I like the proximity and diversity of the products (most of them are very high end, high quality) they offer. The store is divided in 3 parts: cats and dogs in the left building, hay and livestock in the middle (outdoor) and farm accessories, medicines in the right building. When you step inside, you are surrounded by all kinds of healthy natural treats, a wide array of dog food choices, and cute apparel for your pups! What really blew me away was how responsive Rob the groomer was. He met with me, discussed grooming options, and was transparent about pricing, which was super fair. When it came time to bring in my girls, he did an incredible job washing them, cutting their nails, brushing their teeth, and giving my labradoodle the exact cut I had wanted for her. I was impressed by Rob's friendliness and expertise. Jazzed by his amazing work, I set up a second grooming appointment. I knew I had to do it in advance, because Rob can get pretty booked up! About a week before bringing my pups in, my labradoodle had terrible diarrhea and made a mess of herself (and my place). I reached out to Rob, and he told me was totally inundated with appointments, but would fit her in just to bathe her. Later that day, I dropped off my very dirty and soiled labradoodle. When I came to pick her up, she was a vision! She was sparkly white and looked like she had a Brazilian blowout! The amount of compassion and level of attention he still managed to give her on a very crazy day brought tears to my eyes. Today was both my pups' appointment day. I got to meet the owner Andrew, and he is super engaging and passionate about his space. I was again completely dazzled by how clean and well cared for my dogs were. I am grateful to Andrew, Rob, and this place of business for being so fantastic! It is no wonder Top Dog was suggested repeatedly to me, and now I highly recommend them, too!

Their toucans and parrots were spectacular. Yes the store is noisy but the birds seemed very lively and happy. They had huge tortoises as well and some fun reptiles too. The owners seemed to know their animals and I wish them well in their plans to build a larger educational children's zoo here in North County. This was, without question, one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had…read more The older white woman working the floor acted as though helping customers was beneath her. She didn't just come across as rude--she seemed genuinely annoyed and disgusted anytime someone asked her a question. Every interaction was cold, condescending, and unnecessarily hostile. What made it even worse was that it wasn't just me. While I was in the store, I watched her interact with several other customers, and every single interaction had the same dismissive, irritated attitude. She spoke to people as if they were inconveniencing her simply by asking for assistance. It created an uncomfortable atmosphere throughout the store. Customer service doesn't require someone to be overly cheerful, but it does require basic courtesy and respect. This employee showed neither. If someone dislikes interacting with customers this much, they shouldn't be working in a customer-facing role. Management seriously needs to pay attention to the way this employee treats people. One bad employee can ruin an entire shopping experience, and based on what I witnessed, this doesn't seem like an isolated incident. Unless something changes, I'll be taking my business elsewhere.

I simply asked how long my dog would be until pickup. If the answer is anywhere from "1 hour to 3 hours or more," that's fine, just be polite about it. I understand there may only be one groomer and that they're busy, but as a customer, I booked an appointment and am trying to plan the rest of my day. I have errands to run and would appreciate a realistic estimate without the attitude. Waiting isn't even the issue. If someone had told me nicely that they were backed up, I would have been completely understanding. What bothered me was being made to feel like I was inconveniencing the staff by asking a simple question. And while we're at it, the constant pressure around tipping doesn't help. Tipping is meant to reward good service, not compensate for poor customer interactions. Had the experience been more pleasant, I likely would have tipped more generously. The groomer may do great work, but customer service starts at the front desk, and unfortunately that's where this experience fell short for me.
