What a cute pet store! It's definitely 99% a dog store, but they have great cat stuff too. Such a fun place to browse. They actually had a lot of great cat brands that I love and surprising finds. They also have a really sweet card collection in the back corner that was worth it on its own. Lot of dog treats, cakes and cool things I've never seen before. Really fun stop for all pet lovers and owners. If you want something unique for your fur child or a present to someone you know with a pet, this is where you want to stop! Employees were super nice and friendly without being intrusive. read more

Our second time here. Just stopped in to get some of the frozen cupcakes (i.e. "pupcakes") they have in their refrigerator. We got one large cupcake and four smaller ones. All were frozen. Our dog Teddy loves them all. $5 for the large, and $9 for the four smaller ones. Nice employees. We'll be back for a third time. read more

I stopped in here to get more low phosphorus dog food and treats. My CKD senior pup is very picky and the usual food I get was out of stock, the staff there was so helpful in finding another brand that he might like. If your in the market for any specialty food or treats, I highly recommend this place. Finding low phosphorus options is very few and in between and having a knowledgeable staff really helps with the stress. They are on the pricer side but I know when I come in, I will get the help I need. read more

This is my dog's FAVORITE sweet treat spot! If I go to Dream wave coffee she assumes we will be checking to see what samples are there. The absolute best people work here! Every single time I bring the dogs in they get absolutely spoiled in treats and love. The staff is so helpful and knowledgeable. Chris is always so helpful and happy. I've recently had a baby and he saw me carrying in a sleeping baby and mentioned that the next time "just give us a call and we can take payment over the phone and bring the bag out to you car"... LIFE CHANGING. As a new mom that has been such a game changer for me that I can just pull up to the curb, call them and not have to get out of the car! Seems so simple but wow what a difference in making an errand so much easier! read more

My senior dog was recently diagnosed with renal failure and refused to eat her prescription food... and any food at this point besides chicken. My vet recommended Dexter's Deli as another option to look into for kidney safe foods. The worker who helped me was so sweet and reviewed a binder they have that listed kidney friendly food. I wish I could recall the worker's name but she was so empathetic and shared that her cat had kidney issues as well and understood what I was going through with my pet's pickiness. She gave me some generous free samples to provide my pet variety and wished me luck. I'm happy to report that her recommendations worked because my dog was interested in eating again and I was able to transition her onto the prescription food. Thank you Dexter's Deli for being so helpful when I felt defeated. Carly and I are forever grateful and will be back for more treats :) read more

This review is for the mobile pet dental services this business hosts (Qualified Pet Dental). It's run by vets and techs and they do shot clinics as well! It took 6 months of bonding with Cali and getting her comfortable with me to bring her for a cleaning; she came to me with yellow and black teeth and bad breath. We've been doing pig ears and other chews, but she needed something more. Several dogs are treated at once in the van; they do a 7-step process that includes cleaning below the gum line and a polish at the end. I hovered because I was afraid she would be evicted mid-session; they said she was nervous but did great. I witnessed her bounce out of the van; I got back a totally different dog! She's been extra happy and goofy ever since her appointment. I noticed a huge improvement in her teeth; they gave me a chart of her mouth just like humans get. I was sent home with a gel and antiseptic spray for her gums. They gave me a pro tip I might do next time: make her appointment at another Dexter's Deli so I don't ruin this as her happy place. She did go in the deli to choose a treat after, all super proud and happy, so the flip side is, she might be extra nervous if I take her to a location that's unfamiliar. Overall, I am beyond happy with the services offered through this business. read more

I recently adopted a new pup and in my package of paperwork I received a coupon for $50 worth of free items from Dexter's Deli. I brought Koda in and the gentleman that helped me was super nice, knowledgeable, explained everything I was getting in Koda's doggie bag! It was a lot of stuff: full bag of dog food, 1 can of canned food, 2 different kinds of treats, and a few other items I can't remember. I've since been back and love the store! I will be buying Koda a yummy bday treat for his upcoming bday in December :) read more

I love this Dexter's deli. The staff are so nice and they give my pup lots of attention which she absolutely soaks up lol. We are fans of the Stella and chewy brand and they have a good selection here. Parking is not too bad - there is both space on the street and a couple spots in front of the store. Best place for me to pick up a pupcake for the pup's birthday or gotcha day. Also, they will randomly text promos where they give free bags of treats so that's also a plus! read more

We have been going to Dexter's for years, first with our Pit Bull mix Dakota, then with our Blue Heeler Phoenix. Last week, our latest adoptee, a Heeler/Chihuahua mix named Connor, came home with us from his foster parent at SPOT Animal Rescue in Oceanside. Our SPOT representative told us "Go to Dexter's - they support us and give each pet adopted from us a welcome bag. So we took our new doggo in, grateful for the samples they might give us. Imagine our surprise when they loaded us up with all kinds of goodies - wet food, dry food, kibble, a bag of training treats, a food supplement (yummy goodies to pour over his food) and a full armload of loving belly rubs! Needless to say, our appreciation of Dexter's is even greater now. Their employees are always so loving when pets come through the door, and they carry food brands that are hard to find elsewhere, as well as all sorts of nutritional supplements, training aids, treats, toys, harnesses and even a freezer of fresh food. Give your pupper or catto a great and try them out! read more

"My dog wants to party all the time Party all the time Party all the time My dog wants to party all the time Party all the time She parties all the time..." When it comes to pampering your pooch, Dexter's Deli Rocks AWESOMELY! For a few years now we've been shopping here for my beloved Italian Greyhound Madonna's annual birthday party. They stock a brilliantly reliable selection of Pup Cakes and chilled treats for your dogs and cats, along with an excellent selection of high quality foods, snacks, treats, toys,  accessories, etc for our beloved "kids with fur"! Dexter's is seriously like a cross between Whole Foods and Macys for animals!  All of their stuff is extremely high quality, with a First Rate Staff to match! I truly LOVE how they expertly take time and care with each customer to make sure that every detail of pampering our four legged family members is done with the utmost LOVE! They totally know their stuff when it comes to animal care! This year Madonna had a huge birthday party with over 10 guests. Dexter's did her cake beautifully (see my pics/vid). Everyone at the party was raving about her wonderful personalized birthday cake. So much so that they even tried tasting it (the brilliant staff at Dexter's said that it's safe for human consumption, thank goodness) over the yummy Tiramisu Cake that I got for them at Gelson's! If that doesn't say brilliance then I don't know what does. So I've now decided to  make Dexter's my go-to place for Madonna's every day celebrations, not just her annual party one. They sell her favorite treat jerkeys and pizzle sticks here, along with very delicious biscuits. Oh, and aww, just twist my arm...They also sell yummy mini cupcakes for her! Rock ON Dexter's! See you again soon! "She likes to party all the time, yeah She lets her hair down She likes to party down..." read more

I hope it works, but it's nice to know that if it doesn't, there is a chance to try something else. Thanks, DD! I'll be sure to shop again! read more

Jaw dropped the moment I walked in. No, I take that back, the moment I drove up. Super easy to spot. Huge private parking lot. Very convenient off the freeway. The exterior already won me over, let alone I walk in and see it's like a TOYS R US for dogs. Cute stuffed toy overload on top of everything you can possibly think or dream of. They checked ALL the boxes for any dog or cat owner. It was one of those stores where I just wanted to buy everything! My head said yes, my heart said yes, but the wallet said NO, please NO. I loved the presentation of everything, so clean, organized and they had thee best birthday section. If your fur baby is celebrating a birthday, say no more. Come here for not only the cutest cake, cupcakes or ice cream/gelato but also party hats, bandana's, crowns, ahhhh i'm screaming. It was so cute. I ended up leaving with a gold crown for my king and a cake that they can customize it for you. So affordable, reasonably priced and I guess even humans can eat the goodies?? Hmmm, I may try stealing a bite tomorrow he he. Until then, i'll update everyone with photos once my baby has his party. Love you Dexter!! I will be back. Already kicking myself in the behind for not picking up those cupcakes...ah. read more

I decided my year end review update should be a year end letter. You know those long letters people write to you and tell you about the highlights of their year in passing. What is old is new again! I will relive the year at Dexter's Deli on behalf of our dog. Dear Dexters Deli, We enjoyed visiting many pet friendly places this year, including Dexter's Deli You have the cutest toys of any pet store around, which is why we like to visit. Many of your toys are large and durable, which are great for our fur babe. We also like your selection of dog collars, bow ties and flexible leashes. Let's not forget that you have the largest selection of birthday party supplies, including birthday hats, cupcakes and cakes in popular flavors such as peanut butter. In 2018, Kindle got many compliments on his emoji bow tie in the New Year. He indulged in the mini cupcakes for his birthday in November. He participated in a competition with his expandable leash, which was so flexible, it allowed him to make new friends easily. However, the highlight of the year was the most recent purchase of the jumbo holiday gnome. We call him his homie his gnomie. He drags him around the house wherever he goes. The selection was a hit! And, we received 25% off of the item on Black Friday. What a deal! We look forward to more great adventures to Dexter's Deli in 2019. More visits to a super clean, well laid out store. Free biscuits for a trick or two and more quality pet products for just the right moment. To a golden 2019! Happy New Year! xo Elle (Hubby Vin and Kindle too) read more

DEXTER's DELI is right next door to HOOKED ON SUSHI. instead of loitering around in front of the sushi joint waiting for a table on evenings when my eleven-year-old son WYATT and i are what my dad used to refer to as "Class B Bachelors," we sneak next door and pick up snacks for our fur-babies (we have three). these folks are serious about providing pets a happy, healthy diet and have lots of interesting treats. we also grabbed a brush for our littlest dog so gentle she even let's the wife-unit comb her out without a fuss. my thirteen-year daughter likes to go there 'cause she's overly fond of a certain SHOWTIME series and halfway convinced a serial killer owns the place. yeah, i know -- welcome to my world. now you can understand why i sleep with the door locked and one eye open ... read more
