I had my first appointment here today and everyone was so nice. Melissa at the front desk got me checked in quickly and easily - I completed my paperwork online ahead of time which saved a bunch of time. Jennifer did my initial scans and was super nice, quick, and explained everything to me very clearly. The process was easy and painless thanks to her. I went with the Nikon eye scan instead of a dilation because I had to drive after and I'm so glad I did. I waited for a bit while Dr. Phillips finished with his previous patient and looked over my scans and paperwork, then he came out and got me for my exam. He was very thorough and showed me my eye scan. I got a new prescription and he walked me out to the lobby again. Alana helped me pick frames and lenses. She picked out several options for me and I picked the one I liked the most with her support. She was very nice the whole time and took the stress out of the whole process. I put off getting new glasses for 14 years because of the stress and anxiety associated with going to the eye doctor and adjusting to new lenses and frames each time your prescription changes. The people here made the entire process so easy that I am confident I won't have any reservations about keeping up with regular exams again. read more

This was my first visit for a complete eye exam and new glasses. My exam was comfortable and thorough. I just wish Dr. Phillips (aka Jer) had been more communicative about his findings rather than me having to ask. New glasses, with the help of Bethany for style suggestions, and the whole process was warm, friendly and stress free. I must admit though, the eye chart is always stressful to me. I told Jer that it is the only test I always fail and he gently said to me "Just guess." That took a lot of the stress out of it for me. Last week, I spoke with at least two people who were very kind and helpful on the phone, and who checked and confirmed my maternity vision benefits. I was told that I could come in anytime to pick out my frames. Today, I drove 20 minutes to get here (between caring for my infant, working, and caring for my mother post-surgery), and the woman at the front desk treated me so poorly. She was short, cut me off, and insisted that my vision benefits were no longer active and would not listen to me assuring her that they were. I had confirmed directly with my insurance within the week. The only reason I did not stay longer to provide evidence that, in fact, my vision benefit is still active is because I did not want to cry in front of everyone in the office. She was so dismissive that I felt embarrassed for being there, even though I was told to come in and pick out glasses. Based on her treatment of me alone, I could not recommend anyone coming here. Not many places can earn a 10/5, they did. Background:I got my rx updated at another eye doctor (not this office) they quoted me 1-2 weeks to get in my contacts. I wasn't happy with that answer, I called MANY, MANY offices to ask if they carried my brand of contact (I use both daily comfort plus by Alcon and air optics color) as well as how long it would take to get my specific rx in. I was quoted a variety of times anywhere from a week to 2. I magically call this office, the staff was quick and knowledgeable about the brands they carry as well as shipping time. They double checked (also very quick hold time) They quoted me 1-2days for my contacts to come in. When I showed up with my ex in hand they knew I was the one who called. Been going to EOTW for years now. My entire family, actually! Dr. Jerry is the best! He is meticulous and exact when it comes to prescribing new lenses. I drive about 45 mins to their offices and I don't mind one bit. State of the art technology and friendly staff. Wore my mask entering the building and kept it on while trying on glasses. The only downfall this time is the very 'sergeant-minded' gal at the desk who quickly and forcefully told me to put my mask back up over my face when I was attempting to facetime my husband and was told to go to the back of the store in order to do that. (Mind you, it was a very quick call AND ... nobody was in the waiting area - nobody!) C'mon people!! A bit much for my likes! But I was not there for her and I quickly moved on, unbothered. I love this office for the friendly personalized care. Dr. Phillips is knowledgeable, friendly and explains everything. He has helped me by correcting my double vision with prisms and has advised and referred me to a specialist for my severe dry eye condition. He utilizes the latest technology and has modern equipment, so I was thrilled not to have bursts of air shot into my eyes or receive dilating drops anymore. There is a broad selection of stylish glasses to choose from in varying price ranges. They are current on their Covid protocol, and I feel safe there. Staff has always been friendly and helpful. Of all the optometrists I have been to, Dr. Jerry is one of the best. While monotony is part of the job, he spent the time necessary to make sure things are right. He appeared professional, and answered all my questions. Other optometrists I have been to are mostly department store/chain store cattle herders. One, who worked at Wallmart, then moved to an eyeglass store in Eugene had the personality of a cactus and dishonest help who supposedly was just "temporary." Another, cattle herder optometrist seeking the lowest possible overhead in a deserted strip mall in east Springfield, rushed me through a 10-minute exam, and scribbled a prescription on a piece of paper. I couldn't read any part of the prescription. When I faxed the subscription to order contacts, they told me this was a prescription for eye glasses! I wear contacts. There was no mention of glasses. As for the other optometrists, my employer is too cheap to continue using VSP so that eliminates most optometrists in Eugene. I'm very grateful for Dr. Jerry who continues to work with my provider. For anyone dissatisfied with their optometrist, I suggest Eyes of the World. read more

I am assuming they say this review, but I received a phone call apologizing for how the situation got handled and would I be willing to bring my glasses in and they would send them to their lab to see if they could fix my frames. I took them in and I received a phone call a couple days later to come in and pick them up, they had fixed them! The best eye care I have ever gotten! Melissa was exceedingly patient and helped me find the exact frames I was looking for. She took the time to adjust my previous glasses and explained a lot of new things about eyeglass wearing I didn't know before. Dr Jerry was also patient, kind and knowledgeable. I had been diagnosed with dry eyes. My previous optometrist just told me to get some eye drops. Dr. Jerry explained what dry eye was, how to help remedy it and explained the physiology of it which made it easy to see why the treatment he recommended would work. The shop is gorgeous with a big selection of VERY unique and groovy frames along with standard frames. They followed COVID standards precisely. I would like to give a big shout out to Eyes of The World. I recently purchased a pair of prescription eye glasses from them. I was moving from only wearing glasses for reading to progressives to help with distance.After getting the glasses home and wearing them for the weekend I decided they were too big for my small face. When I looked in the mirror it screamed "GLASSES!" Feedback from family and friends confirmed my suspicions. I took them back and explained the situation. I was told they wanted me to be happy with my glasses and I could pick out a different pair. I must have tried on every pair in the store and was very confused as to what to choose. I was beginning to feel like a high maintenance woman, especially when the optometrist came over and gave my husband some chocolate to help him " keep up his energy"! Jennifer who was assisting me helped me to feel like it was ok to take my time and she even suggested I take a few of the pairs I was considering, home to show family and friends. I did just that and finally settled on a pair that they needed to order for me in a different color. When I finally picked up the glasses Jennifer again spent time adjusting them to be just perfect for me. I am so pleased with the great customer care and attention I received at Eyes of the World. I feel a little guilty that I've waited so long to write a review because I had such a good experience here. I'm a UO student, and after noticing I had trouble reading slides that the people next to me didn't, I came to eyes of the world for my first eye exam. Dr. Phillips was so thorough and easy to talk to, and clear about what my insurance would cover. I was especially impressed with Jeremy, though! This is my first pair of glasses and I've honestly never even worn sunglasses before because I've never been able to find a pair I like. I'm so picky! I must've spent almost 2 hours trying on almost every pair in the store. I felt so bad being such a pain of a customor but Jeremy was EXTREMELY patient with me, I can't believe he spent so much time with me helping me find the perfect pair! He even picked out pairs for my boyfriend to try on to keep him entertained. EXCELLENT customer service, and I'm so happy with my new glasses! I have been going to Eyes of the World since I first moved to Eugene in 2013. Dr. Phillips and his staff are so kind and helpful! All of my exams are run smoothly and I appreciate that they have the machine that scans your eyeballs (clearly I am not well-versed in optometry jargon) so that you don't need to get your eyes dilated. They never push me to order anything I don't need, which I appreciate. The most amazing thing they've done for me recently is hand-deliver my contacts to my house because I wasn't going to be around to pick up my order for a few days! So thoughtful. This is a long post-so hang in here...My boyfriend wears glasses and I need to get my eyes checked. He used Eyes of the World (EW). He called to ask why his glasses had a now yellow tint to the lens. The first person we called was helpful. She said it was likely due to some reflective thing and bring them in and we can exchange the lenses. Great! My boyfriend went in to drop them off. The woman he dropped the glasses off with was not nice. 'Do you have an appointment??' Where we supposed to? He was surprised and explained his situation, who he spoke to, and why he was there. He thought it was a one-off experience. No biggie. He called to see if his glasses were ready for pick up. The same person responded 'yes they are but you'll need an appointment.' This time he was talking to her in the car and I could hear her. She had a hall-monitor tone and spoke to him like he was a disobedient child. He listened and asked again, 'Well can't I just pick them up if they're ready?" Once she got the 'I'm in charge' out of her system she relented and we swung by and got the glasses. The glasses were great and fixed perfectly. Unfortunately the glass case was missing:( She argued with him about that. Oh dear. At each touching point with EW the rules of interaction were not explained, we weren't given a choice, and there was no plan for follow up or time expectation. I understand businesses are responsible for safety and each have their own code of conduct. So tell us what to do, we're fine with that. How about kind and gentle at the same time? We've had to go back three times since the original visit to get different things fixed. Part of the exam is conducted in a room that exposes you to reflection and light from the main office. I just had the BEST experience I have ever had, hands down, at any eye care center ever. Seriously. I've been wearing contacts for about 15 years and I have always dreaded going in for my yearly eye exam. I hate hate hate going to any kind of doctor...eye doctor, tooth doctor, doctor doctor...and I would gladly go back to Eyes of the World any day. Everyone was amazing. The person I talked to when I made my appointment was friendly and asked the right questions so they didn't even need my insurance card when I went in, the doctor himself was nice and had a fantastic sense of humor, and the woman who checked me in and took my payment was awesome - she saved me $35 in addition to making sure I used the full extent of what my insurance covered.
