I wish I could say I had a better experience with this business. I went in early November (around 11/12/24) for an eye exam and to get some new glasses. I was told after my exam that my glasses would be ready in about a week. After two and a half weeks I get a text saying my glasses are ready, I was a bit irked that it was quite a but longer than a week but went in to pick them up and when I arrived they handed me a pair of lavender kids glasses, not what I ordered. They said they ordered the correct glasses but the manufacturer shipped the wrong ones. Frustrating but whatever no big deal. I was assured that they would expedite shipment of the correct glasses and refund me 50% for the inconvenience. Again with the promise that it would be 1-2 weeks for them to arrive. A week or so later I get a text on my phone saying "there has been an update to your order" and when I click the link it says "come in Your glasses are ready for pickup" sweet! I arrive and they look and look for my glasses but are not in the store. They tell me they are going to look into it and call me. I get a call that afternoon saying they called the manufacturer and they have just gone into production. Irritating because I was told they would be expedited and arrive within 2 weeks and here we were over a week in and they're just going into production??? So another 2 weeks go by and I get a call saying my glasses will be ready for pickup between 1/2/25 and 1/6/25 and I'm just ready for it to be done with. On 1/7/25 I called and their automated service says my glasses are ready for pickup but I don't trust it because of the past experiences so I ask to speak with a rep. The rep gets on the line and tells me that they are now estimated to arrive 1/28. I cancelled the order. I'm giving two stars. One because the doctor was very calm, thorough, and efficient, and one because even though it was a messy scenario the desk folks were always very kind and courteous. I would suggest to get your eyeglasses anywhere else, and to the company I would suggest to get a new manufacturer. read more

I had an issue with my glasses and these guys were so understanding and helpful in finding a solution. I will definitely return to pick out sunglasses. Selection is very large in the brands that they do carry. If you like a specific brand they don't have, be aware that it may be tricky to order much beyond the lines they already have. They carry what looks to be over a dozen brands with more selection in the drawers underneath the displays. Friendly and helpful service. read more

I've been going to Dr. Jung for years. I have double coverage insurance and was told after my appointment that the no longer bill one of my insurance because of a change in thier business. I have never brought money to this appointment with double insurance. Today they refused yo give me my Rx after an hour appointment without payment and I would have to get reimbursement from my secondary insurance. I might have been ok with this had I been told in advance of the change. Very poor business practice and customer service almost enough to make me go elsewhere. Buyer beware you can get better service elsewhere.​ read more

I've had more than a few eye exams in my lifetime. This was quite an odd experience. First of all, these folks charge a LOT for a simple eye exam. My co-pay after insurance was the same as what Costco charges for an eye exam. And this was the price for an exam where my eyes get dilated, not the more expensive non-dilation technique available as an option. Related to this, Dr. Jung used to work in Costco's eye department! Second, upon checking in they asked me again if I wanted to avoid dilation for an extra fee and I said no, as the exam was already so expensive. This got a facial expression and a nod of agreement from the person at the front desk. (I was sorry I hadn't canceled my appointment the day before when I found out the price). So we stuck with the lower price. But then the exam came to an end and the doctor had never dilated my eyes. I asked him why not, and he told me that he could see everything he needed to see. He went on to say, "I can still dilate your eyes if you want me to, but there's no need." This left me wondering- was the exam incomplete? Or did the doctor use the newer technique even though I (theoretically) didn't pay the upcharge. Or is the whole thing a scam and they never do dilation, and some people pay the upcharge and some don't? It left a bad taste in my mouth. Third, after completing the exam they ushered me out and sat me down to start the process for buying glasses there on the assumption that was my intention, and even though my prescription had barely changed at all. Already stung by the price, I politely said that I wasn't going to shop for glasses at that moment. (I could see that their frames were at or above the going rate so I wanted to check out other options first.) I paid my copay and left. Last- I went to Costco to shop glasses and actually found a very nice pair for something like $60 for the frames. I had the prescription on paper and handed it to the optician. She ended up having to call Eugene Eyewear to make out what the doctor had written. All in all, this was not a positive experience- probably 1-1/2 stars. I'm not questioning the doctor's competence- the lady at Costco told me he is an excellent doctor. But the whole experience was odd, and significantly more expensive than the alternatives. And I still don't understand the dilation/no dilation experience and wonder if their pricing is on the up and up. read more

I have severe vision challenges and regularly call on the highly professional and very patient staff here to meet and often surpass my tough expectations. I had an On the Job Injury from work (I work for the airline) and from the Hyatt Place over at Oakway Mall area I needed to go to a nearest place to get my eyeglasses fixed because one of the temples legs were very out of bent. I need my glasses to see clearly so I called first then walked in and I asked her is this fixable? Knowing the temple part was bent. She said she wouldn't know how to fix it. Gave her my glasses. Came back about 5 minutes. It was a miracle! Like my glasses were new and polished! Her name was Sarah! One of the Opticians there. I asked her do I owe u? She said no. I'm like what?? If I had cash on me I would've at least given her something! She rocks! She's super super nice and caring. Thanks Sarah! read more

I have been going to this doctor for many years since I moved to Eugene. Always pleased with his professionalism, kindness, and thorough exam. This past year I purchased eyeglasses from here for the first time. After many months, I was disappointed in the frames because the paint was rubbing off, well as disappointed with the anti-glare coating that was becoming very scratched. I returned and showed them the eyeglasses and expressed my disappointment. They were very kind and professional. And solved my problems for me efficiently and to my pleasing. I've gone to eye doctors all over for 37 years. Unfortunately I've passed on my bad eyesight to all of my kids so I've taken them to eye doctors as well. The doctor here is very nice, explains everything and wants to make sure the customer is happy. The staff is helpful and nice. There was very little wait time between the time I arrived and my appointment time. Same on a different day when I brought my daughter. In both instances, our glasses were ready the next day. THE NEXT DAY! I've never had this happen before. When I brought my daughter to her appointment I asked if they could adjust my glasses because I felt they were sliding down. There was no issue with that, they were adjusted and the nice girl said if I needed any more adjusting to come on in. Frames were affordable and I wasn't pressured into the extras on lenses. When I said "no" they moved on. I would highly recommend this place. read more

The staff here is great and helpful. Also very knowledgeable, which makes process of getting things done quickly. Selections of frames are vast and include designer brands. They are also great with kids and for kids. One thing I like here is that if your frames break within a year they are replaced. I have had to use this option a couple of times with my kids. Staff where super nice and got me right in. The Dr was very meticulous and thorough. New glasses I picked came in about a week and fit perfect. Let's just start off by saying I have super-sensitive eyes and really terrible vision. I have been coming to Eugene Eyewear for years and they consistently provide me with excellent customer service and really classy frames. Exams: Dr. Jung is thoughtful and straightforward in his eye exams; his style helps me stay relaxed and he answers my questions in a way that concisely explains his reasoning behind prescription changes (or further tests, if he recommends them). Dr. Jung is really easy to talk to. He is also on-time every time I've been there, which is nice. Selection, Staff & Service: They have a huge selection of high quality frames and the staff will work with you, extensively, to find the right fit to complement your face. Staff recommendations are highly reliable (they do look at people trying on glasses all day) and they know their product. For prescription sunglasses, the staff can help you pick out the lens-color, tint-level and type of coating. This is good, because I prefer to hide behind an opaque, reflective wall-of-cool on days when the sun is out, and that's what I got with my sunglasses. Bonus: You can come in without an appointment to have your frames adjusted so that the fit is right for your situation (which, in my case, meant doing pushups without the glasses sliding down my nose). I also ask them to clean my glasses in the sonic-washer. My need for clean lenses can be described as obsessive compulsive, and the sonic-washer takes them back to never-been-worn perfection. Advice for new glasses wearers: Get the anti-reflective coating, it's worth every penny. It prevents the fish-bowl effect of noticing your own lenses and makes you more photogenic (since cameras won't catch reflections over your face). read more

I have been wearing glasses almost all of my life and contacts for about 10 years and have seen a handful of doctors in that time. Never have I met an office that is so thorough with an eye exam as Dr. Jung and his amazing staff. I appreciate the care, time and explanations that I receive during my appointments. My wife and I have been all over Eugene looking for a good place to buy glasses. After a few meh and a few blecch we found Eugene Eyewear. If the service was only half as good, the selection half as extensive, and the prices half as reasonable I would still give them five stars. No upselling, no gimmicks, just good quality frames at an affordable price (without insurance in our case, but likely your insurance will work there). I LOVE this place! While other offices had told me I needed to call my insurance co. and figure out what benefits applied for myself and my children, Dr. Jungs awesome staff took care of everything. Literally everything! They even found a loophole for my sons new glasses to be 100% covered when nothing from the frame selection that we were supposed to choose from worked. I also have two kids under 4 who are always with me and, let's say, enthusiastic Multiple staff members have happily talked to and played with both kids every time we've been in there, even when they were being super obnoxious (I love 'em, but I know...). It's that extra effort they put in to always make you feel welcome and show that they really care that put these guys a cut above. It doesn't hurt that I ordered my new glasses and they had them ready 24 hrs later. 24 hrs?! I'll never go anywhere else! read more

I stopped in for an adjustment on my prescription sunglasses. I purchased them through an online portal and they were noticeably bent upon delivery. I was hoping some adjustment might make them fit better and no force me to return them. Dr. Jung came out and assisted me in trying to fix these bent glasses. We made 3 attempts to correct them, but were unsuccessful due the extreme warp on these frames. I want to thank Dr. Jung for trying to help me and going above and beyond to help his customers. I wanted to pick a new pair of glasses when we first moved to Eugene and after going to about 3 other different offices, Eugene Eyewear was definitely the one that had the best selection of frames BY FAR! The girls at the front desk as well as the one working with me on my lenses were very helpful, professional, and polite. My glasses were ready for pick up very fast, accompanied by prompt phone reminders. I was impressed the most by the Doctor, though. When I came back a few months later for my eye exam and mentioned the fact the the new lenses I had gotten from them seemed a little too strong, he went out of the way to make sure my glasses had lenses of correct strength and was unreservedly committed to making sure they corrected their mistake at their expense. I was very pleasantly surprise, since I didn't even plan on asking for this correction, I just mentioned the fact as a mater of fact. But Dr. Jung offered it himself and saw to it personally it was done properly the second time. Besides, the quality of my eye exam was also impressive. Dr. Jung really pays attention to the detail, is extremely thorough, but doesn't push his recommendation on you at the same time. I would love to be their regular customer, but we moved to Europe. It took three weeks to get my glasses because the lab damaged my frame and another had to be ordered. When I got them they did not look like the frame I picked out. I was dissatisfied to say the least. Dr. Jung called me the next day and said he wanted to do whatever he could to make me satisfied. He offered to let me choose any frames I want and they would let me keep these glasses until the new ones are in for no additional charge. The staff was very friendly when I made my son's appointment. They were very knowledgeable and professional. I highly recommend Eugene Eyewear. On the day of my son's appointment, we went to the wrong office, I called Dr. Jung's office and asked if we could still be seen though we were already ten minutes late. His staff warned me if we arrived past a particular time we would need to reschedule. As soon as we arrived, they had time to see us and started the appointment immediately. My previous eye care doctor wanted $460.00 for an eye exam and contact lens evaluation. Eugene eyewear charged me $170.00 for the same service. I had an appointment at 10:50. Unfortunately some people were gone from my office so it was crazy busy. I would have cancelled, but I really needed to get in and get a new prescription so I could get lenses. So I went, and when I arrived, I asked if they could get me in and out as quickly as they could. They were super efficient, and got me in immediately. One of his staff did some immediate testing...I can't remember his name but he was very friendly and polite. Dr. Steve Jung did the main exam. He also was very friendly and polite, answered all my questions, and was very efficient. Checkout was efficient and friendly. Overall, I ABSOLUTELY recommend this establishment. The only one downer thing was that someone was wearing patchouli oil (probably a client) and it smelled horrible in the lobby. A note: for the LOVE OF GOD--patchouli oil stinks, people! Do the world a favor and stop wearing it! You may think it's cool, but most people I know think it smells horrible! Ok, I'm off my soapbox before I break an ankle. ;) read more

The staff here are nice, and Dr. Jung seemed competent, but the glasses were a total fail. The first pair broke at the initial fitting, so I had to wait two weeks to get the next pair. The replacement pair were scratched before I got them, and they did nothing to improve my vision. It's been a very frustrating experience. I just want my money back, but that's not an option. Where do I start? Scared to death. Three weeks of hell waiting to see specialist. Told I "could" have a tumor on optic nerve. Told I had double vision. Went through so many eye lenses and lights during exam I almost vomited. Maybe when the patient says the glasses you prescribed a year ago were unwearable you may want to consider that is why they are seeing double on eye chart, especially when they are progressive and the patient hasn't worn them ever. New reading prescription the Dr. prescribed was so off that I couldn't see out of glasses from my left eye at all. Three weeks later, after being referred to ophthalmologist, thankfully I don't have either and my eyes were rechecked by ophthalmologist and correct prescription ordered and I now have glasses I can see out of. It cost me $440 out of pocket because I wouldn't take glasses back because I will never set foot in that office again. read more

Great place to get glasses. Dr. Jung is excellent. Very friendly & calm. Listens to your questions and concerns. Takes his time and doesn't rush you. The office staff, Desirae in particular, are extremely helpful. I absolutely HATE the whole trying-on-frames process. Although I've been wearing glasses all of my adult life I don't look good in them and dread the idea of having to try to find that one pair out of hundreds that won't at least make me look worse. Desirae was patient, kind and funny, helped me pick them out and didn't rush me. She seemed really not to care that I tried on (it seemed) practically every pair in the shop. Also was impressed with the fitting process. She took her time to make sure that they sat correctly on my face as they should. The turnaround time was amazingly fast. I was told 10 days or so; I went in on a Saturday -- they were ready to be picked up the following Wednesday (and that included a Monday holiday!) I highly recommend both the doctor and his staff and will go here from now on for all future spectacle needs.
