Stellar service! I got my eye exam done since I needed to update my glasses. My old one is 5 years old! Making an appointment was easy. I noticed several of their equipment were new, state of the art. My optometrist was friendly and courteous. When it came time for my glasses fitting Artie (or Arty, sorry if I'm getting the spelling wrong!) was so nice and patient! He cleaned my old glasses and changed the worn out nose bridge pads (I can't believe I didn't have this change sooner!). I must have stayed about an hour since I could not make up my mind. Artie gave me several more options from the brands I narrowed down. Honestly he made glasses shopping worthwhile since I didn't feel rushed. He even told me that I can donate my old glasses to charity. I had no idea! I ended up getting a brown Prada glasses. I highly recommend coming here. The staff are amazing! read more

I found this a place years back and it has changed practitioners but still has retained the qualities that make repeat customers. Friendly, knowledgeable service and staff and relatively low prices. I can't speak for the exam because I've not had that experience. The cost of lenses could be the lowest I've found. The only caveat is that you need to purchase the frames there. Not to worry, as they have a very nice selection to choose from. Well worth the trip and the time. read more

Everyone there is extremely kind and knowledgeable. I have been going there since 2018 once a year and the staff remembered me. I was able to have my eyes dilated, fit for contacts and glasses all in the same appointment. I believe most of the staff have been working there since I started going or I'm sure longer. Their medical equipment is top quality. Their flashy showroom is well lit and the glass cases are filled with glasses and sun glasses of all brands. All I can say are the good things like how they got me and my daughter in same day when I called and they took care of us like we were at VIP patients and they got us in and out really quick. I came here because my insurance covered most of what I needed; eye exam, new glasses &prescription. First, I was called &they said they had received my approval of authorization so they set me up an appointment. They didn't give me the name or address of the place, just said to come in. &the doctor I had went to prior said that when my insurance authorized what I needed, I would go to a location on Ventura. However, only after wasting my time &going to the wrong place did I realize they were a completely different building, let alone city. Very strange mix up since I had never been there &had never heard of them. 3weeks later I rescheduled an appointment. I go, & they give me my glasses prescription & have me choose frames. I paid $100 out of pocket to get my contacts prescription. The glasses situation went very smoothly &the guy that helped me out was very kind, which is the only reason why this place is getting more than one star from me. Now, let's talk about the contacts situation. I wanted the prescription only, &I told that to the doctor. They wanted me to pay between $120-160 per month for each eye, &I kindly declined with the explanation that I can get daily contacts for about $30 per eye for a whole month through wholesale websites. From then on, the doctor seemed displeased because all I wanted was my eyes to be measured. They gave me trial dailies for a week, which was interesting, but slightly uncomfortable & I didn't have much information on how to maintain the contacts. All they do is make sure you know how to put in &take out the contacts. They didn't tell me about how to keep the contacts moist or, better yet, approx. how long I can wear each set of dailies. (FYI it's approx. 12 hrs, mind you I was wearing them for about 17 hrs max some days &wondering why they were so dry LOL) A week later (June 3rd) I come in &tell them my eyes were too dry, so they give me a new set of trial dailies. They gave me enough for only 5 days, but regardless after the trial I actually didn't like the new ones at all, but the doctor did help by prescribing specific moisturizing eye drops. On June 10th I thought I was supposed to go in but I was having trouble getting a ride through Uber, so I called greater valley to reschedule. On the phone, a guy answered &said to hold, so I waited 10 minutes to no response so I hung up &called back. A lady picked up the 2nd time &told me that my appointment was over the phone so there was no need to come in, I just needed to give them feedback on the new trial I had. I told her I didn't like them, that I preferred the first ones &that if I had used the drops with the first ones I might've been satisfied since the beginning. She said that was interesting and that she would report my feedback to the doctor, & the doctor would call me back to either provide a new trial or finalize everything. I said that's fine &hung up very happy and excited. Yesterday, June 22 I called and let them know I had been waiting for over a week for feedback but no one had called to either schedule a new appointment or update me with what the next step was. I said I called June 3rd (which was my mistake since I actually called June 10th). This morning, June 23 I received a slightly rude call from greater valley basically saying that they never received a call from me, especially on June 3rd. This morning I called back, with the same energy, &told them that I made a mistake on the date, but that I did in fact call. If I didn't call, how would I have known that the doctor would either finalize my prescription or give me a new trial? I didn't come up w this out of my ass, as it was the direct response I had gotten from the person over the phone. Once she goes "well I don't know who you talked to because it wasn't me &we don't have any notes written down on your feedback for the trial..." Yeah, I was over it. I told her that's fine, just finalize my prescription because I realized if I stick to wearing the contacts for 12 hours max plus use the drops the doctor had recommended, I should be content. She asked if I wanted to buy my prescription from them, &I thoroughly refused. She said whatever my prescription was, it would have to be my specific prescription under a specific brand, &I told her that was fine because that brand was available through the wholesale website, I just literally need the papers that tell me all my prescription information. She said she should send my prescription through email within the next 24 hours, so I hope to get that soon &have this be the end of my experience with greater valley. Greater valley, next time, have a better attitude and take responsibility for your mistakes with clients. I understand that you're busy, but I don't need your attitude or to tell me what I did or didn't do just because someone else forgot to write down notes, let alone do their job right. read more

Got a message more than a week ago they where already in the office , I called 4 days after that message just to hear a rude girl tell me they have been there .. so I asked soooo when are you shipping them? Very, very small office. Floors are dirty. Walls are dirty and damaged. The appointment was at 2:45 and at 3:25 we still weren't seen. Then we go in and the doctor has her read an eye chart. Fine. Then she puts her into the eye machine and does the lens check of is 1 better or is 2 better. So that happens about 4 times. At no point, does she actually find the right lenses where my daughter can actually see. When I go to an eye appointment, they do the lens check. Then they put the lenses on that will actually allow me to be able to see and THEN they do the eye chart again and say, ok now, read the bottom line . I don't understand how she knows what the prescription is when she never puts the right prescription in her eyes to see if they actually work! ALSO no eye air puff test. For the record, a child's eye exam should consist of: -dilate the eyes to get a better look in your child's eyes. -vision test to see if your child is farsighted or nearsighted. -A pupil test to determine how your child's eyes react to light. -An eye movement test to check your child's peripheral vision. DO NOT GO TO THIS OPTIMETRY CENTER. I went here for just reading glasses the order took forever to get there but it wasnt too bad. But when my wife went to get an eye exam and to get a prescription for contacts they gave so many excuses on ordering them. When it was time for her second appointment they said they had "forgot" to order the contacts for her. The receptionist is the rudest woman i have ever spoke to. Has no idea what customer service is. This company really needs to get more organized and have better management. Worst Optometry center. read more

Eye exams are pretty casual and straight forward... at GVO, they take the time to explain what they are doing and teach my 11 yo son, making him very comfortable. Then the owner and I had a friendly conversation that proved he was in no rush and cared very much about what I wanted to share with him. They are definitely about the patients first. Dr Ani is absolute trash, horrible eye doc. Rude, canceled my follow up exam after the fact when I already got there wouldn't call 1800 contacts to verify my script even thou I spent $600 out of pocket on some glasses. Total crook, do yourself a favor and go literally anywhere else. read more

The Vision Therapist here is amazing! I was worried my 11 month old had a lazy eye. I spoke with her at length on the phone and she told me to come in and she would check him out for FREE to see if there really was a problem. I came in with the baby and she tested him out and told me there wasn't a problem. Who does that!?!? She gave me some exercises to do with him at home and to call her in 6 months to see how things were. This sort of care is rare in this day and age. Love it! read more

I have been coming to this place before it was the new doctors and it was sort of sketchy to me. Now I have been back since the new ownership. The service is 100% improved. Really nice and attentive team. The machines they use are super new and innovative. I feel their process is very thorough, and really impressive actually. My new doctor is amazing, she is very honest and spot on. I feel like the previous team wasn't so honest unfortunately. TOTAL CON ARTISTS Recently visited for my wife and I to get an eye exam. I will gladly give one star because as all the other reviews seem to state, everyone here was very polite and very friendly. Beyond that, this place completely tried to scam my wife and I. After examining our eyes they put drops in to dilate our pupils for further examination and told us it would make our vision blurry. Then they asked us to come sit down and we can pick out some frames and talk pricing, that's when the fun began..... Started by telling us pricing would be different because we have different for each of us because we have different insurance policies. Had to correct them but ok, honest mistake right? Only one pair of frames our insurance will cover without an additional charge. No straight answer on the price of anything else..."oh about this much" or "probably about that much" for everything. Told my wife her lenses were going to be considerably more money because she needs bifocals. She decided that to save some money she would just get reading glasses for now. Told us the exam would be a 10 dollar co-pay (which is true) and that it would be 10 dollars for the prescription and 40 dollars for the lenses plus whatever frames we choose. I told him that didn't sound correct according to my insurance paperwork. He told me "no look, it's all right here see?" No I can't see or read because of the drops that were put in my eyes! Suddenly I realized that this didn't seem to be an appropriate way to do business...blur my vision and THEN start talking numbers and try to justify it in writing?? When I again stated that I remember my insurance policy stating something other than the numbers he was giving us he told me "yeah, you'll find that with insurance companies...they tell you all the good stuff but don't tell you about the additional costs they don't cover." Something didn't seem right so to my wife's dismay I talked her into waiting on the glasses so I could review our policy. So he gave us the print out that he was using and making notes on and we went home. After reviewing our policy and the paperwork this jackwagon let us leave with it turns out I was right! The $10 he wanted to charge for the prescription was actually the $10 for the copay on the lenses! The additional $40 for the lenses he quoted was actually for lens upgrades we hadn't even discussed or authorized! On top of that our insurance covers the bifocals that my wife needs for the same $10 copay! So they were going to let her leave without the glasses she actually needs!! On top of that I learned we could have forgone the eyedrops and blurry vision by getting retinal imaging which our insurance covers for an additional $10 copay but they told us it would be $39 dollars!! My fault for not remembering that part about our insurance I guess. Long story short, go here if you want but know your insurance policy because this place will try to screw you over. A wise man once told me there is plenty of honest money to be made, there is no reason to screw people over. Guess these guys don't buy into that concept. Instead of selling us glasses they sold us nothing but the exam. Took our prescriptions elsewhere and got the glasses we needed, customer service equal or better to what we received here and paid what we're supposed to pay with our insurance. Plus chose to pay for an upgrade or two once we knew what was going on. Guess these guys care more about every dime they can get right now instead of what they can get from a long term customer. read more

I normally do lenscrafters eye exam and those can be very impersonal. I am a student and have recently been covered by medi-cal who directed me to Dr. Weiss. The eye exam was wonderful. He was kind and friendly and very thorough. My boyfriend came with me to just wait for me and they happened to have a cancellation right after my appointment and were able to see him right away. It was so much better than any other eye exam I have ever had. read more

This business has been well organized and delivered really well for Vision Therapy. However they are now closing the Vision Therapy department giving me only 2 weeks notice. School has finished for summer vacation now, so I have to somehow contact LAUSD and get approval to go somewhere else without any assistance to navigate this system... which is tricky even during term time! From the minute I walked in, they were already asking me about how I wanted to use my benefits. To make a long story short, they wanted to charge me more for the eye exam for contacts if I wanted to use my benefits to purchase a frame. Because I did not have a copy of my insurance benefits, I asked them to make a copy of the one they had and straight up told me no and to reach out to the insurance. When I tried to do that, they said to step out somewhere else while I figured that out. They were making faces and speaking in Russian - completely disrespectful. Because I really had no choice to have my exam done, I went ahead with the eye exam but told them I would not be purchasing any contacts or frames - since that's when they would charge me more for the eye exam for the contacts. In my 20 years of having eye exams yearly, I have never been so uncomfortable or had so many issues. When I finally got home and confirmed with the insurance, they were indeed trying to scam me for more money for the eye exam for the contacts, from 60$ to 100$!!! Just ridiculous! If you need to come here, be well aware of what your insurance covers so you don't get scammed. read more
