We had our dog groomed here today and were really impressed. Not only was the service wonderful, but her cut turned out beautifully. We're pretty particular about how she's groomed and have even been driving downtown to stay with our previous groomer because she knew exactly what we liked. She's super weird about her feet, so nails and legs are hard, several other groomers were not able to get them at all, these guys got them perfectly! She comes back smelling so good and so soft. I am over the moon!! I found this place when I was searching for a new place to get my baby groomed. Had an incident the last time he got groomed at a different place and I had been too scared to take him anywhere else worrying it'd be the same. I called earlier on in the week to try and book an appointment early on in the day- Lisa was very accommodating when it came down to figuring the right time to bring my little kitty cat in. Earlier tends to be better since it gets noisier as the day goes on and if you know cats... they like their peace and quiet. We booked for today, Friday at 8am. I walked in and was immediately greeted by Lisa! She took into mind every concern I had when it came down to grooming my little Panini and that gave me some peace of mind. My cat never lets me brush him or bathe him since he can get kind of feisty but she seemed to have no problem when it came down to it! I was honestly very surprised, she called an hour later saying he was ready to be picked up. Now my little Panini looks so handsome after his bath and cut, he's out here looking like a little lion! I took my pug mix for a haircut and they sheared her to the raw skin in her private areas. She contracted an infection and came home screaming in pain. I had to take her to ER on a Sunday and then to her vet on Monday. She's in critical condition due to infection of her vulva and extreme pain and stress. After dropping my dog off, they called and informed me that he was matted and he needed to be "cut down". I said ok and when I came to pick him up, he was totally shaved except his face and tail. To me, shaved is not cut down. In 15 years of having him groomed, I've never had to shave him down. Excellent service! We were very happy with how they treated our pet. Our dog had never been with a groomer and was very happy too.

I have a Cockapoo Hachi, 11 months old. He was overdue for a grooming appointment because we were out of town and left him with my mom. When we came back from or trip we noticed he had some Matting on the face and legs, and I called and Finally dropped Hachi here last Tuesday around 10:30 am They told me they were pretty busy but they will accept him that day. I gave the groomer my contact information which she told me to give to them in case they have any questions or to contact me when he was ready. It's the second time we've been at this place so they knew we liked long hair. The girl Noticed the matting in some areas and she said she though they will have to go shorter than before... and I said ok please do the best you can. I never received any calls with questions on grooming, I called 3 hour later and they still didn't have him ready. They said they were very busy and I understand they were, but they did not mentioned anything about the dog. I called at 2:30 pm because I had a work dinner and I needed to pick him up around 3. So they tried to hurry up and called me to say he was ready. I appreciated they called and try to be fast, but no mentions about the dog so far. When I went to pick him up, I couldn't find him and then she open the door and Hachi comes out completely different. He was shaved all over, with only his tail left fluffy. I never once asked her to shave him like this, and he clearly is not a breed that should be shaved unless there is severe matting (which he did have matting but not severe-- I still brush him at home... I am not the best at it but he is not neglected by any means). And even if he needed an extreme shave like this, I believe they should at least mentioned over the last 3 conversations we had over the phone. I agree the dog needed to have short hair and I even think that with more communication this could have been a better experience, but when I saw my dog I couldn't help but start crying. Also I noticed that under legs and internal areas the shave was so short it looked red, and he won't stop licking this areas. I don't think it's healthy for him. Anyways I hope there is a way to determine the different solutions when matting is present and talk with the client before shaving a dog like this. I also got charged 20$ more than last time. I guess full shaved is more expensive. I hope this help some people. read more

We just moved to the area and were happy to find that Pet Cuts is comfortable with grooming cats! In fact, Lisa the owner said they actually enjoy having cats in. Grooming cats is much different than grooming dogs and it's hard to find a good groomer who understands how much time and care they need, but Lisa and her team get it! My two Persian cats came home soft, smelling great, and with lots of fluff (I didn't want them shaved too much). Lisa and her groomers worked through their mats without having to shave them unless absolutely necessary, which is awesome. We will definitely be back! read more

HORRIBLE first experience! I don't typically right reviews but I felt so bad for my little fur baby... I brought my corgi in on Thursday morning for a bath. A day after i noticed his skin getting red and the day after he started scratching and biting his skin especially on his under belly near his groin and private parts. I thought it was fleas so I gave him a treatment for fleas but the condition seemed to have gotten worse! It is now Monday and he started to bite and scratch all over his body with hair loss and scabs in his skin. I think he had a very bad reaction to the products they used. Now i need to take him to the vet to get checked out. I live in a town home without a yard so he is indoors all day with the exception of walks to use the bathroom. I've never had such an experience at any of the groomers i have used. I will not be returning here. For anyone interested, make sure you ask them what products they use. I never had to ask because my dog has never reacted this badly to anything before. It seems like it's something I have to do from here on out. read more

I would have been a first time customer, now I will be going elsewhere. I called yesterday and was told to come in around 3:30 for a nail trim. I just got here to be told that since there is only one person, they can't do the nail trim. So essentially I drove to your store to be turned away. Please please communicate within your staff. This place does not want your business. Don't call to make an appointment or ask about availability because they honestly don't like new customers. I can appreciate a no-nonsense attitude and even some occasional indifference, but this place is actively trying to discourage new clients. Considering how people view their pets as family members and such, you'd think a professional dog groomer would be more receptive to inquiries, questions, etc. I use the word "professional" advisedly. If their grooming performance is anything like their customer service then you definitely do not want to bring your animal to this place. Yikes. read more

I am sure I won't get a response to my post as it seems that most of the owner responses are geared towards the 5 star reviews but I feel like I'd be doing other yelpers a disservice by not posting my experience today. Prior to today, my 14 year old Maltipoo had been here once. They did a good job. It was $75 and I felt like we found our new groomer after being out of the state for 4 years. Close to my house, slightly expensive but worth it for a nice cut in my opinion. Fast forward to today. I dropped him off at 8:30. His haircut was at 10 and I told the lady at the front (I think the owner, not sure) that I would be out for the day but would get him later that afternoon. She seemed fine with it, they have kennels all over the place where the dogs hang out before and after grooming. Well at about 12:30 I got a very short text that he was done and needed to be picked up by 2:30 at the "latest." I politely responded that I had to pick up my daughter at 2:30 so could come by 3. They don't close until 4 and had plenty of room for all 5 lbs of him, so I'm confused why it would even matter. Weird, but not a deal breaker. Well when I picked him up a little before 3 the lady who rang me up said that it would be $90 this time. I was confused, paid and then asked if the prices went up or if she could clarify what I paid last time. I thought it was $65 or $75 but could have been wrong. She confirmed it was $75. I asked her what the extra $15 was for and she said Lisa the owner cut him and said since he was a "senior dog" they had to be extra careful while grooming him. First - shouldn't they be careful regardless? I mean that's the hole right? Secondly the girl went on to say that he was difficult so that also added to the extra fee. I know he is grouchy, I definitely won't act like he isn't. In fact when I dropped him off she asked if she should brush his teeth I said no thanks, he doesn't have many and he will get mad. I also said if she had to put a muzzle on him while she does his feet that's totally fine w me because he's nippy, 1- wouldn't that have been the time for her to jump in and let me know that if he was being difficult and old they'd charge extra? 2- I nicely told the girl at the desk ringing me up that I definitely would have appreciated a call or text about that while they were grooming him to make sure I'd authorize the extra money. This was handled completely wrong in my opinion and for that reason I won't be returning. I got the impression from other reviews that they likely don't care about losing the business and probably didn't care to have me back but this really rubbed me the wrong way. Also- I'm not sure why I didn't get the old/ difficult dog charge the first round - he's been this way his entire 14 years, he's a grouchy a$$hole so I could guarantee he wasn't mellow the first time. She was able to arrange for a grooming appointment at the exact day & time that was convenient for me. They groomed my very old dog, Milton. He is blind & deaf and is a fragile little guy. I'd like to start off by saying my puppy is my world. Being a mother I take being a pet owner just a serious. Probably in fact to another level because dogs can't talk. So I am super protective like a mother bear.... I love pet cuts!!! I trust them with the love of my life, my Princess Mai Mai. She always looks and smells delicious when I pick her up. She a toy shih Tzu and can matte up on me if I don't maintain her at home. In between her monthly appointments I wash her once a week. To control the matting. I learned so much from Lisa the owner about her home care needs so that she never get to matted to the point of pain. I asked lots of questions and Lisa was so nice to explain to me the do's and don't. I am that customer that stayed the first and maybe the second time because me being the mamma bear. I couldn't drop off and leave. But after that I have 100% faith in the owner and staff. I stayed out in the lobby area and I could tell she and her staff love thier occupation. No one new I was sitting there and the attention they gave to the dogs was so wonder to hear. I felt the warm and fuzzy. Super pleased. Also the cuts Lisa does on my little girl are adorable. People constantly stop to pet her and always the same remark " her haircut is so cute" these are other dog owners. So i always tell them she goes to PET CUTS in San Marcos and ask for Lisa. I didn't mention that I'm a hairstylist of 32 years and work at 15 star property, The Fairmont grand Del Mar here in SD. So I think I can say I know how to do amazing haircuts. So I Tried doing it myself when I first got her and omg it's nothing like human heads of hair. I was embarrassed for her to be in public. Then that afternoon I saw a white suv at a stop light with a cute paw print and a number pet cuts. With mai mai sitting next to me with a horrible botched job from me. I took my dog odette here for the first time today and they BUTCHERED my poor babies nails. They did half assed work. I paid 30.90 for a bath and her nails trimmed. They chopped up her nails to 5 different sizes, her ears are still dirty, her tear stains are still in her face. And the nails they splintered and cracked they didn't even have the decency to grind them down. My dog got into the car TRAUMATIZED. I called them to complain.
