I sent my 1 year-old German Shepherd for obedience lessons as I had been struggling to correct them myself. After thorough research, I decided to go with David and team, needless to say I am glad I made the decision to go with them. My dog would be pulling on leash when walking, ignore recalls, become too reactive towards other dogs, and simply not listen to what I would ask him to do. It was apparent I needed additional help since I couldn't get it done myself.. 2 weeks of board and training sounded too long to drop my pup off since my life revolved around our routine. However, communication was made every other day on my pups progress with pictures. It was great reassurance that he was in good hands. Fast forward 2 weeks later, we picked our boy up and wow... simply put a different young German Shepard. Almost in disbelief in how fast his progress was considering the timing he was dropped off. He now sticks to my side when on a nice walk, I'm no longer having to pull on the leash nor does he pull. When we encounter dogs on our walks, he now listens to me when I say to ignore and goes on about his day (would never be the case before). He also has been amazing at recalls, when I say "let's go" he walks gently next to me and when he's from a distance and I say "come" he will come right to me. He also listens when I tell him to stay down and wait for my next command. Additionally, when we're at home he now knows to stay and wait in his place when on command. It's been a complete 180 for my pup and I. Even our neighbors have been complementing his ability to listen and look at us for permission before making a move. Update to my review I did when my dog did his board and train. My dog had success with David's training program and had maintained his training until last year when another dog ran up on Rezzie and attempted to attack him and around the same time we had more reactive dogs move into our building. After this event I noticed Rezzie regress into certain old habits and I reached out to use one of our lessons because I needed help. Turns out after this lesson, a friend of someone we knew brought her malinois to David and when she brought up Rezzie, David thought it was appropriate to refer to my dog as a fail and say some pretty disrespectful things. Maybe he doesn't care because business is business and there will always be more dogs that need training but I used to be happy to refer Performance K9 anytime anyone asked where Rezzie went. Thankfully after my last lesson and the adjustments David made, it helped and we no longer have issues. I still have lessons left but should I ever have something come up again, I will not be using my remaining lessons. We brought our pit bull mix and our Chihuahua mix to David for the 2 week boot camp training and could not be happier with the results. My wife and I called to schedule training sessions with our Begain Manlinois puppy and we were able to schedule a free consultation with David Greene (the owner). It took several weeks for this business to call us back. We were referred to David from one of the Belgain Malinois clubs in San Diego, granite they could not train this breed any longer. Well David's website is very outdated. His claim to fame may of been 3rd. in the world with his dog, but what has he done since then except to take peoples money and be unkind to there pets. He told my wife and I that he would not work with our puppy unless we paid for three weeks of in house training. So David said we needed to pay $3,700.00 for our puppy to live in a cage day in and day out for three weeks. But our pup would be out 3 times a day, get training, a video everyday along with emails to follow up with you to ensure your pet is in great hands and will live as comfortable as they would be living at home. Oh and we can not visit. His second sell was that we are booked, you can not get a date for at least 3 months out!!! My wife and I had heard enough, especially since he said our puppy does not respect us and that he could fix that. We asked David how will he build a bond with our puppy and he said he will stay in his kennel and be fed treats until he trust us. David will build a bond with our puppy while being locked in a cage feeding him treats through the bars and our puppy could be locked in the cage for a day, two, three, a week or more. So a Belgain Malinois that needs pyhiscal stimulations and mental high activities will be locked in a cage, taken away from his home and family but Don't You Worry, your Puppy/Dog will live a comfortable life while they are here and will also go to the bathroom where they have to live. We wanted to be hands on with continouis training with our pup but also build a bond with a professional in comfort of having a dog sitter. David Greene should not have a business license, he certainly does not have any degree or any true education in training, boarding or handling any dog/animal for that matter. My wife and I got several calls after meeting with David saying they have a few openings within the next few weeks and we had not made a decision to trust David Grenne method of training. If you were a true professional Puppy/Dog trainer David you would know that not every program and one way works for every puppy/dog or owner he speaks to. David manipulates every client that comes to the property and he has brain washed his staff members. One trainer we met, he flat out said if your a dog trainer be expected to get bit, and of course it's the trainers/facilites fault!!!! We decided to go ahead and have our puppy enroll, after the first day no call, no video, nothing. We texted the next day and the response was, the team is building a bond. Nothing the following day. We then got back in touch with David's front office and finally we went down to the facility. Our puppy was scared half to dealth, starved, dehydrated, had diarrhea, so very nervous!!!! We paid for 3 weeks of training for our puppy to be promised an amazing experience and our puppy was traumatised and we were scammed out of $4,000.00. We also felt David Greene was out of it the few times we met him. Performance K9 training should be shut down. Do not risk the safety and your pets wellbeing. Congrats on Morgan G. for coming foward and more of you puppy/dog owners pay clear attention to so called animal trainers that have a website since anyone can have a business website and business name!!! So all that David could do was put the blame on someone by the name of Julia, since we did not say our puppies name or our names which you can see our name on our yelp account. I have an 14 mo Rhodisian Ridgeback. Even though he knew basic commands, he was starting to be too strong for me to handle. My Rhodisian was with David Green and his trainers for 2 weeks. David and his wife Christina and the ENTIRE staff at performance K9 Training are the most kind hearted and compassionate souls I have ever met. We had a heartbreaking situation with our dog (who is 7 years old) where he became physically aggressive towards myself and my wife and bit her badly enough she had to go to the ER and be admitted overnight for a badly infected wound for IV antibiotics. I was completely distraught and had no idea what to do. We had a consult with David and he was open and honest and raw, it wasn't easy to hear but we were not ready to give up on our boy. He did the 3 week reactive board and stay with David and his team and we could not be happier with the results. They sent pictures and updates every 3-4 days and even let me bring my boy a treat on his birthday. It was the hardest 3 weeks of my life and I opted to do the take home pick up lesson by myself, but as it turns out I was completely and totally overwhelmed and broke down mentally and emotionally, crying and shaking in-front of David and his staff saying I wasn't ready to bring him home alone yet - David and Christina helped me through and offered to keep our boy until my wife could join me for the take home training - 4 whole extra nights. We came back 4 days later and David walked us through everything and brought back confidence in both ourselves and our dog. We are now home and happy and working on what David has taught us and I could not be more grateful for him, his employees and his training philosophy. I cannot thank David and Christina enough. Our little Corgi looks so small and sweet but he had aggression issues unfortunately that led to a serious bite attack on me. I was always nervous about boarding him, getting him groomed, or taking him to the dog park. The day he finally bit me, I decided to research the best aggression specialist in our area and found Performance K9. My dog has done a complete 180. Now he listens to me the first time, and he's been home for a week and we've had ZERO fights with our other dog. This is after 3 months of **daily** fighting episodes. It is the first time I've felt in control in the 2.5 years we've had him (he is almost 3 years old). It requires a lot of monitoring and vigilance, but were able to easily shut down any tenseness or precursors to a fight and things have been peaceful since the very day he came home. I am so grateful to have found Performance. David was so kind and patient and showed my husband and I both how to maintain my dog's new wonderful manners. Understand when he was around 6 months, we had both a private in-home trainer as well as a 4 week board and train program in Sun Valley that didn't help him or us almost at all. He still wouldn't walk on a leash politely and obviously was still having resource guarding and aggression issues. I am amazed how David was able to transform him into a little gentleman. Also, the day after we brought him home, I had a little bit of an issue with having him listen to me. I texted Christina, and David called me just a few minutes later and gave me plenty of time on the phone to explain how to handle everything and that issue has not been a problem ever since. My dog has put on weight because he pulled and yanked on his leash with such intense force that he tires out and hurts his joints. He was the "boss" on our walks. He could only go a block before he needed to stop to rest and he'd be absolutely exhausted, sore, and crabby. Now I can walk him the same route as our 5 month old Aussie because he calmly walks on a loose leash at my side at a leisurely pace and our walks are much longer. He politely stops when I stop. If I ask him to slow down or speed up he politely sticks right by my side. Distractions are not an issue. He comes home happy and calm and tuckered out and happy with no soreness. You get picture and video updates every few days, and you get 3 in-person sessions to learn how to maintain the training properly. Plus they do boarding for a really inexpensive rate (less than the major commercial kennels) and they will maintain and brush up his manners. They took such great care of him, I'll be bringing him back without question when we need boarding in the future. I am thoroughly and amazingly impressed with our results and would recommend David to any of my friends or family without a second thought. Thank you, David and Christina!! We truly cannot express how grateful we are to David for the incredible work he did with our dog Kuzco. Kuzco came to us when he was three years old and from day one he was incredibly reactive with other dogs while on a leash- he would lunge, snarl, and nearly pull himself out of his harness to attack any dog that got near us (other than his siblings who live with us). We don't know what happened to Kuzco in the past but we are a family that likes to be outside (and take our dogs with us) so it made things challenging. Following a knee injury, our very lovable chocolate lab had become increasingly aggressive with other dogs that resulted in us avoiding even taking him on walks. We didn't realize how much we were making modifications in our daily life to avoid other dogs. We had a hard time acknowledging his behavior as aggressive because around the house and with our children, he was an absolute love and big teddy bear. This past summer, he got into a scuffle with a "friend's" dog that resulted in her turning our dog into animal control and us having to quarantine our dog (not hard to do, since we avoided having him around other dogs anyhow). With our dog now having a record, we were desperate and scared! David and Christina came in and not only saved our fur baby, but have transformed our lives. Not only can we take our dog on walks again, we can take him to our local park and let him run off leash-something I had come to think would never happen again. Just the other night, we were unloading groceries from the car. My 10 year old walked in the house, and in typical 10 year old fashion, left the front door open. In the past, our 90 lb dog would have bolted and run away. I looked up and there he was, standing there looking at me and waiting patiently!! I can't put into words how amazing that was!!! My 1 year old boxer/German Shepard mix was very aggressive and would bark at anyone on a walk. It was not pleasant to take him anywhere. I did tons of research on dog training facilities, before we found performance k9 training. We did the 2 week board and train program. After the training our dog is completely changed in the best way ever! He still has the same loving personality, but now he has manners and doesn't bark at other people or dogs on walks. He also used to pull on the leash really bad, now he just walks by my side! David and his entire team are very friendly and amazing at what they do. I cannot recommend them enough. I can never thank Performance K9 enough for transforming my 15 mo old Rottie. We went through basic obedience package at Petco and 2 private sessions with a dog trainer but she's still had issues with recall and would bark or try to chase UPS or garbage trucks! I should have went to David right away. He is so good and patient with us! Money well spent. My big girl is now well mannered and obedient. We continued what we learned from the lessons and a month after Nova's training finally brought her to a family gathering with lots of new people and small kids. It was awesome, she's so calm didn't get excited, listened despite the distractions or stayed at her place. My Husband and teenage dtr have been walking her with a loose leash or none at all which is something we never imagined we can do before with a sprenger collar! I am proud that she is a loving and respectful dominant breed. Will def board my Rottie here anytime I go on vacation bec they took real good care of her. read more
