We absolutely love Pets Plus! They have everything you need from food, toys, accessories and more. But to boot they have the most phenomenal customer service across the board. Every time we walk by we stop in to say hello and grab a duck heart for our golden retriever. The staff always remember Taters name and go out of their way to say hello. This is a nice pet supply store. Everything is very clean and organized. It has a plethora of healthier animal food options. The staffers here have always been so nice and helpful. I got my dog a woodsy gnome toy and he absolutely loves it! Upon checkout they gave him some samples of Boss freeze dried raw food. I ended up going back and bought a full sized bag for my Pooch. The only downfall is the price tag attached to some of these treasures. My dog gobbles his kibble so much better when he has this as a topper and it has a probiotic so it's been great for his sensitive tummy. read more

What a great store for pets! Pets Plus has aisles upon aisles of supplies for dogs, cats, guinea pigs, reptiles, and more. I visited specifically to find a new kitty litter that is absorbent, odor-blocking, and doesn't produce dust which is bad for your cat's health. The workers recommended Fresh Worx so I'm letting my cat try it. Pets Plus also has so many cute toys! I couldn't leave without getting one for my cat and I think he likes it! Shout out to the women working today. I didn't get the name of the nice woman who recommended the cat litter. The woman behind the register, Catherine, was so sweet. This is a nice local pet store, but is a chain. Set in the vista village. It has a good selection of pet food and things. It does not have any animals here, including fish. It does host some adoption events from time to time tho. It also will host a mobile dental clinic and shot clinic from time to time as well read more

On the plus side (see what I did there) the store is clean and bright and the employees are friendly. But they mismanage their raw pet food. I've bought raw cat food three times, two different brands, and it's all been badly freezer burned, the bags full of ice. To the point that my greedy cats wouldn't even eat it. I spoke to a manager the first time and got such a blank look that I said never mind and left. Not sure she knew what freezer burned even meant. But it seems the employees let the food sit out and thaw after a delivery, then it's refrozen. I'll never purchase from them again. read more

I have been a long time customer at Pets Plus in Vista but the last two occasions the teller didn't have enough change to complete the transaction. I was purchasing $32.00 of cat food with a $100.00 bill, and they had no solution. Petco, just a block and a half away, must trust their employees more with the register... Because there was no question with returning me my change! While at Petco I noticed they now carry Acana dog food... Nutri Source is hard to find and they have every flavor (that i could tell) in stock. They literally have EVERYTHING you would need for your pets. I live within walking distance so this place is my goto. They have a very large selection of products, particularly for cats in my case. Lots of different foods, litters, products. I can't speak for dog/rabbit or fish owners though. As for prices, I think there is a fair spectrum, from a level I would call a fair price for the quality all the way to more exotic food offerings. My cat has been eating better than he ever has in life, even with 'entry-line' foods, but that is the state of pet foods these days, the base quality is much higher. She knows the store's merchandise and promotes the products very well. Ruby always explains the benefits of a product (example-Boredom Buster Indulge Licking Mat-promotes slow eating, mental stimulation, helps to calm, soothe, explained the importance of licking for a cat) so we can make a well informed decision. She's a wealth of knowledge but is never pushy or bothersome. When I see Ruby, I always leave the store feeling like I learned something new and that we're doing the best for our newly adopted cat. Worst return policy bought some items cat liked some cared less for the others one item didn't have packaging didn't have it when I purchased it. The lady who rang me up stated I would of wrote a note on the receipt if it had packaging you could see it was never used. I don't remember it having tags it was a 12.00 toy my cat won't use. This is why mom and pop shops will never survive and why easier to get at Amazon or chewy because they understand cats are finicky and may not like everything you buy them. Like I said my cat liked all but 2 items one I was able to return the other they wouldn't take back. When I worked in retail we would get credit back from the wholesale company and this is why I won't return good luck surviving. read more

I knew this shop had it because I've purchased one before and gifted it to my mom and their dog. They sold out of this item when I came in last Saturday. They were able to special ordered it from one of their other locations in Escondido and bring it back to Vista to pick up. I was helped by almost everyone on staff that day. This is a new pet supply store next to Frazier Farms. I found it strange that no one was at the register when I walked in. The store itself is very nice and easy to navigate. Everything was in it's place. Prices seem to be the same as it's competitors. The people I came across were pleasant and asked if I needed assistance. Seems Pets Plus is enjoying a lot of panic business due to COVID-19. I'm sure the owners are enjoying the extra profit. However, their employees look stressed out, and complain the owners are not providing the necessary supplies to keep them safe from the virus. Many stores are reporting that the employees have no adequate soap, hand sanitizer, paper towels, cleaners. Additionally, chances of infection are high with the use of a CC machine that most customers don't want to touch to complete their sale. One could anticipate multiple employees getting infected with the virus due to the lack of precautions, forcing a store shutdown and massive disinfectant procedure to clean the store. I LOVE THIS PLACE, the only reason I'm giving 4 stars is because it is hard to find someone to help you or have someone even offer. I assume because the store is pretty big and there's usually only 2-3 people working that I've seen at least. Other than that, the prices are great. When I have received help they were super nice and gave me a rundown of a few dog brand foods. I actually discovered the brand my dog has now from coming here. I used to go to pet coach because I lived in San Marcos. I love Pets Plus much more. It's smaller so it has a great vibe to it. They have a huge inventory , from chew toys , food brands, clothing and leashing , honestly anything your pet may need they have. The hours are a little crummy I wish they were open just one hour later BUT at the same time it isn't like a chain store so I understand that. Went to Pet's Plus to see if they had my dog's food "Honest Kitchen ." Whoopee" they did... so now I don't have to drive to Carlsbad.Ended up with another brand by Aunt Lucy. Sad to say my dog would not eat it ,no matter what I added to it. So after 4 days I returned my opened bag. The salesman was very helpful and knowledgeable and we decided to go back to our old brand. There was no problem returning the other food. Will be coming back here since it is so close to where I live and they carry as much as the larger box stores.
