This morning I stopped by Petco for a return and some new dog collars, and even though I was overwhelmed and exhausted, the staff completely turned my experience around. Ed (or Eddie) helped me with my return quickly and graciously, even without tags or a receipt. When I went to look at collars, another employee (whose name I sadly missed) kindly pointed out that the ones I had chosen might be too big for my Frenchie. She took the time to explain how to check fit--making sure you can only slip two fingers under the collar so the dog can't wiggle out. Her expertise and kindness really stood out. At checkout, Marti helped me with my purchase. On my way up I accidentally knocked over a display, but she didn't hesitate to pick everything up and still treated me kindly and patiently. She even guided me through fixing my card in the reader when I inserted it wrong. Even though I was frazzled and in a rush, she treated me with the same professionalism and friendliness as the customer before me. I just want to say thank you to the whole team at this location. They are consistently hands-on, knowledgeable, and kind. Today was no exception--I left feeling truly grateful for the help and care they showed me. Hank and Honey love their new harnesses.

OMFG! DO NOT GET SHOTS AT THEIR CLINIC. They would not give my cats a booster leukemia shot without a test. They were tested and vaxed last year. Up to date on shots. No leukemia vax without test. So I said ok and paid the extra $35 reluctantly. They hurt my little 11lb Vinnie. She won't purr. She won't eat (eating is her favorite activity.) We barely got 1 churu down her all day. She can barely walk she's in so much pain! It took 3 tries to get blood for a test she didn't need and they hurt her so badly. I'm giving her a day to recover, then i will have to go to the emergency vet. Don't go there! Spend more at a good vet. They forcefully upsell and then hurt your baby.

Alyssa N in the grooming department who took care of me made my experience a good one. She understood what kind of groom I wanted for my dog. Overall happy.

    Cuts on right armpit

We went to the San Marcos Petco for grooming for the first time 4/25/25 and will NEVER go back again. We stayed around the area for the duration of our pup's grooming and observed a rushed job from the groomer. Afterwards, we found cuts all over our pup's armpit areas, her stomach area, and near her private area. A small nick here and there occasionally is normal sure, but this is not acceptable. We have never gotten our pup back in this condition before from any groomer and this was distressing to discover. Our pup does not struggle during her groomings so there is no reason she should be leaving the appointment with this many cuts unless it's negligence and lack of care from the groomer's end. Not only was our instructions not followed for the groom, but she came back injured. Not acceptable and would not recommend anyone to schedule an appointment with Alyssa N.

Full service, tons of toys and treats to pick from. Reasonably priced and a huge selection and conveniently located.

    Scares on her body

Horrible service would not recommend for grooming. My dog's hair is all different lengths, did not smell like she had been washed, and not to mention she had different cuts all over her body, which upsetting . She is a in door dog has never had fleas. Going in to the groomer no fleas and getting her back I notice she had some. Do Not bring your pets here!

I've been calling their number and it says "this number is unallocated". Anyone know if this store closed down?

This store is closed and was not recently remodeled (Escondido was). Looks like it's being remodeled now and has a generic sign posted about pet services coming soon, but don't know if it will still be Petco.

We toured their house prior to Grayson's stay and it's well kept, clean, with great big yards both front and back. Grayson came home more obedient, learned how to dress before going outside and "get naked" after going outside, load in and out of the car, ring a bell to let us know when to go potty, "touch," sit, down, and the biggest thing for us is he's more comfortable in the car and listening to music (he used to bark at music like crazy). He doesn't pull on his leash as much and walks are more comfortable and less stressful. Grayson even got socialized with other dogs and cats! He does not bark as much anymore, which has been great for my nervous system Grayson got a bath before he came home and came home with a wonderful goodie bag. They used primarily positive reinforcement training with Grayson with some other tools. It was very effective. Working with Shannon and Sierra, you can tell they really care about their furry clients and take a lot of pride in their work. We will definitely be using them for future boarding for our furbaby. We've had no out-of-control barking incidents; he can be tethered and remain quiet. He's very good on walks, moving from "heel" to "break" and back to "heel" again. He's very responsive to the "off" command, which we use primarily to keep him off the furniture and out of the kitchen. Last week we had friends over for dinner and after his initial excitement he was a good boy, lying nearby content and chewing on a bone. We even attended the Humane Society Walk for Animals at Kit Carson Park, and with hundreds of dogs and people and non-stop activities, he was again a very well-behaved boy. We are so appreciative of the work that Michelle did with Monty. He is now the dog we always hoped he would be - happy, well-behaved, and living his best life!

I honestly don't know how to fully express my gratitude to David and his team at Performance K9…read more My dog, Pooka, is a German Shepherd who is almost nine years old. He has always been high-strung and reactive, and he was aggressive toward both strangers and other dogs. Every daily walk was spent in fear and constant tension, and I had almost given up hope that he could ever change. By chance, I was talking with ChatGPT about my dog, and it recommended Performance K9 Training and Boarding School as something worth trying. To my surprise, Pooka passed David's interview and was accepted into the program. After just three weeks of training, Pooka is a completely different dog -- a calm, obedient good boy. I no longer have to be on edge every time I take him out. To make sure the change was real, I stood with him outside a busy grocery store. With people coming and going all around him, Pooka showed no fear or agitation, and he did nothing to embarrass me. He was as calm as if he were at home. I could hardly believe it. David truly lives up to his reputation as a world-championship-winning trainer -- he understands dogs and genuinely loves them. I'm also very grateful to Sabrina, Julia, and Christina, who are warm, responsive, and attentive, and who make clients feel welcome and at ease. Once again, thank you to David and the entire Performance K9 team. I highly recommend them to anyone reading this review. I cannot recommend Nikki enough when it comes to dog training. Before I started training with…read moreNikki, I was seriously considering rehoming (giving back to the original rescue) my dog as I felt ill-equipped and completely lost with his behaviors. I genuinely believe that if it wasn't for Nikki, my dog would likely not be alive right now as he probably would have been marked for behavioral euthanasia. Nikki saved my mental health and saved my dog Waldo. I hold immense gratitude for all of the help she has provided us. Nikki exemplifies what it means to be an expert in the field: her methods are evidence-based & she is always staying up-to-date with the most relevant information available. I found Nikki when researching private agility lessons for my reactive dog. While I never had any intentions of performing, I knew that my high-energy dog, Waldo, would benefit greatly from learning new experiences and confidence building. The first time Waldo and I met Nikki, I knew I wanted to work with her. She wasn't phased by his loud barking or lunging. Nikki immediately started guiding me on ways I can change my posture & breathing as well as informing me what Waldo's body language was telling her. After just one session, we discovered his reactive behaviors were actually fear-based (not solely aggression-based as other trainers had led me to believe). Then came the hard part: the (unintentional) reinforcement of these behaviors that I had caused due to my own ignorance. Nikki was realistic about progress and the time it would take. She won't lie or cut corners to tell you what you want to hear. It was her honesty and humility that had me sold. I only saw Nikki once a week with Waldo, but after working with her for almost 2 years we saw SO much progress. Waldo is much more confident in high-stress situations. I have a full tool kit of tricks I can use inside as well as outside the house. The training never stops when you leave the session! Nikki taught me so much about reactivity & threshold. That training has to happen when they are below threshold!! She doesn't assign morality to dogs. I remember saying "Waldo is a bad dog and I don't know what to do with him" and she gently corrected me by saying "Waldo is not a bad dog, he is A DOG and he is scared. What we have to do is show him that he doesn't have to be scared and that takes time & trust." We were able to slowly work our way up to having Nikki approach Waldo without a fearful response. And eventually even had Waldo take treats from her hand and respond to her giving him commands. AND THEN, we were able to have Waldo in the same space as Nikki's dog Charm. Charm was so unbothered by Waldo's barking it was honestly a comedic relief. Charm lives up to her name. She is a beautiful, smart and oh-so sweet dog. Just having neutral // positive interactions around another dog was vital to Waldo's success and confidence building. Also, knowing that Nikki trusted me and Waldo to be able to interact with Charm after we spent so much time in 1:1 training helped MY confidence as well. I learned sooo much from Nikki, I could probably write a book just singing her praises. While I was devastated when I found out she was moving, knowing that she is going to continue educating dog owners and offering these valuable training lessons helped lessen the tears. Everyone in my life that knows Waldo has seen long-lasting, impactful changes in his behavior. And all of the praise goes to Nikki and her techniques! Come to Nikki with an open-mind and a willingness to learn. She very well could change your life for the better, the way that she did mine (and Waldo's!).
