I called to schedule an appointment and they were able to get me in within a couple of weeks. Upon arrival I was greeted by Menor and promptly taken back for my appointment with Dr. Gomes. He provided a thorough examination, answered all of my questions, and clearly explained what he was doing each step of the way. While it's a smaller operation than the eye chain, I previously went to, I immediately felt the increase in quality. My favorite part of an eye appointment is choosing new frames. Most of the frames in store are in neutral colors, but Menor was able to look up other colors that are available for order. It was a very positive experience and I look forward to next year's visit.

Walked in and was greeted by Uri. I think he is the owner of this place. It is a family owned business since 1994. They also fill in prescriptions. The reason for me being there was that I accidentally dropped my glasses and one of the lens came out, and one side of the frame broke. Uri, took a good look at it and said no worries, I will fix this right away and within like less than 15 minutes my lens were popped back in and the side of the frame that was broken was fixed. Even straighten my nose pads and cleaned both lenses. When I was there, there were only 3 other people looking at glasses. It's a standard size shop that sells various glasses by labels, designers, and generic type. They don't do no exams at this place, but do accept most vision insurances. Also, cash and credit cards are accepted. Uri, only charged me $20 dollars for both fixings including the nose pads. I took a good look at the store, and they had vast variety of glasses. Store was clean, with few parking spaces in the back, but I parked on the street. Thank you Uri, and Eyelab. Hopefully I will not drop my glasses any more. Accidents DO happen...

Arrived today (35 minute drive), found parking on a side street in a not great neighborhood and went in. Person neglected to greet another customer and me when we walked in while she was finishing up with her Customer. Asked me to resend the prescription because she could not find it from yesterday. Showed me two crummy frames and said they don't have a large selection in that size "at this time." Why didn't they tell me that yesterday? Why didn't she offered to let me see a slightly different size? Meanwhile, probably the optometrist, possibly the owner, didn't bother to come out and see what the problem was at all. I left, intending to buy frames elsewhere and have them fill the prescription. Warby Parker was actually less expensive with excellent customer service so I do not need to return to this shop. Small businesses are hurting and should be able to compete with Customer Service. This one certainly does not.

The glasses were my grandmothers so, they are of great sentimental value to me. Slava was great! He introduced himself and was friendly and professional. He explained the risks of trying to repair them and was careful with them. He successfully bent them back in place in under 5 minutes. They fit perfectly again! Because it was such a quick job, he didn't charge me. Optical Universe certainly has my business now. I'll definitely be back!

Dr. Dodge himself is an excellent care provider and makes the exam process a breeze. However the…read morestaff that handles glasses and contacts unfortunately take away from the entire experience. First example, they were unable to acquire a certain brand of contacts however I was charged for them and it took me months of calling to get my refund. Each time I called they said "it's coming" and the last call I guess someone who knows how to process refunds did it right then and there. This took maybe 2.5 months. Second example, I had to keep going back to get my glasses fixed since I literally can't see out of them. They would either send it back to the technicians or try to fix them in the office and basically just said "keep wearing them". The back and forth, shipping of the glasses, the delay in the glasses arriving themselves took over a year. So I finally told them these aren't working out a year had passed and I was SOL. Dr. dodge even mentioned to them to let me have a new pair but I was denied. I asked to speak to the office manager and told her that Dr Dodge was okay with it and she never called me back. I've been seeing Dr. Dodge for 15 years and only since they moved to the new office it's been painful dealing with the office staff. I would highly recommend him for care however if you can get your glasses or contacts online just go that route.

When it came time for my glasses fitting Artie (or Arty, sorry if I'm getting the spelling wrong!) was so nice and patient! He cleaned my old glasses and changed the worn out nose bridge pads (I can't believe I didn't have this change sooner!). I must have stayed about an hour since I could not make up my mind. Artie gave me several more options from the brands I narrowed down. Honestly he made glasses shopping worthwhile since I didn't feel rushed. He even told me that I can donate my old glasses to charity. I had no idea! I ended up getting a brown Prada glasses. I highly recommend coming here. The staff are amazing!
