But there must've been some pesticide overspray on the plants from Monarca because my caterpillars all died. I watched some of them twitching violently before they died. I visited this nursery once before and was impressed by the large number of milkweed plants in stock. The owner even showed me a green Monarch chrysalis that was attached ito a piece of drip tubing. I didn't even think about the pesticide aspect until my caterpillars died. If you don't care whether or not they use pesticides then sho here but if you're trying to raise Monarch caterpillars, then you should go contact the people at This Is a Monarchy, which is up in Thousand Oaks. These people are very careful even about the fertilizer they use and use zero pesticides. You have to call them and make an appointment because it's a private residence. They're the ones who told me what probably happened to my poor caterpillars. I still feel bad about them!

Grab a wagon and load up because you won't know when to stop with some many great plants, deals on supplies and their inviting layout. As a small chain of garden centers meets plant nurseries I have to say this location stands out. Their online shop is easy also with get learning materials, newsletters , resources and even a plant library. I'll never forget my first trip here with my friend Sam, definitely need to hit her up again for a plant day, but absolutely still enjoy coming here with others and of course solo for some planty self-care. Adding some Elephant Bush (Portulacaria afra) friends to the plant family at home. Absolutely and 818/SFV/LA Valley favorite among many. You'll want to get lost between the many areas the have here and in the main area as well as their extended open air garden on the parking lot side. Staff here is very personable and extremely knowledgeable. From lawn and outdoor patio furniture or fixtures, fountains, decorations and plant care musts, GTN has a bit of it all. It's well maintained in plants and people. I had a specific succulent I wanted to buy and called nine different nurseries before reaching Brandon on the phone at Standard. Instead of just telling me "no" like the others, he chatted with me...explaining how some succulents are created as a hybrid for one season and often are hard to find again. When I drove here, I was created by Anthony Gardner, a cheery, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and helpful guy who showed real interest in my needs. And I wound up buying three plants for different areas in my garden. Two plants that I needed in multiple flats were sent to one of their many locations closer to me, so I didn't need make that long drive again. We've had follow up phone calls and each time I've found him friendly, responsible and, truly, going the extra mile for me.
