We hired Cara to help us with our 6 pound puppy Pepper, who was terrorizing our 15 year old dog and displaying aggressive/defensive behavior towards everyone but me. We are absolutely amazed! We have a 3 year old Cockerpoo that we purchased during COVID. Because of that, she didn't get the socialization that she would have received. Ellie Mae was anxious, barked all the time at anything, people walking their dogs by our house, delivery trucks, basically anything or for no reason. Cara was able to work with our dog who came to us at 7 months with some pretty aggressive behavior towards nearly all other dogs as well as being overly protective (barking) when other people would come over, drop off packages, pass us on the street, etc. Within 3 lessons this was almost 100% resolved. On our 4th lesson we went to a dog park and we were able to let her off her leash and play with other dogs. I have to be honest, I did not expect that. I realize it's difficult to tell if a trainer will be helpful based on good yelp reviews. What I can say is we took a chance with Cara and am so glad we did. Our Gia a brindle boxer at 1 1/2 yrs old was properly assessed by Cara in our first meeting. Cara explained that Gia has high nerves and is super sensitive something we never took into account. We just thought she was reactive but this explained why she would lunge and bark at everything and everyone. She also called us out and said we were letting Gia run the house and she was right. We quickly changed our ways. After a few sessions we learned how to let Gia be herself within boundaries. She helped all of us become more confident with our dog rather than being nervous at every park and walk. Her positive training skills and knowledgeable insight was just what we needed. DogBusters and Cara are excellent! i wholeheartedly recommend you work with them. We worked with Cara a few months after adopting a retriever/terrier mix about 1 year old. A sweetheart Cali already knew several commands and loved the kennel. We got with Cara to train us humans on dog behavior and how to work with Cali's leash reactivity. Cara was so patient with us and Cali. Cara helped us understand that the dog picks the collar, we went through them all and landed on the prong collar. We had 4 meetings with Cara and she'd introduced us to dog parks also. A year later, I was still having challenges with Cali and leash reactivity. She'd torn the leash from my hand several times. While no one was hurt she scared the humans and surprised the dogs. Time to call Dog Busters again! Cara recalled us. My specific ask was to be trained on the shock collar. Cara recommended the anti bark collar as it is hand free and the leash security is what I was looking for. I was concerned Cali would get hurt off leash or run away. Cara also suggested a leash which attached at my waist so my arm strength was no longer an issue. Cara gave me some training as I'd forgotten some of the details of leash walking. I was being led instead of leading. We worked with Cara two more sessions and have gained some much more control with Cali on leash. She (and I) are continuing to improve. I can not recommend Cara and Dog Busters more. We were referred to them from one of our friends who had worked with Cara and DogBusters. We are very grateful for Cara expertise and patience. We did 4 private sessions with Cara with our 7 month mini golden doodle. We used to have trouble on walks with our puppy picking up EVERYTHING and he was also very dominate in the household. Since we have completed training with Cara walks with our puppy have completely turned around and they are finally enjoyable! He doesn't pick up anything anymore and doesn't pull on his leash. I've had my barking/fear-aggressive dog for 9 years now, and I had pretty much resigned myself to a life of trying to avoid people and situations that would trigger my dog. When my life circumstances changed and I could no longer avoid folks, I decided to try and find a trainer to help me. I consulted 3 other dog trainers before choosing Cara, and I cannot say enough amazing things about her. Cara's a force of nature in the best way possible. With humans and dogs alike, Cara's very direct and confident, and yet also very easy to be around and talk to. She's never once treated me condescendingly or tried to shame me for my lack of good-dog parenting. Instead, I've only ever felt like she was trying to help me and give me hope. She really, really, really seems to understand a dog's body language, and she does a good job translating dog language to human language so that I can understand what the heck my dog is trying to communicate. She also uses her understanding of a dog's body to modify training in the blink of an eye and to adjust future sessions, and I'm just blown away by that kind of innate understanding of dogs. Having met with/researched other trainers in the area, I felt like Cara was the most willing to take on big challenges, including aggressive dogs. Her prices are reasonable and definitely in-line with the other pricing from other trainers that I saw. (That being said, she's given me the most priceless thing ever, and that's hope for a better future.) Our family of three women adopted an American Bulldog puppy at 10 weeks old. After two weeks I became critically ill suddenly and the pup took a back seat. It has taken over a year to heal and during this time Beauregard's training and socializing has been the sole responsibility of my daughter who also had to care for me.
