Outstanding plants for the discriminate cactus and succulent plant collector. Lots of super rare, super unique succulent plants. Huge offerings from most of the "collector's " plants of interest. You don't find these plants easily.. (They do have a large offerings of interesting plants for beginners, but you don't always have to start with Aloe Vera), You that cool? Then this is the place to find plants that people talk about. Exotic, rare Euphorbias, beautiful varieties of all the "caudiciforms", and an offering of fantastic Copiapoas , you have to see to believe. The whole nursery is like that, they offer not just Mammallarias, but some really cool varieties, [like the one I posted came from DC...]. same with Haworthias, almost show quality already! That's because Artie Chavaz is an owner. He, and his wife Kim, run the nursery, where they sell nice pots and all kinds of neat stuff, good people! Artie is one of the most knowledgeable people I've known, about all things 'Succulent'! He knows what varieties and what quality, appeal to collectors, and they provide it! They also sell at most of the big shows and sales in the wide area, LA/ SF /LV/SD/LA.?? If you are serious about spending only slightly more, for the more unusual, rare, award winning plants. Check out "Desert Creations " ASAP PS. I can be hard to find the first time, hint it's in back.... read more

We've checked this spot out a few times. EXPERIENCE: Parking: Street parking and neighborhood parking. Generally, I haven't had any issues. Feels: It can easily be missed as it's kind of in a random place of neighborhoods and a business but just look for the pants and the nurseries. The space itself is pretty big. You are welcomed by plants and is a clean aisle where you get to wander on plants left and right. PLANTS Awesome! Two rooms filled with plants both big and small. They have a fan and place to sit while your partner goes off enjoying CUSTOMER SERVICE: Friendly and knowledgable peeps. OVERALL: 4 Stars. Great selections, reasonable prices. It's a pleasant hidden gem to check out if you're ever in the Valley Tips: - Remember it's not visible of the streets so keep your eyes peeled. read more

Having been a cactus and succulent fanatic for over 40 years, I have nothing but praise for Artie and Km. Not only do they offer rare exotic species, their plants are healthy and hardy. I never worry that they will die, and they transplant [usually ] without a problem. The shop is fun, and the hosts are a treat!! If you have a craving for a nice plant, (or even just a question), this is the place to go! Here are a couple of gems I got from Artie, over the years.... read more

This cute little gem is tucked away behind another building, and across from the Uhaul place. Don't let the outside appearance fool you into thinking it's a small nursery! Once you walk past their gift shop, you will see that their greenhouse and outdoor garden is pretty large and holds so many varieties of cacti and succulents! The staff seem friendly and helpful if you had questions. Over the weekend was their sale, so my friend got 10% off. I didn't buy anything as some were priced very high, but I did enjoy the scenery and browsing at all the plants! read more

Desert Creations is absolutely incredible, never before have I seen such an unbelievable collection of cacti and succulents. Beyond just having the most unique one-of-a-kind plants, they are the most genuine and helpful people. They took the time to explain in such detail all of the plans that I purchased and I was blown away by their tremendous knowledge of these beautiful cacti. They are walking encyclopedias and on top of that just the most friendly people you'll ever meet. You can truly tell that they care so much, and it really meant a lot to me that they spent the time to help me. It's not often you encounter a treasure trove like this, everywhere I looked up down left right... I was amazed! This gem of a spot is truly special I'm so grateful to have found it and I hope many other people visit to find their special cacti. I look forward to coming back and picking out more new succulents for my garden! read more

An amazing collection of thousands of succulents and cacti hidden away behind a small storefront off of Parthenia. I've visited a couple of times and enjoy wandering through the thousands of plants (including some very rare ones) behind the storefront. Parking is limited to a few spaces but you can park on the street. The staff is super helpful and they also sell a wide range of pots and gardening/plant books. I highly recommend it. read more

Desert Creations is the place to go if you're passionate about collecting rare cacti, succulents, and other unique plants. They have an enormous collection to look through so make sure you set aside at least an hour to peruse the rows. Just be careful as there's so much good stuff on display you may end up spending more than you intended. The staff has recently made some big improvements to their outdoor shelving system so it's easier than ever to browse the available plants. The different sections stand apart from one another yet are organized so you easily transition from one to another. The atmosphere here is very laid back and relaxed with a helpful staff of approachable individuals. Artie in particular is one of the most knowledgeable individuals in the realm of cacti/succulents I have ever met. He can guide you to specimens in your price range and knows care instructions for everything they carry. Inside the shop you can find a wealth of books, specialized gardening implements, top dressings, fossils, hand thrown ceramic pots, mineral specimens and more. The price points are very reasonable and even someone with just $10 to spend can come away with some bonafide treasure. Plainly put, this is an excellent location for someone who's advanced past casual collection and is looking to get a little more serious with their hobby. Conversely, this is a great place to get someone a truly unique and interesting gift. read more

I really like this place! It's a bit tricky to find..... It's behind a tan-colored insurance building that is directly across the street from a Uhaul. It almost feels like you're walking into someone's house. Super friendly people! They seem to have a lot of rare stuff. At least, from my novice perspective. read more

I can't recommend this place enough for cactus and succulent lovers. They have an amazing selection ranging from rare specimens for collectors to more common but no less adorable plants for the more casual succulent lover. The guys who work here (I think they're the owners?) were friendly and informative, taking the time to talk about proper care for the plants I picked out and succulents in general. I now have four plants from them and all are healthy and gorgeous. p.s. The selection of caudiciforms is especially impressive! read more

My husband and I stopped in today for the first time to pick up a few succulent plants. The place is behind a florist, and a bit hard to find if it's your first time. It has such a cute and surprising set up, going waaaaay further back than the entrance would have you assume. They have a great selection, and all the plants look healthy and happy. When we walked in, we were greeted by who I assume is the owner, but not sure. She was very friendly and welcoming and asked us what we were looking for, and when we specified exactly what we needed, she led us to the right spot. She even went above and beyond by informing us of another nursery she knows that specializes in succulents. This is a sign of excellent customer service (in my opinion), because she was willing to not only help us find what we needed that she could offer, but took her care for our specific needs to another level by referring us to someone that may better help us, even though it could cost her some of our returning business. Overall, great experience, we were in and out and will for sure be back as they are right in our backyard! Thanks! read more

This place is a real hidden gem. If you've ever gone to a cacti show and saw a vendor that had all the cool stuff----it's these guys. The staff is really friendly, knowledgeable and their prices are competitive with what you find online. We found it! It's easy to drive right past this shop/garden since there is no sign on Parthenia. Rare and exotic to the affordable. This is THE place for greenhouses, shop, patios full of cactus goodness. read more

The best rare plant nursery. The succulents and cactus selection is overwhelming, they sell hand made pots, tools, soil etc. This is a small nursery that specializes in the rare and hard to find. Every plant is a treasure, each more interesting than the last The people who own the nursery run the nursery. They answered all my questions, and showed me how to grow the plants I already had. These are hands on experts. They told me which plants I shouldn't buy, which was refreshing. They will even put plants into pots with a nice gravel on top for gift giving If only to see the strange plants this is a great nursery read more

THE only place for hard-to-find plants. Seriously, you are wasting your time if you go anywhere else. Amazing selection of truly bizarre and unique specimen plants for the discerning collector. THAT SAID, this is not a place to come for deals (though they do sometimes have great sales, and there are a few times I've been and seen things marked waaay lower than you'd expect) and this is not a place for "basic" houseplants (you know, Monstera, Pilea, Pothos) - if you want that stuff you're better off hitting up Home Depot. I would go broke shopping here if I had enough space to store everything I want to buy! read more

For rare and unusual cacti and succulents from all over the world, Desert Creations wowed me. The staff with years and years of hands-on experience answered every question expertly and discussed what will and won't work for a home or office environment. The plants large and small, common and crazy, seemed to go on forever. They have bins of staging rock and pebbles, tools, soils, handcrafted pots, a laaarge gift area with unique artisan goods, and even an area to sit and chat. It's well worth a visit. read more

What I like about Desert Creations is that everyone that works there can tell you what is required to properly grow the plant you buy. So many times I have brought a plant home and just killed it because I did not know where it was from or is it a winter grower or a summer grower. I have really enjoyed the adventure of growing properly since I became a regular at Desert Creations. Artie and Kim are my favorites, they are there Saturday and Sunday. But everyone is great. read more

My wife and I moved away from Southern California last year and Desert Creations is one of the only spots I truly miss. Ask questions! Great for beginners and experts. read more
