Been coming here for many many years and it has had everything we've needed for any fur baby that we've had. Even down to simple pet exams by VetCo prior to vaccine care by them. I always need to remember to log into my application, to load my rewards to my account and have the coupons available from my email! Basically I just need to be prepared for my trip here! Today I used my 20 off 75. So my 100 worth of products came to a $80 purchase. My fur babes are so happy with their new items & treats! The young staffers were very nice. I like the new category lanes and layouts. it's kept organized thus making it easier to find the specific items that you are looking for. Years ago we've utilized the pet training from puppy play to canine good citizen. Even adopted when sunrise rescue was featured here. Pretty convenient store and has most of all the basics. I haven't used the grooming services so I can't speak on that aspect but it's something that's offered here too. read more

Shame on you Petco! You are selling the invasive Chinese mantis's oothecas (egg sac). This is a non-local species that not only kills all of our local mantids but also hummingbirds. You should throw those egg sacks away and learn and do better! I do want to note that the staff member who I spoke to on the phone today was very respectful and kind. That's the only good thing I can say about this place. I hope the leadership reads this and no longer sells these. read more

I was in here on Saturday, it was very crowded. It took a while for me to have my turn at the register. I had a bunch of stuff for my dog and AJ checked me out. I was using the app and I knew I had a five dollar reward. I showed it to him. He inputted it into the register And then he said that I had a free bag of dog food. I was surprised I didn't know about that feature on the app, even though it was busy he showed me on my phone how to access the dog food rewards. He was very patient and kind he didn't make me feel stupid And he saved me a ton of money. I was so pleased with my service I had to review him. I think Petco did well when they hired him. He is a wonderful asset to that location. We will be back soon, my dog eats a lot! read more

My husband and I come here every now and then if we need to get our furbaby Just Food For Dogs. It's the food brand we give her for her routine meals and we appreciate that we can get from Petco. It's not the biggest store, but it offers what we need. I also like how its parking lot is hardly ever busy. read more

Since the remodel, the store is nice, but the prices have increased significantly, and I no longer feel like I'm getting good value. The cashiering experience has also declined. Today, Daniel was very short with me when I asked how much the total was, even though it wasn't on the screen since I paid cash. He said, "I already told you!" with a very unwelcoming attitude. He also gave me the wrong change. It was just a bad experience overall. I also couldn't find any associates to help me locate a specific product. I'm done with Petco for now. read more

I came by with my dog for some dog food and treats. Staff were really friendly and welcoming. I didn't need any help but the woman in front of me had a question and the staff were able to locate a product for her. I made my purchases and when I got home and put things away. Later when I was throwing the reciept away, I noticed an item on the receipt I did not recognize. I went back to the store a few days later to explain I did not purchase something and the manager(?) was very friendly and was helping me fix the problem, first by looking up in the system what the item was. Turns out that I am an idiot and I had indeed bought the mysterious item. The manager(?) was so nice about it. Stellar customer service! read more

This is the second visit in the past few months in which the cashier named Sydney has gone above and beyond to help me. Sydney cares about the customer and their situation and has gained knowledge and confidence since she's been at Petco on Hacienda. Gosh I hope she never leaves. I'd follow her to another nearby Petco though for sure. I was pretty stressed out during my last visit because of a Pet health situation I was going through, and her kindness and helpfulness lightened up the whole situation. Sydney is also very good at up selling because she knew exactly where two much needed items were located in the store that I wasn't able to find on my own. And they were pricey! read more

The vaccine barcode on vaccinated puppies serves as proof of vaccination; it does not indicate who provided the vaccine. We had our dog Lily groomed by Myla. It was our first time using Petco grooming services. Myla did an outstanding job. Lily was to be there by 9:00 a.m. and I received a call at 11:00 a m that she was ready. I was very pleased as I hate for her to be in a kennel for too long. Everyone I dealt with in the grooming dept. was friendly and helpful. Myla was especially friendly and cheerful and seemed confident in her work . Great job, thank you! read more

Went to purchase fish for a new aquarium. Mckenna in the aquarium department was super helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. She explained which fish would do best in a 10 gallon tank, and even helped us pick out a live plant to put in the tank with the fish. Thank you!! read more

I am very VERY upset with how the grooming service went for my dog. I dropped my dog of at 10:00 am for his grooming appointment and the lady that checked us in was feeling my dogs coat and checking for matting but said there was none. I made sure she was aware that my dog is anxious as I have stated on the online initial check in. She told me that the grooming would take anywhere between 3-4 hours and they will update me if I would need to go pick my dog up. 3 1/2 hours passed and they called me to notify they will need to cut my dogs hair shorter due to some knots that they found. I said that it was okay and for them to do what was needed to complete the grooming service. The lady I spoke to on the phone said that it would only take about an hour or so to finish up. The time was now 3:30pm (now 5 and a half hours) and they called to inform that they would not be able to continue the service and that he needed to be seen by the vet for "matting". Mind you, this was said to me 5 hour into the grooming service!!! I asked what services were complete in the span of 6 hours and they said they DID NOT bathe, brush teeth, cut nails or do a full hair cut. They left my dog with a total hack job. It seems like they just had my dog in a cage for the full 6 hours which is ridiculous. The lady I spoke to on the phone sounded so rude and condescending when I was asking about my own dog and if he was okay. I would have much rather the groomers call me to pick up my dog than leaving him worse. Poor customer service skills. Will never bring my dog back here again. read more

At 2:30 pm just picked up my dog Max a poodle that gets groomed every 6-10 weeks. I had an 8:30 appt with a novice groomer Chloe. The haircut did not result in the consultation we had. Chloe will be an amazing groomer with experience. I was not aware of 2 things there is deluxe service appointment and it will get you in and out with no interruptions with the standard appointment your doggy will be worked into their schedule. Also, the new groomers do not have a mentor that may guide or check their work. I had (former groomer) Stephanie for over 12 years and she spoiled me. I would bring Max in and I would just say do it. Chloe I apologize, I am sorry for my outburst. Dave (mgr) thank you for dropping your ego and putting customer service 1st. I am a difficult consumer and I have certain expectations when I'm paying $110.00/tip so my dog can look outstanding. Lastly, I am already flagged in the Petco system as difficult. Selected a cat toy and went to checkout. First, they wanted my telephone number, then the screen on the card reader displayed a donate screen which I was instructed to push yes or decline. I said I didn't want to participate and could I just pay for the product and go. I was told the transaction couldn't be completed until I interacted with the display screen. I promptly took my money from the cashier's hand and left without purchasing anything. If I have to jump through hoops for the privilege of buying something, then they can keep their crap and I'll never shop there again. read more

Came in for some crickets. The ones prebagged on the shelf were dead. Got some from the cashiers, the gentleman used his mouth to blow air into the bag. Mouth to bag, so no actual oxygen went into the bag. You could see his breath collect in the bag. After I purchased them, I had to redo that. Not only was it gross, but not good for the bugs I also didn't care for the lady who checked me out being overly persistent that I make/use an account with them. While my experience with the store "manager" Dave was absolutely terrible. I will say my experience with the district manager has been much better. Not all employees can be great. But I hope they seriously look at him as an employee and realize the liability he is to a company. I appreciate Amy and the thoughtful follow up. I am giving a 5 star review for the customer service I receive from employees at Petco specifically Margo. Every time I visit I am greeted warmly as are my dogs. She assists me with choosing the best items for them. Clearly she has mastered the art of genuine old fashioned customer service. She's the reason I continue to shop at Petco. Being a mom to 4 dogs one cat and 4 birds this means something of value to Petco. This is how important customer service is and that people like Margo keep valuable business for the company. read more

This Petco has good customer service and has essential pet supplies stocked. You can check their stock online, and it's been pretty accurate. Sometimes prices online are cheaper than in store, but at the register the cashier will do a price adjustment if you ask for it and show them the online price on your phone. Staff here try to be pretty helpful, but they often don't know where things are located. Lady in the fishkeeping section knew nothing about fish and seemed to be cognitively challenged. Hope she's not the one caring for the fish. Cashier is friendly and they greet you. The only negatives are that things could be organized better in the fish keeping section, and everything has a thick layer of dust all over it. The animals that live there must be living in that dust too. Also the parking lot has garbage all over and it seems to be a hang out spot for down and out drug addicts. read more

The service in the fish department is deplorable. Today 9/30 @ about 415pm my wife went in to get a pleco-sucker and the help she received was ridiculous. She first got the attention of an employee outside of the fish department for help and in place of calling someone to the fish area he attempted to send her to the front to go ask for help. In short he ended up finding someone... my issue is not with him aka lazy. Enter the "pro fish girl". Dumb as a box of rocks and will cost this Petco all of my family's future business dogs and fish. (Unless they make an effort to correct this issue) My wife asked for the fish I was looking for using the "sucker-fish" term because I'm most cases I've experienced they have no clue when you actually use the correct name. Additionally, I asked her to get a small one. (big ones cost more and I get them from a specialty store) The "pro-fish girl" assumed that the tank was small and advised us to get a snail. My wife asked again to get the fish and employee sad "tell your husband it's going to die" in front on my 3 year old daughter. She had an attitude the entire time and sarcastically said to my wife after that gunna die comment "have a nice day". The tank it's going into is 55 gal because I need to move my big guy into the large tank. The little guys is his replacement in the tank. Speaking of replacement.... she needs to be replaced. Look at the video figure out who she was and fire her for acting like a jackass. Maybe she was having a bad day, maybe she didn't like my Hispanic wife, who knows who cares. I always get my dogs items at this location, but I might have to start going elsewhere because the Staff is extremely rude now. The last few times I've been to this location I always hear them making rude comments on customers after they leave. Also, I don't appreciate the attitude of this lady (which I didn't get the name of) and Cynthia.... My son was looking at the fish while I was grabbing what I needed and the lady tells me with an attitude "you need to keep your son next to you" ... excuse me? I wouldn't mind if she would have asked me nicely, but what's with the attitude? Manager needs to check their customer service. read more

When we got home, she was still soaking wet with her Deshedding shampoo. and when we got there, she was in the cage, half dry with that shampoo on her. and now she had an allergic reaction even though we washed her has bumps all over her. Meh. Depends on what you need, who's working & if they are out on the floor or somewhere unknown. Parking lot is crazy during mid day I've seen people hit others cars and it's not really the safest parking lot (I lived and shop here for 7+ years). I try to like this store because the few nice people that do work there - The manager Dennis I think is his name (I am horrible with names), the asst manager tall male with glasses, the older blonde cashier with a accent that loves my dog as well as everyone else usually. These people that work here actually try to do their job best they can with such a small store that is older. I have gone to the further Petco for stuff sometimes just because they staff can be meek at the vista store. They almost seem scared. Again not the few I mentioned but others I randomly see. If staff isn't confident then why would customers be confident in this store? read more

A small Petco tucked away in a shopping center near the freeway, I was glad that I spotted it as my little Sophia was in need of some *ahem* litter and only Blue Buffalo walnut would do. i never can find it at Target so it was nice to be able to just run in and run out. What's not to love about a pet store that lets you bring your pets? And the cashiers give out treats to your pets. Win-win! It's not the largest Petco but it has a decent selection of things. We've had good experience with the groomers. Our dog is a little unique to put it nicely. He's a three legged golden retriever with abandonment issues who we rescued from the Humane Society and had to teach how to be a dog. So he gets a little freaked when he goes places and doesn't know how to act around other dogs. It's always an adventure to say the least. But the groomers are amazing, gentle, and extremely patient with him. read more

This Petco is close and convenient If you live in Vista. Slightly smaller than most Petco stores but still has all your pet needs. Best part of the store though has to be Winter. She was very helpful finding everything I needed for my new puppy. Her customer service was excellent which can be hard to find now.
