Love this place! This nursery was recommended by our landscaper and I am so impressed. Great selection, service and prices. Anything they didn't have in the nursery they were able to order within 1-2 days and deliver for a very reasonable price. We used VN nursery for all the plants in our front yard and they look amazing - they were even able to order the exact magnolia tree I wanted and have delivered that week. I had gone to Moon Valley nursery and they were charging 3x for the exact same plants and couldn't deliver for 6-8 weeks. Go with VN!!! Thank you Jose for being so easy to work with. VN nursery used to be a place to buy healthy, happy plants for less than the major nurseries (Armstrongs, Hashimoto, etc.). Now the plants are neither affordable nor healthy. There was a major renovation, after which the prices doubled and several plants I bought died fairly quickly. Jose is still a terrific rep for the place, but it is a place I will not go to again, preferring, as you might guess, healthy, affordable plants. read more

So i decided to buy from them instead of going to my original destination. Prices are very reasonable, and I got same day delivery in 2--4 hours. They were very nice, sold me 3 gallon plants when my landscaper told me to ask for 5 gallon because the 3 gallon looked better, so plus stars for that. The minus 2 stars is because the prices are quite a bit higher than the place just down the block. I went to the wrong one. I paid $32 each for $20 plants. Learned my lesson. The dirt was probably overpriced as well. Very good service however. read more

RESEDA LOCATION: Visited 5/9/2021- The nursery itself is really cute but service was another thing. I was about to make my purchase and when I asked if I could get some help grabbing the plant a very rude "lady" told me in a extremely condescending tone "We don't that there and you need to grab it yourself". Why would I even bother to spend my money at a place who treats people like that? I drove about a mile up to California Nurseries on Roscoe and Wilbur instead who mind you was $4 less than the plant I was going to purchase from V&N and they even helped put plastic and the plant in my car before I even asked. I wanted to support a small local business versus shopping at Lowe's or Home Depot so we gave this nursery (Reseda location) a try. I was genuinely shocked at the hostility of their employee. Brenda, who let us know she had been working with this nursery for 20+ years was so rude. Her attitude was completely uncalled for. I genuinely don't know if she was having a bad day, or if she just did not want to be there but I have never had such a hostile interaction in any retail transaction. Looking back I regret completing the purchase, I should of taken my business elsewhere immediately. I'm sorry, but if you have the time on your hands and want to invest in plants just go to Rolling Greens. My friend and I ventured over here and wanted some plants and when we asked where the cherry tomato plants were the man literally waved his hand and said "somewhere over there" and walked away. And any questions you asked him he was so so dismissive. And after finding the plant I wanted they said it was a $10 minimum. So, why do you sell $3 plants then? If they would have even been the least bit helpful I would have purchased enough plants to hit the minimum but I just turned around and walked out. Save yourself the time. I should have read the reviews before I went here last week. I was looking for lavender and the staff were so uninterested in helping me locate it. They would wave in the general direction. I looked for what I wanted then felt overwhelmed and frustrated by the amount of items without labels and asked for help. A gentleman said a woman would help, I waited 2 mins and walked out to the next nursery on my list. The next nursery I visited stopped what they were doing to help me and even offered advice. So sad because I plan to start my lawn, garden and raised plant bed. I won't be revisiting this establishment. read more

Today, me and my mom went to the V & N Nursery to get some plants. We left with four. The V & N Nursery has a nice selection of plants. A plus of our visit was a staff member who answered our plant-related questions, and helped load our plants into the car. Note: I saw some dead, dying, and broken plants here, though the majority of plants on display looked healthy and alive. read more

Sooooo much more affordable than Rolling Greens or other nurseries in the area. I got huge ceramic planters for $13-19 that were at least $100 other places, and a $20 mature passion fruit tree. And they were perfectly friendly and helpful. I suppose if you know nothing about plants you might want to go to a fancier place but this was fine for me! read more

The customer service here is fantastic! And it's a lot bigger than it looks from the street. They have a wide selection of succulents and flowers. If you walk all the way to the back there is a lot of various shrubs and trees as well. I was looking for an arrangement that I could give as a gift. They have mostly plants ready to plant in the ground and not so much ready to go gifts and such. read more

BEWARE of purchasing anything from here. What a waste of money. I wanted to support a local nursery so I purchased eight Silver Sheen shrubs (Pittosporum tenuifolium) from here. Within 3 months FIVE of them started to die! They started to turn brown and despite doing water tests, soil check, and fertilizer, etc, there has been nothing to bring them back to life. And now they are just branches with brown leaves barely hanging on. I went back to the nursery to see if they had any suggestions or would offer a refund as Home Depot and Lowes offers a one year guarantee on their plants. Well it took awhile for anyone to acknowledge me and when I was finally able to flag someone down, he appeared to be annoyed that I wanted to ask him a question. And yes, I did ask him if he was busy, and he told me he was not. I told him my situation and he said that all of the plants they sell are perectly healthy when they leave the nursery and it must be something I am doing. He said I could be over watering or under watering. I tried to explain to him that three of the eight are totally flourishing and but five of the shrubs are dying. Yet they are all planted in the same area with a drip system so they all get the same watering and sunlight. He appeard to completely not interested and that I was taking too much of his time. He didn't even make an attempt to suggest other options of what I could do to save the plant. I asked him if the nursery offered guarantees on the plants and he flat out said they do not give refunds or exchanges. I explained that the the bigger stores do that and he asked if I had a receipt. I told him I could find it and bring it back. But he said, he couldn't do anything anyway for me. So why even ask me for my receipt??!!! It was infuriating to try to get any type of customer service and toask that they would stand behind their product fell on deaf ears. Clearly it's CAVEAT EMPTOR here! Too bad that a small nursery treats the clients like this. I guess I will be sticking with the Garden and Nursery companies like Home Depot that will not only stand by their product, but they will even give you a full refund or exchange if something happens to the plant within a year. And they actually take the time to explain how to care for your plants. V & N Nursery, this is one customer who will never be coming back, and will be referring any nursery and gardening business elsewhere. So much for trying to support a local business. I guess THIS is the reason why people don't bother. read more

It would be 1 star if not for the man who tried to help. Dealbreaker was Brenda, to which at least one other review refers. I went in search of a bag of soil, she said $7 after looking me up and down as if I was lucky she was speaking to me. She seemed as if making up prices, maybe not, and definitely did her best to stay on the phone while I was there, right next to her with a question, seemingly purposefully ignoring an opportunity to help. It took nice guy Eddie's suggestion for her to end the call, meanwhile he'd stopped to help me while hauling 11 plants on a cart like a mule to another customer's car. I so intended to carry soil home and to support local, small business. It was not to be, as I'd have regretted pitching in on homegirl's Taco Bell. Shame too...walking around the nursery is magical. Update 3.31.13: There's another section of this business, entrance facing Carl's Jr. parking lot, same company. When I went here at a later date, thinking it was a different co., Jose was very helpful and courteous, thus earning them 1 more star. Watch out! The young lady who takes your money, (from a post elsewhere I think her name's Brenda) is bad news. No. 1- She isn't knowledgeable about plants. No. 2- She needs a major attitude adjustment. No. 3- She charges sales tax on all items, whether they are fruit trees and tax exempt items or not. Per CA State Board of Equalization, seeds and plants meant for human consumption are NOT taxable. (California State Board of Equalization Regulation 1588). Maybe some day she'll learn, if her attitude gets out of the way. Customer relations is certainly not their strong point. read more

Worst customer service experience ever! I called to ask for the phone number of their valley wholesale store and they wouldn't give it to me because I'm "not a business." I explained I wanted it for my gardener but she still refused to give me the number saying my gardener should call. He can't call without having the number!!! Who's ever heard of a phone number being secret from customers, even if they do only sell wholesale. Most preposterous conversation and policy ever and my gardener will be buying the 20 flats and 10 trees I needed elsewhere. Way to go! read more

They have a great selection for outdoor plants including trees, bushes and flowers. They however, do not have much of a selection for indoor plants. Customer service left a lot to be desired, honestly I felt they just wanted me to leave. Will probably not return, but if you are looking for cheap outdoor beautiful plants this place is worth checking out. read more

I was in the area and saw the nursery and decided to stop by, I was greeted by this young lady..I think her name was Alicia and I was asking about a specific plant I was looking for and was introduced to this young man named Jose, who was very helpful and knowledgeable..was given great service and ended up leaving with a lot more then I expected. They have a great selection there and pretty much can get whatever you want for a great price..I will do all my nursery shopping there!!! read more

I have always seen this place driving down Sepulveda and I am so glad I finally stopped! For a succulent and cactus lover, it's like being in heaven. We stopped in late on a Saturday and the owners were very gracious with us... the cats that walk around are pretty adorable too. I found some great plants and took them home - it wasn't too expensive overall. Really glad there's a place like this with such a huge selection! read more

I went here for the first time yesterday. My review is based on the following: THE GOOD: - The selection and quantity are great. - Good customer service at the lot closer to Venice Blvd. This nursery, which shares a parking lot with Carls Jr, is not huge but is beautifully maintained. Better yet, within 90 seconds of me entering, an employee approached and asked if he could help. He was very good at answering questions (which is particularly important, as I'm a total newbie), and was very friendly. When I told him that I was looking for vines, he suggested I go to their other lot, which is located roughly a block south. THE BAD: - Terrible customer service at the lot closer to Washington Blvd. The employees that were working yesterday - one woman and two men - must have absolutely no vested interest in whether or not the business generates any income, because not one of the three working could be bothered to assist me. ALL of them saw me shopping (and I was the only customer there), and no one asked if they could help me. I even tried to ask a couple of them questions, but was given short, uninformative answers, and then promptly ignored. They are clearly not interested in making sales. In fact, the woman that was working was on the phone inside the shop, and when she saw that I wanted to ask her a question, she instead threw herself into her phone call using the business' landline. To look at me, one wouldn't know I speak Spanish, but I do. And I can verify that her phone call was not a work call; it was about a pair of shoes that she wanted, and how a store didn't have the color she was looking for. She turned her back to me while talking on the phone about a stupid pair of shoes. Unbelievable. - There are no labels on any items. No labels with the name of the plant, nor with the price. This means that to know what kind of plant or flower you are considering purchasing is, and/or how much it costs, you are completely dependent on communicating with an employee. Which brings me back to my first bullet point under "THE BAD". And which is why I walked out with nothing. If this place wants to turn a profit without replacing its staff, they should label every item with complete information, including care, so that shoppers can at least have some information. But as it stands, the only thing shoppers can glean without assistance is the color and current size and shape of an item. That's ridiculous. From the outside, this looks like an incredibly viable business. Overall, they offer a wonderful selection and volume, and everything at both locations is very well cared for. But, as my father once told me: Businesses usually fail NOT due to a lack of viability, but due to poor management, and I am very concerned that might happen here. (To be clear: I refer specifically to the lot closer to Washington. The one near Venice is light years better w/r/t customer service. But unfortunately, the lot near Washington is four times the size, so it is the one that should be anchoring the business.) I would like to go back to shop there, but the reality is that if I find any other nursery that has better customer service, I probably won't. read more
