rather quickly) I saw that they did have a clean store and a lot of items that I would buy if not in such a rush. Five stars for a Smart n Final? How can this be you ask? Well I know I thought the same thing when I walked out of the store. I didn't think I would say to myself - woah that was impressive for a S&F! I have been in here before the renovation and now and let me tell you, what a difference. Great job guys. Aisles are wider and stocked like usual. Produce sections looked great. Food aisles had what you need. I did notice less industrial supplies and more household items. Probably supply and demand. Wine and beer area was easy to navigate. Oh and I love the naming if checkout registers after local street names. Don't ask me why. Just thinks it's neat. Get you into that local market feel I guess. Parking lot is huge and there is restrooms. Overall clean and well stocked. Now you can load up for your party or just do some light weekly shopping in one place!! read more

Today I observed at the line at check one of the cashiers being very disrespectful toward another paying customer. Her name was Leticia at the register who made it her obvious point of view she smelled and was offended toward another paying customers scent of cañabais ( as she sprayed aerosol lysol in front of the customers and our food goods) I believe that was very rude and unprofessional, when you working in the customer service department we all have to learn how to respect one another and not make a point of others choices. I went into this smart and final because I needed water by the cases. I spoke with Indra who is a manager and she ordered them and they came in right when she said they would. I ordered 4 cases but they gave me 7 so I thought well I will take them because water does not go bad. An older gentlemen put it in my car for me and a checker by the name of max I think was truly a blessing in the store. Its good to see that when you order something it does come in when they say it will. Every single person in that store was so nice. If you have been to one S&F, you've been to pretty much all of them. Prices are solid and lots of good stock. We went the Sunday before Memorial Day for some hot dogs, burgers and chicken and assortment of other needed items. We were in then out, quicker than a McDonald's drive-thru. But the staff were friendly despite working on a Sunday before a holiday and there were still a lot left of everything we needed. read more

It's rather small for a grocery store but it has most of everything I need. The parking is ample and easy to find. The pies are very peculiarly placed inside the fridge so I reckon they're not meant to be eaten any time soon. I came here to grab some champagne for the New Year and there were a good handful of variety. Good place to grab last minute things. read more

Old, dingy, outdated, and in need of a major facelift. I hated the way the store was set-up; things were everywhere. I found it hard to navigate through the store. No, you can't go down that aisle, sorry, you can't cut through between those table, nope, sorry go completely around. I mean they do have some decent prices on select items, ehem, their pumpkins were a steal at $2.99 a piece, but would I come here just for a good deal? Probably not! I come here once a year when I need huge quantities of provisions for our annual Oktoberfest. In the past year they've reorganized the layout of the place from several dozen teeny aisles to 4 long mausoleum ones. Dark and spooky, and the other customers only contribute to the mood. In case you don't know, this chain sells bulk items at cheap prices rather than standard groceries. I can't compare to Costco or Sam's Club since I don't go to those places. Ordinarily we end up wasting most bulk items because we go through groceries so slowly, so the place has limited usefulness for me. But since most everyone else is obese and/or has 500 kids these days I guess its customer base is relatively assured. Kinda dingy throughout. One bright spot I found - they carry Creme de Menthe Syrup so I can resurrect Disneyland's non alcoholic Mint Julep recipe, which the corporate asshats at Disney discontinued sometime in the last several years (but that's a 1 star rating rant for another time - sorry kiddos.) read more

Been here a few times in the past. It's still n a huge shopping center with plenty of parking. The aisles were bright and fairly wide. They had the gallon vinegar jugs I wanted. The store brand was much less expensive than the national brand and if I bought two, I saved even more money per gallon! The check out was fast and friendly too! Their customer service doesn't even deserve stars. They're so rude. I was given the wrong pump for the syrup i bought so i went back to get the proper ones. They were out of stock so i asked when they'll have them in stock or if they'll ever get them back, this hispanic lady with a feather duster in her pocket says ' just return them then'. So i went back today to return the syrup and wrong pump. This other hispanic lady at the register was also rude saying of course this is the wrong pump. She was talking down to me. This place needs new management, and employees. The customer service was not that good before they turned into a full blown grocery store. But now, it is even worse. I give a place 3 strikes and your out method. However, I have given this place a complete ballgame of chances. They sale things out of code, shelfs are empty quite often, and the customer service is sub par. The last three times I went into to get help, there is no one around. I REALLY wanted to like this new "grand opening" with the fresh fruit and everything since they took out the ralphs in the neighborhood. I walked in and was impressed by the appearance. However, the fruit area smelled weird and a lot of the blueberries and strawberries already had mold on them. Had an apple a few days later and they were already soggy on the inside. For the past 4 years our Rotary Club puts on a Cowboy Cobbler event at the Cowboy Festival. Over the 2 day event we serve over 2000 servings of Cobbler most ala mode. In addition we serve Pulled Pork sandwiches with Cole slaw and chips. Smart & Final is our "go to" source for our needs. Scott, Claudia, Karla, Frances, Christian and others whose names escape me make my job easy by helping in every stage along the way. On Cobbler weekend I'm in and out of the store, always in a hurry because we are running low on something, and there is someone to greet me with "what do you need Steve" and filling my order and loading the truck while I pay the bill. This Smart and Final gives you a funny feeling when you park in front. The strip mall it is in is rather tacky and the people walking around give me the creeps. Inside it is a normal S&F, however, it is rather dark and smaller than usual. The better choice is to go to the one only a few miles away on Newhall Ranch Road. They've done a good job remolding stores to make them more competitive against the Vons, Ralphs, etc. Prices are competitive. Weekly specials are good too. Staff are pretty good and accommodating. Now the bad. Received Christmas Flier in the mail and had several coupons with great specials. When I went to use them they all had limit one per purchase or visit. There was also a 10% off your total order. I spent about $80 but when I checked out I only received a $3.47 discount when it should have been $8. I Asked the cashier why and he said it excludes most of what I had bought!!! Lol! What a joke. Misleading advertising. Coupon specifically said "10% off your entire order!" What part of "entire" do they not understand? The fact that I actually went there to shop means that they are trying but they're still a second rate grocery store and in Southern California with so many choices they fall way short of everyone else. read more

This place NEVER has what I need. I only choose to go here because it's on my way home from work. I needed to buy some milk and they don't have the kind I like to give to my children. Also the cashier that checked me out was not very nice. I bought some cookies and I politely asked her if she could bag my stuff and in a very rude way she responded NO because they didn't have any and they would arrive the next day. I told her that there were some bags I could see at the register next to hers and her response was NO again because they were small size bags. I had a couple small things that should have been bagged but by the looks of it she didn't want to do that for me. Super stingy with their bags! read more
