This was, without question, one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. The older white woman working the floor acted as though helping customers was beneath her. She didn't just come across as rude--she seemed genuinely annoyed and disgusted anytime someone asked her a question. Every interaction was cold, condescending, and unnecessarily hostile. What made it even worse was that it wasn't just me. While I was in the store, I watched her interact with several other customers, and every single interaction had the same dismissive, irritated attitude. She spoke to people as if they were inconveniencing her simply by asking for assistance. It created an uncomfortable atmosphere throughout the store. Customer service doesn't require someone to be overly cheerful, but it does require basic courtesy and respect. This employee showed neither. If someone dislikes interacting with customers this much, they shouldn't be working in a customer-facing role. Management seriously needs to pay attention to the way this employee treats people. One bad employee can ruin an entire shopping experience, and based on what I witnessed, this doesn't seem like an isolated incident. We have taken our two little dogs there for three years for grooming and pet exams. The staff is very friendly but the doctor vet who treated one of my dogs he was 6 for our dogs sneezing and cough. We went three times and three times they just upped the antibiotics. When we first told this vet Lonnie symtoms he had said down the road they would scope his nose. They just swabbed it and that night my Sophie had seizures and passed. After his first seizure we took him to a great animal hospital and they put a scope through his nose and there was a huge mass that he would not make it through surgery. They threw in an extra $700 for us to pay and took no responsibility . Please do not ever go to this place. Maybe for grooming but no vet!!! read more

This is my go to PetSmart which is conveniently 5 minutes away from my home. I have placed pickup orders and have been in store multiple times. While I don't get approached consistently to see if I need assistance someone is always willing to help when I have questions. As a new dog parent I appreciate the suggestions the staff makes. This review is for the grooming dept. I brought my dogs a few times here and honestly, they up the prices the day of the grooming. They would add $5-$15 for detangling, flea shampoo blah blah on top of the expensive price they charge for grooming. I'm not happy that they do this, but I paid for them the last few times. Today, they tried to do that again. I called 2 wks ago to schedule a service. Listen, I don't expect a big song and dance when it comes to customer service, but minimal politeness and acknowledging customers should be the bare minimum for working retail. Whenever I come to this location, there is rarely any staff working the floor, so you have to stand awkwardly at the register and wave someone down. Since there are no other employees this should be expected that people will try and get help at the front. I stood at the register for awhile while three employees talked and actively tried to ignore me. I said "excuse me" as nicely as possible and the man on shift all but growled at me as he glared at me for speaking. I did want to ask if they'd price match as Amazon was literally $40 cheaper (I could have handled a "I'm sorry we don't offer that) and he was so rude when he said "just go buy it on amazon" which I could have done without asking. When I finally did check out my other items, the woman didn't even say hello or ask if I found everything ok. She just said "what's your phone number" repeatedly as I was trying to get my items out of my cart and juggle my kid. The man and this woman were clearly talking about some drama behind the scene right in front of customers. Again, I don't expect stellar personalities and over the top acting, but this place has disgruntled employees and poor management just from the way it's run. There is a woman named Sharon that works as a cashier or in the fish department who is extremely unfriendly and rude. I gave her the benefit of the doubt the first time this happened because everybody has bad days. Went in today to purchase a new fish for my daughter's community tank and received the same unfriendly and rude treatment so needless to say I politely asked for her name and we left without purchasing anything. One star -- Disappointing and unprofessional. I called ahead to ask about a fish shipment and was told it had arrived. I drove to the store shortly after to pick out a few fish, only to be told by the blonde employee unpacking the shipment that they wouldn't be sold..allegedly because they needed time to settle in. What's strange is that I've bought fish on shipment days before with no issue. This time, it felt like there was another reason the way she acted snappy made it seem like she might have wanted them after her shift..even though she didn't outright say it. The whole thing felt off and inconsistent... when I've been to this store many times. Also, from a fish care perspective, it makes no sense to refuse a sale just to stress the fish again the next day. If settling in was the real concern, they'd need to be observed and treated for several days... not just overnight. I brought my cavalier Zoe to get groomed and Yvonne did an amazing job. I've been taking her to petsmart for years and I swear this is the best haircut she's ever had! Usually I just shave her down because she's hot but I wanted to add a little trim to her ears, front legs, and tail. She was able to do everything I asked, even when we both thought we'd have to shave it completely if not cute. Their grooming salon is the worst. At 8:24 in the morning they have 3 hrs window and if you are over 15 mins late they cancel your appointment. Not like you can call because the store is closed. They reschedule me for a bath and brush and checked my dog for knots prior to booking the. When I arrive the same day they check him again then say yup we can brush the tail you have to again reschedule. I take my fur babies, Sierra and Suzy, here to their grooming department. Suzy gets a bath and blow dry and Sierra gets the full cut, blow dry, and nail package. I came into the store at 8:53 PM tonight. I knew exactly what I needed and grabbed the three separate things that I needed and then realized when I got up to the cashier that I did not have my phone with me that had my dog prescription on it for his Rx-only food, after she rang me up. The sweet little cashier told me I had time to go to my car and come right back before they close and lock the door on me and she had already rung me up.. I went quickly to my car, which was 20 feet away, and came right back and as I was approaching the door, the manager lock the door on right in fro t of me on me and then proceeded to ignore me when I was knocking on the door telling her that the cashier had already rung me up and I was loudly telling her through the glass that the cashier told me I could go to my car and get my prescription. They still had other customers still left in the store and she would not let me back in the store and proceeded to ignore me. This manager appears to be really burnt out and has no customer service ability. There are many competing stores that serve animal needs, this is not the only store in town and I will be filing a complaint with the corporate office because she did it intentionally and maliciously and she needs to find another job where she isn't working with people. I'm so angry with this poor treatment. Edit: Blonde ponytail female about 30-35 years old about 5'4" at right about 9pm. SHE NEEDS TO FIND A JOB THAT DOES NOT INVOLVE WORKING IN CUSTOMER SERVICE. So yesterday I ordered two cases of canned dog food and three bags of potty paper. I had curbside pickup. The guy that came out was tall, thin and grey hair. I asked him if he could put the items in my backseat. Instead of placing them in nicely he "threw in the three bags of potty paper" which weighed 8-10 lbs each then put the two cases of food in. I told him thank you and just walk off to gather carts. This is the third time of dealing with this guy and he's awful. I will find out his name and report him to the district office. read more

Congratulations PetSmart for receiving my first ever 1 star review - I would have given this location zero stars but that is unfortunately not an option. I had set up an appointment for both a cat grooming as well as a nail trimming. The woman over the phone told me that I needed to provide documentation of my cats vaccinations upon arrival. I informed her that I am not the original cat owner, and I was worried the previous owners would not have that paperwork. She assured me they should have it, and any form of proof would suffice. I eventually received the paperwork from the previous owners, and headed to my appointment. On the way, my cat became car sick and threw up all over herself. I felt awful for brining my cat in, in said condition, so I apologized to the staff as I checked in. I then tried lightening the mood by mentioning how thankfully my cat is scheduled for a grooming. The lady gave me a snarl and said that I had only signed up for a nail trimming. I assured her I had signed up for both, but the lady said she could not have my cat groomed until their next opening (which was 8 days away). Left with no option, I said we might as well just trim her nails and proceeded to show the vaccination documents. The lady then said these documents need to be updated and they can not take my cat in general. This location should consider educating their staff on how to properly inform, as well as treat potential customers so nobody else has to leave empty handed, (other than my hands which were full from a traumatized cat covered in throw-up). read more

Showed the clerk the screen shot of their website, the clerk said something about the small print at the bottom and that there were certain "conditions" to get that price. This is for grooming only. Been there twice as the first cut was so short it took 17 weeks for hair to grow back to my satisfaction. I have owned Cocker Spaniels for over 15 years, never ever have I had a groomer who won't take the time to brush out my dog, and groom her accordingly to a cocker cut. My dog looked like a cat when I picked her up. So now I am going back accepting that she may had a lot of matting and it was the only way. Being that she finally got some growth back I said let's get her face and head shaved cocker style but just take like half inch on the body and legs, she had not enough hair yet for a standard cocker cut. She had me pay 25 dollars more for special shampoo to help with matting, which was crazy her was way too short to even mat, Anyway she took more than half inch again my dogs hair is gone, I mean you pay 100 for a grooming it does not mean make your life simple as a groomer and just shave all the hair off, I can do that for nothing. The bottom line is if you are looking for a beautiful cut, go somewhere who will take the time and get what you pay for, if you are just shampooing and shaving this is the place! I will now wait 17 more weeks and go elsewhere. read more

Every time I have visited this Oceanside location Rosemary the Cashier on duty. Any time I have had a question or need to find a product Rosemary directs me straight away. This last time I bought a no pull dog collar. When I went to pay Rosemary demonstrated on how to put it on my pup. She also recommended that I watch a couple utube videos on what and what not to do with the collar. In conclusion you cannot replace experience or train a person on "Customer Service" and Rosemary has both! The store staff at the PerSmart are friendly and know products and where they are so I appreciate that after my cat gets checked I can buy my supplies here. One stop shop. I prefer them over PetCo. It's hard to get an appointment if you have a sick animal (non/emergency since they have a lot of regular annual check up patients every day. Also the receptionists take copious notes about your pet's condition so that makes my life easier and you can create an on-line profile to check results and diagnosis for your pet. read more

I took Angel, an 8yo Bichon Frise, for a bath and haircut. She has had bath and brushouts every 2 weeks rotating between Petco and myself. She gets her face, feet and fanny washed every day after her dinner and walk. I am a retired RN and have enjoyed caring for Angel, a sweet lap dog. Her owners are out of the country awaiting paperwork to send for her. They delivered her to me with a new haircut 3 months ago. I decided to try PetSmart for grooming because it is closer to my home and I enjoyed meeting the grooming staff when I was in the store looking for a comb for her backside. The groomer who helped me took a comb to Angel's back and said she detected matting. I pointed out a mat I'd found behind her right ear and upper arm. Other than that there was no other matting and I thought she was exaggerating. Bichon's hair is tight curls and a specific brush is required. When I returned to pick her up she had been shaved with only sparse hair left on her face, ears and top of head. I am devastated as the owners will be when they see her. The store manager would not take responsibility calling it "miscommunication". I filed a complaint with corporate as this was poor judgement and extremely poor customer service. Why wasn't I called before the groomer did this to her? They do have a satisfaction guarantee so my $63 was refunded, but it will be months before her hair grows back. read more

Then when we picked up our dog, he was shaking and not as happy as he normally is from the other location's grooming services. We normally go to the Marron Rd. location but they were fully booked weeks out and this location was wide open. Now we understand why. Also a voucher we had did not register from the invoice. She does such an amazing job and really listens to what you want to have done. I still can't get over the kindness she had shown my sweet Sofia for her birthday this year. This review is for the grooming salon. I took my Pomchi in today to get a bath and shaved. Naomi did an AMAZING job and she was so sweet and caring. One of the cashiers was so rude here. I drove over 15 min not realizing how far this petsmart was into Oceanside. I tried calling to see if they could bring my item to the register since I knew I was cutting it close to them close. No answer. It was 9pm and I asked the lady if I can run and grab my small bag of food. She said no we're closed. I said it was only one small bag. My dog doesn't have any food. She said I could get it at the grocery store. I said no, they don't carry royal canine. My self being in customer service, I would have let the client go and get it. I get that they were closed and want to go home but it's not like I wanted to take my time and shop. It was only 1 small bag of dog food. Smh! read more

I was the first in line right behind the people trying to return something waiting forever with a little 3 yr old. They finally opened another check stand but took all the people standing BEHIND me!!!!!!! Shouldn't I have been first since I was next in line?? Then the girl goes sorry we are understaffed??!!!!! Exceptionally rude! Today is a holiday (Labor Day, for Pete's sake) so they're closing at 6. Ok, fine. At 5:55, overhead announcement says they're closing in 5 minutes. Fine. I don't agree with doing that, but ok. Then at 5:57 anther announcement. Then at 5:58 they turned the lights off. No kidding... turned the lights off. Only the emergency lights were on. Ok, well we were heading out anyway but what do you know, one register opened and six people in front of me and two more people behind me. Luckily, there are other pet stores to choose from and I don't need to subject myself to crappy customer service. On another note, I've been to this location at least 40 times. I have never felt "pushed out" and the employees are helpful and pleasant for the most part. A few snarky grumps, but that's probably just who they are as people. I'm a one-strike kind of customer though, so it's unlikely I'll be back. read more

DO NOT COME HERE! I came here to to get my dog groomed and had one of the worst experiences possible. The lady at the front had literally no commen sense of the thought process of a dog. She took my dog with a terrible attitude, then proceeded to lift her hand above the dog's head, which is something that any person with an knowledge of dogs would know to not do. As expected by her actions, my dog bit her and refused service to me and my dog. I hate writing bad reviews on Yelp, but this place definitely deserves it. I have never been more angry with an employee than I have been right now. This person has no sense of her job handling dogs and doesn't even have the customer service decency to have a job that requires that simple skill (customer service). I would not even feel comfortable leaving my dog with this employee considering her evident lack of understanding of her job and with dogs. Overall, terrible experience because of this one lady and I reccomend, like myself, never coming here. read more
