I went to this place last year for a routine eye exam. That part was fine but, I needed contact lenses. The staff was unprofessional and rude. The female optometrist was the worst EVER! She refused to give me a different prescription for contacts and based the prescription on 1 brand assuming I didn't want to explore other brands of contacts. She told me she didn't have time because she had other people to see. There was nothing nice about her behavior or delivery. I would NEVER recommend this place! No apologies from her or the staff! Do not go here! Also, they have a limited more expensive selection of glasses. I went to Lense Crafters instead. This place doesn't deserve my money! read more

This company is gouging its customers. Even with gas prices as high as they are in 2022, it would be cheaper to go to the San Joaquin Valley to get your eyes checked. They charge for an eye exam and for a contact eye exam. IN ANY OTHER PLACE IT IS THE SAME EXAM. I'm not going to lie. I was super irritated from having to wait in the lobby for 30 minutes after my appointment time to see the optometrist. I even showed up 10 minutes early to fill out the paperwork since I am a new patient. The idea of writing a really bad review went through my head as I watched the clock ticked by. All this changed when I saw the optometrist, Julie Kim. She was very friendly and personable. There were other patients waiting in the lobby but I didn't feel rushed at all. She took the time to get my history and asked what I was comfortable with. She was very thorough with her exam and was communicative of what she was doing. I left very happy with my exam. The staff did apologize for the wait. They said they had a patient who ran very late and caused my appointment to get pushed back. I am always in a rush and I had to go on a work day so I needed to leave. Hopefully next time won't be this bad. The cost of the contact lenses fitting is very reasonable. I only paid $51 in addition to what my insurance, VSP, covers and there was no co-pay for the exam itself. In the past, other optometrists always insist I come back for a follow up exam to see how the contact lenses fit even when it's the same prescription as before and charge me again for the visit. I am not required to do that here, which is awesome. If I'm still in the area, I will be back next year to see her again. read more

Very friendly staff and clean inside! My boyfriend got his exam done here and said the woman who gave the exam was very thorough. We browsed their selection but my boyfriend didn't find anything to his liking, so we were referred to the Montrose location. The Montrose location has more stylish options. A good thing is that they will be remodeling & renovating the Van Nuys office. In addition they will be adding more variety in glasses, so that will bring more options for customers. read more

I love Valley Optometric Associates! I have been a loyal customer for 10 years, even after moving all over from the valley to West Hollywood. I won't go anywhere else! (My boyfriend always asks me why I won't find an optometrist that's closer. Ha!) They've had the same friendly, professional, attentive, patient staff throughout the years. Dr. Julie Kang Kim, Ingrid and the rest of the staff here are outstanding. My wife has been a patient here for almost 20 years and I have been going here since I first met my wife, over 11 years ago. Yes, she referred me! Recently my family changed insurance plans to a Kaiser plan. No more VSP. My wife has used contact lenses forever and I have too many eye issues to list on this review. Needless to say, it was hard when we thought we would have to say good-bye to Dr. Kang Kim and Ingrid. Kaiser is great but neither my wife nor I could imagine trusting our eyes to anyone else. So.... We signed up for VSP out of pocket so we could keep going to Valley Optometrist. So worth it. We wouldn't trade this place. I'm pretty high maintenance and a hard-sell on just about anything I spend my money on; especially when it comes to my eyes. I never, ever feel rushed here. Dr. Kang Kim takes her time during the visit and explains everything in a way you can understand and she won't stop until your needs are met. Ingrid takes her time answering my endless questions when it comes to cost and insurance coverage. The office has great hours for those that work and anytime I've ever needed my glasses fitted/adjusted, I've walked right in and I'm taken care of. Showed up for an appointment at 11:30AM, there were 4 people ahead of me. I looked at the sign in sheet and they double book appointment times so there was another patient that was there for 11:30AM also. I waited until 12:20PM and asked how much longer it would be and the receptionist said another 15 minutes so I left. They call you the night before to make sure you are going to show up on time for your appointment but don't care about wasting your time when you show up on time. The eye exam price is $89 and they try to upsell you an optomap scan for $20 versus a traditional dilatation when you are signing in. read more

Its hard to find a place like this now a days. they are honest ,great customer service , i have bought contacts and eyeglasses from them at very fair and affordable price i bent my eyeglasses really bad and one of the lenses popped out ,and i thought i was going to hear that i would have to replace them but i went to them, If it were any other place they would have said that i needed to replace the frame (which ray ban frames are not so cheap) but they guy who helped me fixed them right up like new if not better . and the best part of all he didnt charge me for fixing them he took his time i forget his name he is a tall guy .. i highly recommend them for you read more

They both made an impact in my life simply by the experiences I had since I was a little girl visiting the office (I started wearing glasses in the third grade and I am now a college graduate and they played a big part in my life through those doctor visits). So much so that I wanted to become an eye doctor at one point in my life and Dr Julie Kim even offered to hire me so that I can get some experience. I can't say enough about her angelic qualities. I called to ask if they accepted my insurance and they said no but we have a $95 special of frame and lense so I asked if they carry Persol and she said yes and I also asked twice to make sure if the $95 special included Persol I like and she said yes so I drove all the way to their office not only to find out that they don't have any Persol and the doctor had conveniently stepped out.
