Jennifer did my initial scans and was super nice, quick, and explained everything to me very clearly. The process was easy and painless thanks to her. I went with the Nikon eye scan instead of a dilation because I had to drive after and I'm so glad I did. I waited for a bit while Dr. Phillips finished with his previous patient and looked over my scans and paperwork, then he came out and got me for my exam. He was very thorough and showed me my eye scan. I got a new prescription and he walked me out to the lobby again. Alana helped me pick frames and lenses. She picked out several options for me and I picked the one I liked the most with her support. She was very nice the whole time and took the stress out of the whole process. I put off getting new glasses for 14 years because of the stress and anxiety associated with going to the eye doctor and adjusting to new lenses and frames each time your prescription changes. The people here made the entire process so easy that I am confident I won't have any reservations about keeping up with regular exams again.

Dr. Thompson is awesome, she understood my descriptions of how my eyesight seems to have changed from my last pair of glasses and is very personable and easy to talk to. My new rx is great. My new frames are great. And, there's a 2 year warranty if my lenses get scratched or frames get damaged. One of my dogs recently decided my old glasses were super interesting and delicious. A couple months away from the two year mark of having them, he pulled a sneaky and chewed off one of the ear pieces. They were still under warranty and I was able to get a new pair for free. They are now my back up pair, which is very helpful if you have a hound dog that likes to counter surf, despite all of your best efforts.

For quality customer service, do NOT go to Focal Point Optical in Eugene. The frames they fit me…read morefor initially were painful, even after months of trying various adjustments. They finally said I should switch to a style with nose pads. After I tried on several, they said there was only one frame that would work, so of course I got that. Weeks went by while a lens kept falling out; they eventually glued the screw in. It fell out again. Finally they agreed to order me a new frame but it had to be the same model (I did not trust this model anymore, but they refused to let me get something else). Weeks later it arrives from France. After about a month of wearing it, a lens also fell out. By now nearly two years had gone by and I gave up trying to get Focal Point to properly fit me. I asked for a refund of my portion of the cost; they could keep the insurance payment. They refused. Any other optical shop in Eugene warranties their products for two years. Focal Point does not. They stubbornly refused to budge both on the product and on a refund option. Putting profit over customer concerns is poor business.

I was so fed up with my last doctor and not being able to see properly, and them not listening to my concerns or trying to understand what I was telling them about my vision. Well let me tell you that Dr. Rowe is just as much in the customer service business as he is an optometrist. I have rarely had such great personal attention from a medical professional. He genuinely listens to your issues, presents alternatives, values input from his patients, and goes the extra mile to be SURE that you are in the prescription you need and want. I refused to give his office staff any prior information from my other doctor when I made the first appointment. I had lost so much faith in optometrists that I didn't want any prior "facts" skewing his opinion of my eyes and the prescription I would need. I am so happy to say that after THE FIRST visit, I had a set of trial contacts in my hand which I tried over the weekend, came back the following week and we confirmed that these were the contacts for me. I am still shocked at how easy and enjoyable it was! The staff is very friendly and easy to get along with, the office is small and clean and quiet. Very professional.
