Dr. Morey and the staff at Rainbow Optics were able to see me an hour to close on an emergency basis despite not previously being a patient AND being in the midst of a pandemic. I had low expectations, but was so impressed with the level of care I received by Dr. Morey. He took his time, listened to me, and even went so far as to pull up some relevant images for me on Google to help educate me, staying long after their closing time. The icing on the cake was that he was willing to accommodate me by providing samples at no charge after I told him I'd be moving out of state within days and wouldn't be able to see him for a follow up appointment. I will not go back to Rainbow Optics. Twice I visited the store in Eugene by Market of Choice. Both times I looked at frames for about 39 minutes and no one asked me if I needed help. I left. Yesterday 8/7/25, I gave them second chance. Again, I looked at frames for about 30 minutes. Finally, I approached three people sitting together, two on their phones. I stood there until they looked up. I told them this was second time this has happened, no offer to assist me. They both just looked at me. One girl has scurried back to her desk. The male and female on their phones tried to act attentive but too late. Very poor customer service, will not be back. read more

I'd been a customer at W 18th for years. Dr G. even removed a sliver of bark mulch from my eye once, as a walk-in. But when I got my last pair of glasses there, I couldn't see well at all. When I complained, they said it was because new glasses require time for your eyes to adjust. Fast forward to yesterday when my new optician checked the old glasses and said they were rx for reading. Generally good experiences for a few years A couple years ago, Bobby fitted me with 2 pairs of glasses that were too small. The frames had to be bent improperly to fit my face. Now a different optician tells me the frames were too small and that I needed to wear the proper size. Good to know now, but Bobby blew it badly. Also, I had inquired about lenses that had a specific feature. Bobby had no idea, and said they did not exist. New optician showed me exactly what I need and had been asking for Bobby blew it again! read more

Went in to Rainbow Optics to get a diabetic eye exam and a pair of reading glasses. After my appointment was completed I sat down with the sales rep to finalize my bill I was told that my benefits would cover all the expenses, I was even given a receipt saying paid in full. Fast forward a couple of months later I received a bill in the mail for $100 dollars. I called to inquire about the bill and told the receptionist that I had a receipt saying that I owed a zero balance. She advised me that they had made a billing mistake and that my insurance had not paid the entire bill. I contacted my insurance provider and inquired about the amount they had paid for my visit and was given the amount paid, which was for the whole amount owed for the visit. I again contacted Rainbow Optics and provided them with the billing statement provided by my insurance provider and they still said I owed the money. I advised them that I would not be paying the money. A month later I Received a notification from a credit monitoring system that Rainbow Optics had dinged my credit report for the money they were trying to steel from me. Needless to say I had to provide the insurance billing statement from my insurance provider and the receipt from Rainbow Optics to all three credit agencies for this extorsion attempt to come to an end. Do yourselves a favor and stay as far away from Rainbow Optics that you can. read more

Totally unhelpful in getting glaucoma medication renewed in a timely manner. Got the royal run-around with NO HELP. When a doctor is on a month long vacation, apparently no one else can renew a prescription. So, the patient has to run out of medication while waiting for the doctor to return. Meanwhile, the office staff have not kept the patient informed about this. Very unprofessional. read more

Riddle me this...i sit down with the eyeglass people after my exam. They log in and look at my benefits. They tell me I have x $ for this and that. I say use my benefits for this and that. Two weeks later I get my glasses. Two more weeks I get a bill for exceeding my benefits. Same thing happened to my friend however his bill was $400. Go elsewhere or at least do some research so you know what you are getting in to. read more

After years of good service I have to say I could not be more disappointed. As a father of a kid that needs glasses to see, when those glasses break you create a temporary repair to them so your child can see until you have a claim processed since they broke in half at the bridge. Rainbow Optics will not warranty a valid claim due to me temporarily allowing my kid to use them via a short term repair. This would have been awesome to know when you get the glasses. If you have a child that needs glasses to see I can not recommend Rainbow Optics, they will let you down when you need them to follow through with issues. At the heart of this issue the glasses broke in half and even after temp repair they separated again and are broken. read more

Once upon a time I would have gone nowhere else for my optometry needs. But I am done. My experience with them over the past 3 months shows a business that cares little about their patients. At every level from reception to business owners. An order for glasses that ended after months that was defined as one that would be 3 weeks. After multiple phone calls with no clue when the glasses I ordered would ever arrive, I finally abandoned my order and accepted something less just to be done. Did they give me a partial refund? Yes. After I spoke with the Sean Decalista, the owner. But truly? None of them truly cared. They will speak to you using industry jargon, they will not estimate the length of time before the item will be received and they will provide excuses about how you contributed to the problem. On February 20 I paid $50 to be fitted with contact lenses. I was given trial lens to wear and told to phone in a week to report. When I phoned a week later to tell them that I did not think that the lens was correct, they told me I would have to pay $65 for a new appointment! I thought I paid $50 be "fitted." Despite several phone calls and e-mails, as of today, I still have not been fitted properly for contact lenses! The service there has definitely deteriorated over the years. I am unimpressed and will not ever recommend this company to anyone. I explained how my glasses did not seem correct. They told me I had to get used to them. Well a few months later I called them and told them they are not correct. I cannot watch tv unless I move my glasses way down so I only see out of the top and while at work I cannot look down without waiting for my eyes to adjust still several months later. I see better with my old prescription than this one. It is past the 90 days so they said I would have to pay again for a new exam. I don't think so. I've been going here for about 40 years and so was kind of blown away today when I stopped in to buy a new pair of (expensive) glasses. The man said it would take about 2 weeks, and I gave him my debit card to pay, and told him I've been going there for years and was in their computer system. He looked me up and then proceeded to call someone to do a credit check on me to make sure I could pay. How odd, when you look at my history there and also the fact that it would take so long to get my glasses anyway , that a bad check would show up pretty darn fast. It feels bad to know that after paying over 200 bucks past the listing price of 330 for the glasses, that I have to feel like some low-life scammer. Excuse me for shopping there. read more

Rainbow Optics closed about 4 months ago - only for about a week or so. I know this because I tried to make an appointment to have my prescription filled for new glasses and the automatic message informed me. Turns out this downtime was to 're-train' all employees. Somebody (I heard Lenscrafters) bought them out. I did not know this when I finally got an appointment. I went through the process. But everything had changed. No longer could I choose from top quality frames, only cheap ones. They no longer carry my preferred sunglasses (Maui Jim). Must not be profitable enough for corporate. When I picked the new ones up, the associate made no attempt to fit them, as had always been routine at Rainbow. Just handed me the glasses in the case and shuffled me out the door. Oh, and the warranty we had become accusotmed to - now they charge extra for it. Rainbow Optics isn't Rainbow Optics any more. I'll never go back. The eye exam was decent, got helped fast, however it would be nice if they didn't flip on the florescent light after your eyes are dilated. HOWEVER, the prices are off the charts, I had $200 allowance from my insurance. My quote from them were as follows: Progressive $250 + Poly-carbonate Lens $60 + Blue Blocker Coating $140 + frame, cheapest I found was around $100. Total Glasses: $550.00 Took my prescription to Costco. Progressive, poly, with Blue AND Frames ($59) Total: $189.00. read more

After hearing so much about how great Rainbow Optics was I was excited to go pick out some new frames. When I walked in, a girl simply pointed at a wall and said, "here are plastic frames, here are metal ones," and left me to browse. I was really devastated. I wanted someone to show me frames and help me pick out the perfect pair. No one ever asked me how I was doing the whole time I was looking, and when I went to ask about lens prices, the two girls at the desk were too busy talking about boys to acknowledge my presence. I actually had to interrupt them to get my question answered. The selection of frames was mediocre at best, and definitely stuck to safe styles for women. Came in for annual eye exam and to buy two new pairs of glasses. Prior to arrival, staff informed me of COVID safeguards including mask on, temp screen, and 6' distance. All fine. Checked in and told staff I was going to look at glasses. She pointed to the areas and said ok. Started trying on a pair, she ran over and said I could not touch them and had to wait for a staff to handle them for me. Ok, again fine. Waited for staff who said I could pick out six pairs then I would try them at the desk. Started selecting a variety to narrow down to the two I would buy. When I said it would likely take a few more trips to select the right frames, he then told me I could only select six frames to try on for the entire day. I would have to return another day to try on any more. Are you kidding me? They shop has several staff on hand, I am a repeat customer who actually plans to buy two pairs of high end glasses and I have to purchase the same day of my appointment. I also scheduled for a slow time of day in order to ensure available service. If they had informed me of this new policy, I would not have scheduled the appointment. I will not return due to such poor customer service. read more

I was very disappointed with the service I received earlier today! I walked into a scheduled appointment 11 minutes late and 1 minute past their wiggle room. I had called at the appointment time to say I was at their other location and would be there with 10 mins. I explained the situation to the lady that answered the phone. My appointment was rescheduled and moved from their 13th location to 18th hence the confusion and we'll be right there! I got the appointment and I was told the doctor wouldn't see me because I was a minute late and would have to reschedule. Poor customer service! Poor business sense. This place is so great. They have 3 different locations and been open since 1977. I went in there to fix my glasses because the hinge had broke. No other place could fix the glasses, but Rainbow Optics was glad to help. I sat down and was told to wait 30 minutes. I had no problem waiting because I knew that the break took time to fix. I waited about 15 mins, and then a man with a thick mustache emerged with my fixed glasses! I was ecstatic considering that these were expensive glasses, and the other places I went couldn't fix them. The man shows me what he did to fix them, and then says he put on a new part because he didnt have the original part due to the fact that I didn't buy the glasses from here. He then said, "Since we didn't have the part, I am not gonna charge ya, have a great day!" This is the kind of service you want to go home and tell your friends about. So that's exactly what I am doing. Use Rainbow Optics for any eye care, glass repair, or new glasses you want to buy. You will get exceptional service. read more

This is the worst experience I had with an optic I literally end up in tears.first off I want to say I do understand the situation for the COVID 19 . So I set up an appointment a month ahead of time my prescription is expired and running out of contacts and no back up glasses they tried to cancel my appointment the first time I explained the situation to the lady and she said she would keep me in the schedule after a couple of days another lady called me saying she will cancel my appointment because it was for priority only and I was not because I was not a previous patient ( my doctor passed away so I needed a new provider ) I explained the situation and she said okay we will see you Monday at 3:05 so two days later I have arrived to my appointment and they were completely closed before 5 pm and they didn't even have the decency to call me to let me know I called them the next day and they had no idea what to tell me they said they tried to call everybody they acting like they had a 10000 of patients during the last hour and for some reason they missed me( lies they called nobody there was also a lady waiting right after me and confused about the situation) the man a manager his name was something Walton answered the phone was very insensitive rude and unapologetic about the situation he even seem to be mad about the situation when I didn't make any mistakes it was very unprofessional just to close the store without warning and acting like it was the end of the world obviously not the best reaction under a crisis to panic and make it worse not to mention I got my appointment confirm 3 times !! They have no care for their patients they are not prepared to act properly I am actually in schock on how they handled the situation. read more

I got a new pair of glasses 3 months ago and last night the frame broke. Upon looking closely I identified what appears to be a basic engineering problem with the frame at a critical point of stress that caused the failure - on $200 frames. So I took them into Rainbow today and was waited on by Bobby. Bobby was very reluctant to provide me with loan frames, and required me to explain in detail my medical need before he would grudgingly offer the loan frames. I explained that I had concerns about getting a replacement of the same frame, since it appeared to be a problem that was likely to recur. I asked if I could get a round wire frame with cable temples. He told me that stock is always changing so I would have to look on all the walls and see if I could find anything. Since I use crutches and was already dizzy from using old glasses I was a bit taken aback by his attitude but went and looked and did not see anything that would work on display. He then advised me that they might have something at one of the other stores and I should just drive to the two other stores and see if they had anything in stock that I was looking for... I was appalled. It is 99F today, I am on crutches and have vertigo and am being told that I have to go to all the other stores to see what they might have in stock. I went to the Campus store and explained my problem. The gentleman there (reviewed separately) gave over and above the level of service I expect from Rainbow. I can certainly get cheaper glasses online, I pay a premium to shop locally and for the excellent customer service. I am now in a dilemma about whether I can continue to see Dr Goo but get my prescriptions filled at the Campus location since the service here is so awful now. read more

I worked with an optician named Bobby. He was pushy and somewhat aggressive. My frames were too tight but he said he cold loosen them only a little bit and he was perturbed. He said they have to fit when you choose them from the display. When I have purchased glasses in the past, someone always checked the glasses for comfort and fit without be asked. It is standard practice but not for Bobby. I had to ask and then he was a little perturbed. He said that he could not size the glasses much. Also, my reading prescription was not correct. He made me try clear single circle lenses to see if I needed a stronger or weaker prescription. But I could only hold one of the circle lenses at a time so it was impossible to see if I could read well. He said if the circles worked they would change to a stronger or weaker script the same in both eyes without consulting the optometrist. He strongly discouraged me from seeing the optometrist which I needed to do to correct the prescription. He said I would have to waste an hour to come for another appt. They just didn't want me to come back as the optometrist would have had to see me for free. I consider Rainbow optics to be a rip off. Go to Eyes of the World. A world of difference. read more

Normally I have a fear of visiting doctors of any sort because they don't seem to care about your well being--only your money. Dr. Goo is a wonderful exception and one of the few Doctors that I trust and respect. Peach, the assistant was understanding and helpful as well.
