I initially visited the store to have my glasses repaired. During my first visit, associates Leilani and Daisy assisted me by ordering replacement side pieces for my glasses. They were both extremely kind, professional, and took the time to listen to my frustrations. They validated my concerns and ordered the replacement at no charge, clearly informing me that the parts would be provided at no cost. After not receiving another call, I followed up with the store and spoke with the assistant store manager (male), who told me the parts had again been returned and needed to be reordered. While I was there, I clarified once again that I had been told by Leilani and Daisy that there would be no charge, and he confirmed that the parts would be free. I was so appreciative at the time that I even gave him a Stanley Cup as a thank-you. Unfortunately, I was not notified when the parts arrived the second time either. I called the store again, and the assistant store manager informed me that the parts were in and that he would be available that day or the next to install them. I confirmed one more time that there would be no charge, and he said yes. When I came in, the store manager Lisa installed the parts but then informed me I would be charged over $100. I explained that I had been told by 3 different associates and one being the assistant store manager that there would be no charge. After her contacting the assistant store manager, he stated that he only said the "repair" was free, not the parts which was not what had been communicated to me. This was frustrating and confusing, especially since I had made multiple trips and had been consistently told otherwise. That said, I want to sincerely commend the store manager Lisa. Lisa listened patiently, considered the full context, and ultimately honored what I had been told by her team. Lisa handled a difficult situation with professionalism, kindness, and understanding, and she resolved the issue by providing the replacement parts at no charge. I truly appreciated that she believed me and acknowledged that the miscommunication was not my fault. Despite the missteps along the way, the store manager's handling of the situation is the reason for this positive review. Thank you Lisa for making it right!!

After experiencing a problem with the shoes, I returned to the store expecting REI to honor what they promised. Instead, the store manager, Peter, refused to accept the return, despite the shoes having a legitimate issue and despite the membership guarantees that were explained to me at the time of sale. This experience makes it very clear that REI's "one-year membership guarantee" is misleading and unreliable. What was presented as a benefit turned out to be meaningless when I actually needed it. I feel deceived and misled. This kind of practice damages customer trust and reflects very poorly on store management. Be careful before purchasing an REI membership or relying on their return promises. Based on my experience, the guarantee is not honored consistently, and customers may end up feeling scammed.

I was able to get an appointment the next day and that is a plus for me since I have limited days off, but happened to be off that Saturday. Located at the Balboa Mission plaza center, the plaza itself has a huge parking lot. It is in a busy intersection of the valley, but nonetheless, nice area. Upon arrival, I made it in to my 9AM appt. on time and was kindly greeted by one of the staff members there, she was the same individual who assisted me over the phone. I (think) her name was Tatiana, she was so patient during my visit. She performed my eye exams and explained details per exam. She then prepared me to see the Doctor himself. Dr. H was so chill, kind, and dedicated to his specialty. He really shows compassion for what he stands for. I appreciated meeting him and getting to know him and his practice a bit. The practice was bought off by him from previous owner and he has slowly made renovations internally, making the office space more modern and equipped with upgraded technology. He was patient with me and answered my questions and concerns. My exam went well and no abnormal findings. I was off to select my new frames and I couldn't decide from their various selections available. Also, they ran out of space, so ask to see more, since they may have stocked elsewhere not on display, the staff there is more than happy to assist. They carry brand selections and unique styles. I tried on a couple of frames until I found the right ones, staff is also helpful and suggesting, which is nice since it can be overwhelming to be indecisive from all the nice frames. Once I picked out my frames, Tatiana explained how my insurance works and what would be most beneficial to add to the lenses. I appreciated knowing how my new vision plan worked and what co-pays I was expected to pay, etc. All-embracing, my visit was very pleasant and efficient. I will be back soon to pick up my new frames and I can't wait to wear them. Thank you to everyone at Mission Family Optometry for making my visit experience a positive one.
