Had an appointment, arrived early to fill out the paperwork and they denied to see me because I answered yes to the question that asks if I have tested positive or have been around someone with COVID-19. I responded yes and explained it was two months ago. Even though my temperature read 97 and I have no symptoms, They said that I need to provide them with a secondary recent negative test result from 1 week or less before my appointment to be able to be seen by them for their safety. I work in the medical field and I am OFTEN around patients taking care of them. Per CDC Rule If there are no symptoms they are not testing you and it requires 10 days of quarantine if you have tested positive for COVID-19. ON TOP OF THE REFUSAL TO SEE ME, they closed the window on me and I asked what is the doctors name that is there who refused to see me and the doctor or staff threw the card at me through a slit from the wooden window. MOORE WAS NOT IN THE OFFICE WORKING TODAY. They refused to provide me with the doctors name who was currently working in the office as a practitioner covering for MOORE. Eventually I said if they don't give me her name and license number I will call the police. I started dialing the police then right away they threw a card at me. The card only says HUANG. I am under the impression HUANG does not have proper licensing to work there or some kind of scam with insurances is going on within their office because they were refusing to give me HUANGS name. THERE IS NO REASON TO HIDE HER IDENTITY IF THERE IS NO FRAUD GOING ON. They did not even have the courtesy to open the window after I knocked claiming I banged (which is not true) I knocked louder the third time because no one was responding. Ignorance when it comes to COVID-19 from front line care workers is extremely disappointing. Anyone could walk in positive and asymptomatic without them knowing and they will be seen by doctors. TO MOORE AND STAFF - YOU HAVE YOUR PPE'S FOR THE PROTECTION OF ANY VIRUS AND DISEASE. IF YOU FEEL UNSAFE TO WORK AROUND PEOPLE DO NOT WORK IN THE MEDICAL FIELD. IF YOU FEEL LIKE YOU NEED TO SEND SOMEONE WHO HAS BEEN AROUND COVID-19 TWO MONTHS AGO TO GET RETESTED THEN YOU NEED TO SEND EVERYBODY TO GO GET TESTED BEFORE THEY SCHEDULE APPOINTMENT AND COME TO YOUR OFFICE!!! YOU RETURN PATIENTS HOME ONLY IF THEY HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT/TRAVEL UNDER 10 DAYS, HAVE SYMPTOMS, OR READ A TEMPERATURE ABOVE 100.4! AND EVEN THEN PATIENTS DON'T NEED TO GO TEST, THEY MUST QUARANTINE!! Dr. Moore is truly a gifted Ophthalmologist. The two prescription glasses he designed allows me a clear vision for the first time in many months (years). For years we felt Kaiser took such good care of my family. They also provided the benefit of eye examinations, and we took advantage of this for years. Then came corona and our lives changed. Since my children have married and moved away, we cut Kaiser as our family insurance. Everything I was looking for.... I didn't find them on Yelp, luckily I found them through my VSP (vision service plan) and they were the first ones that I could get an appointment with today. It was 12:30 and I decided I had put off going to the eye Dr. long enough. I called around and everyone was booked up. But when I called Dr. Moore's office, they said "can you come in at 1:30?" So I quickly got ready and left. I was glad to find somewhere within a bike ride of my apartment. I noticed a parking lot in back, although I didn't need to use it. Everyone was friendly and knew their stuff. After filling out paperwork I didn't have to wait long at all. Everything went quickly and smoothly. Dr. John I. Ryu, O.D. helped me today. He was very friendly and helpful. They had a nice selection of regular and stylish glasses, including some for certain sports, and some for children. I usually come here for my contact lens. I called yesterday and I got an appointment today. Doctor Moore is super friendly and social. He makes my visits fun. If you do not have insurance they have reasonable prices so do not be afraid to call and ask! You have an option of paying half now and when you pick up your lens you pay the rest. In the heart of Van Nuys on a quaint street you will find Moore Optometry. Dr Moore has been in practice over 30 years, but each individual that walks in Is treated as if they were his first patient. Lots of times Dr Moore will tell the patient a joke, to get them to relax, as he does a complete eye exam and glaucoma testing. It's not like one of the chains, where your exam is completed in ten minutes or less. Dr Moore allows each patient thirty minutes or more if needed. He does a complete eye exam and checks the health of your eyes as well. Retinal photos allow for a closer look into the eye. Even if you don't need glasses it's still important to check the health of your eyes for cataracts and glaucoma annually. Dr Moore examines patients who are a few months old to patients in their hundreds! In addition To Dr Moore's private practice he services a population that cannot come to him. He visits nursing homes and hospitals,and goes to group homes to see the disabled. In addition if a person has had a stroke, or for whatever reason cannot go to him he will make a home visit. What doctor still does that now. The motto in the office is delivering clarity and value with care. This is what Dr moore is all about! A truly sweet find in the valley !! read more

My first review based on the worst experience I've ever had so far. First of all I was prescribed with wrong contact lenses, meaning instead of -2.50 for both eyes I received +2.50. Second I was told I would get a call within 3 days so I could go pick up my contact lenses(which I already paid for) and after not receiving any calls from the doctor's office during past 2 weeks I went back to the office to find out what's going on. No customer service! No apologies at all! After returning the contact lenses in order to get the right ones I was told to wait another 3 days(which most likely will be again 2 weeks) Ended up having a pair of temporary lenses that doesn't match my prescription.
