I have been going to this LFS since they opened! The owners are beyond knowledgeable about aquascaping, reef tanks, and tank maintenance! They are honest and laid back! The store is easily navigable and their tanks are very clean. Want anything specific? Just ask the owners and they will provide! They even offer at home service for a reasonable price if you go out of town or get too busy with your life to maintain your own tank! read more

I spent $600 on two frags. When they arrived. One was badly bleached and the other was missing color. I should have called right away but I thought maybe the corals would color up once I put them in my tank. I messaged Stuart and he questioned my tanks parameters . They have always been spot on as I have apex system. Since one coral might survive I asked to trade one for some other corals and I haven't heard back. First off Would like to give a shout out to Derek for all his patience with us especially with My Son. This place has a huge selection from corals, fishes anemones and even Peacock mantis shrimp. Healthy and colorful fish they know what they're talking about. They seem extremely professional great customer service 100% nice and good with my kid. They have us some free duckweed I was paying attention to all their aquariums because I was looking for Plecos there were no animals dead. Their betas were swimming happily in a tankp or they can swim the guy was very helpful because my daughter really wanted a blue eyed pleco that was albino and they actually had one amazing prices if you want long, living healthy, pretty non-sick amazing prices and knowing more about the fish, you should go here I used to go to Petco, but then realized it's not OK to get your fish from Petco instead of going there go here! read more

Shop owner seems nice enough (comparable to other shop owners in North County). Problem was I bought 3 rumy nose tetras and a ground feeder from him. 2 days later one of the Rumy's died. No problem things happen. I called 5 different times over 2 days to ask about a refund/exchange and no one picked up at his shop. I ended up letting it go. But then a few days later the remaining 2 rumys developed ick. I had not purchased any other plants or fish so I can only assume it came from one of the tanks at this shop. I started medicating immediately but one died a few days later. Luckily the last survived. I realize things can happen that are out of the owners control, but if you're running a business it shouldn't be that difficult to get ahold of someone. For that reason I'd probably stick with a different shop in the future read more

This store was a hard pass on fresh water fish. I only have fresh water tanks. So it didn't work for me. Give it a one star. I will say he had spectacular salt water coral, Sea anemones, and a few salt water fish. Not a lot of variety for salt fish. In this area he would get 5 stars. Nicest, most interesting, and beautiful looking aquariums I've ever laid my eyes on. The staff was so accommodating and patient with all of my questions. I was in a tough spot because I had identified one of my community members was being overly aggressive, and I needed to find him a new home. I called around to many shops, and this was the first to say, "we can take em." I was so grateful to find this shop. Searched for a fish store since getting a new tank. My old store that I used to go to changed ownership and wasn't very comfortable with the new owners. Found this place on Yelp. There was a very nice young couple I met that owned the store. They were very helpful giving me information and helping me with all the stuff I needed. Sold me an angel fish with velvet. When I took it home and got it into my tank with decent lighting I called them directly, with no answer. Called them several days in a row and left messages. When I finally got a hold of someone she knew nothing about fish, blamed it on my water quality, and offered no recourse or guarantee. Too late anyway, kills 99% of my fish. As Ryan from BRS says timer if someone is willing to sell you an infected fish and blame it on you with no guarantee or recourse, do not walk but run from that fish store and never look back. read more

Great selection of corals and saltwater fish. I like that they keep bettas in tanks instead of those sad little cups. I noticed a lot of people come here to get saltwater. However, I did not experience the good customer service that others got. Also concerning was I saw dead decaying fish in a couple of the tanks. read more

An amazing selection of corals, after we moved up from the downtown area I thought I might have to drive back down to Kearney Mesa until I found this gem. The location might look tricky, but it is just a business in what are basically like storage garages. You can grab your RODI water from here too. This is the only place I will go to in North County! Amazing selection of corals and saltwater fish at reasonable prices. Employees/owners are very attentive, knowledgeable, and helpful. At first it seems strange driving into an older industrial park with roll-up doors to find them, but once you see their colorful banner and walk inside you're guaranteed to be impressed. Much different than many of the "commercialized" aquatics stores in central San Diego, who profit just as much (if not more) from selling equipment and supplies. Reefers Garage is about selling corals and fish, and you can tell they are passionate about their inventory/business. An added nice touch was being able to receive an email copy of my receipt. I'll definitely be a repeat customer, even if it means driving from Santee to Vista! read more

A tucked away shop around Oceanside. Huge selection!! Off the chart rose bubble tip with bright orange tips! More rhicordia than you can imagine just growing all over the tanks. A lot of flower anemone babies half covered in gravel. So many heads of LPS & frags of SPS!! Now for the bad. Not a great selection of fish. Most the pricing is 40$ more than everywhere else. Frogspawn head 140?! bubble tip 180? I can get it cheaper at other places shipping included. But the few things they have the price right, are good to go. Would of been nice to see ALL of the over grown stuff on frag plugs instead of attached to the racks. Please save the flower anemones from the gravel! It would be nice for prices to be on the glass. I stopped by Reefers Garage today while doing some research before I get back into the hobby after a 10 year hiatus. The owner Louis was very helpful with the numerous questions I asked. Things have change in the ten year absence with reef tanks. Louis knew I was just gathering information and gladly took the time and patience to help me out. I'm sure some of my question made me sound like a complete newbie in this hobby. Anyone who takes the time to talk to someone and at the same time makes me feel comfortable will definitely get my business. This place actually look like a garage but do not let that detour you. A few fellow reefers highly recommended this shop. Since I was spending a weekend out in SD, it made sense to drop by. I came in with such high expectations. A younger female was helping me out and gave me prices on some corals. There was another gentleman at the shop (I assume he's the other owner). As soon as he found out the prices the girl had given me, he doubled the prices on me. I understand the prices being off by a few bucks but not by 50%! Friendly advise, sections with visible prices would be nice. I'm sure the same coral could get several different prices depending on who the customer is. This was my 1st visit and most definitely my last. read more

This is, by far, the best fish store in North County. Louis, the owner, is incredibly knowledgeable about the saltwater hobby. We had started our tank downtown and relocated to Vista in 2015. Shortly after finding Reefers Garage and taking some direction from Louis, our tank sprang to life! This is the perfect example of a place that is devoted to the hobby. They are down to earth and very helpful we drove down to check out their store and to purchase LRS frenzy witch only 3 places in California have this food. They were out but they were willing to ship it to us at no cost. Then they went a step further they needed to come my way for something and they were willing to meet me!! Updating my old review. Spoke with the owner. Louis, for quite a while while I was last there. This is the kind of business I like to spend my money at. The workers are so down to earth and helpful that, even if their prices are higher (they aren't, their prices are fantastic on their stock) I would pay that price, for the service. Reefer's Garage is a fantastic reefing spot, their stock is always healthy, and it's small enough to be a reasonably personal experience. I purchased a fantastic Rainbow BTA and will be doing business with them in the future. read more

Hands down this is my favorite store. and its also my favorite place to get fish and corals ;) been shopping here regularly for nearly 8 months, and im always here at LEAST once a week! They get new livestock in every week, have UNBEATABLE prices, and take really good care of their stock. This place had decent reviews so stopped to check it out. Honestly should have went with my gut and not went in. Definitely not well kept and coral are lackluster. The prices are why people come back I believe. So since I was there I purchased 2 acros. Took them home and dipped them. They were riddled with Acropora eating flatworms..... Biggest waste of money.... Would not recommend. Sorry reefers garage this is an honest review. Keep your frags clean.. I guess that's why they are so cheap in price. read more
