I decided to try this optometrist because it had good reviews and it was local and covered by my insurance. What a mistake. My appointment was on a weekday, and it went okay. We waited a bit to be seen which was surprising because the office was empty. But the optometrist was a young lady and she was amazing, very thorough. She took her time and explained everything as she was going through the exam. She was the only good thing about this whole ordeal. After the exam, I started browsing for frames, with very little input or help from the staff in the front. The only time she would help was to try to push some expensive designer frames on me. It was obvious she was trying to make the sale, I told her the type of frames I was looking for and she would bring out some designer frames that weren't even close to what I described. I ended up ordering some more affordable frames and they said it would take about a week to arrive. So I waited for that first week and no call from the office, so I called in and asked if the glasses arrived and they said no maybe next week. So now week 2 comes around and still no call, so I call in and asked if they've arrived and the answer is no, maybe next week. So now week 3 arrives and of course no call from them. So I call in and ask if my glasses have arrived, they say oh no they're still not ready. So now it is week 4, an entire month of waiting for glasses that were originally supposed to be ready in a week. I still have not received my glasses at this time, with no eta of when they are actually going to arrive. It seems like they are just guessing at this point, the worst part is I have not received one phone call from them giving me an update this entire month of waiting. All of the updates I've gotten, is a result of me calling and asking. I believe the only reason this place has a decent rating is because the optometrist is really good. BUT that is ruined by the truly incompetent staff that is in the front office. I do not recommend this place to anyone. This has been a terrible experience. Please look elsewhere. read more

I had a terrible experience with VISIONMAX Optometrist. On Thursday March 13th, I was charged $364 for prescription lenses that I did not authorize and never received. The way they handled my inquiry was frustrating and unprofessional. Before my visit, I called ahead and specifically mentioned that I only needed to refill an eye drop prescription and nothing more. Lucia, their receptionist, had incredibly poor phone etiquette; she seemed eager to end our conversation before I could finish asking questions about additional services but after her rudeness I wasn't interested anymore for any other additional services just only get my refill prescription. The next day, I went in, and instead of being informed about the costs upfront I was just directed to sit down for a series of check-ups. When Dr. Han diagnosed me with dry eyes, I reiterated my request for eye drop refills BECAUSE of the dry eyes! Instead, the doctor insisted I needed new lenses, despite the fact that my current lenses and frames were relatively new and I've reiterated that like multiple times to Doctor and the staff there I didn't come in for an upgrade--I just wanted a REFILL!!!! To make matters worse, they falsely claimed and over exaggerated that the eye drops would cost over $100-$300. I wasted hours at CVS, only to find out later that I only had to pay $3 for the exact same eye drops! According to the pharmacy, these drops were only $58 out of pocket. Once I confronted them about my whole experience through phone and texting they tried to convince me not to dispute the charges with my credit card company. Instead, they attempted to bribe me with a series of 30% discounts and other offers for glasses and lenses. When I tried to communicate with them, I had to speak to four different people, each giving me four different stories and outcomes regarding how they would process my full refund. In the end, they refused to give me a full refund (because I've mentioned I was going to call my bank) and only offered a partial refund of $114 while still charging me a $100 distribution fee. They deceitfully charged me for something I didn't ask for and left me with a headache from their constant runaround. I strongly advise against visiting VISIONMAX. Save your time and money--there are better optometrists out there who will treat you with respect and honesty! read more

This was a great experience. I have had to wear glasses most of my life and as of recent the last few optometrists I have gone to have their people push their frames on you and tell you what looks good on you and will tell you what you need. I have always known what I need as far as frames and what I want to look like. These folks were great!!! They left me to choose what I wanted without pushing me into buying a frame I will end up not wearing. They were still very helpful in fulfilling my needs. The Dr was awesome and honest. Seeing an optometry office with such a great review of the doctors but poor quality in their staffing tore my heart. I've scheduled sequential appointments for the entire family. Not only the office messed up the patient's name and the correct appointment time, but the office also refused to accept the mistakes they made. The insurance card data makes it easy to identify the office's mistake. Unfortunately, the incorrect appointment is not so black and white. After all, there is no confirmation email or text messages from the office. The front office is the face of the business. The "I'm right" and "you are wrong" attitude is less than ideal. I recommend double and triple-checking your appointment date/time with the office a few days before the appointment. Sadly, I'm uncomfortable wasting time ensuring others do their job correctly. ----------------------------- Update in response to the business owner's reply. The staff specifically mentioned the exam time is 20~30 minutes per person. To that end, the appointment we made is at 3:00 PM so the entire family can finish the exams to avoid our typical family dinner preparation time (with a toddler, our family dinner time is always 5:30 PM) Based on the business owner's response, the staff did not share the truth to the business owner. Typical parents would understand that baby or toddler has a specific rhythm when to eat, to sleep, etc. With that in mind, how's that humanly possible for parents to schedule exams at 4:00 PM for the entire family when the family still needs to prepare food after the exams to ensure the toddler's dinner time is at "5:30"? Furthermore, anyone can easily identify a false statement by looking at the age on the profile. Our child is not even at the TK age. What's the difference between taking the child to a 3:00 PM versus 4:00 PM appointment? Nothing. It's either half-day or full-day. Two possible paths. If it's half-day, does your staff's response makes sense? No. If it's full-day, which is usually until 5:00 PM, does your staff's response make sense? No. Yes, I mentioned all of these when scheduling the appointment. Yes, I mentioned all of these again when the staff called to confirm the appointment. No need to apologize. There are things within and outside of our control. That said, hopefully, as management, you will find this genuine and constructive feedback helpful. read more

Optometrist Dr. Han is professional, thorough, and kind, and the quality of the prescriptions and glasses are first-rate. Their speedy turnaround from ordering to pickup is a plus. Most recently, the bridge of my husband's expensive glasses broke. We took them to a jeweler, a business that specializes in repairing eyeglasses, and even a LensCrafters store and none could repair them. We then went to VisionMax to get them replaced. The frame was no longer available, so LYDIA, who always help us with excellent custom fitting and guidance fittings, really knows her stuff! She found a frame that was comparable and saved us a tremendous amount of money don't the replacement pair, which we got within a week. VisionMax is worth it and always an enjoyable experience. We were extremely happy with the service of the doctor and her amazing team. Sofia, Wendy and the rest of the team. All was great, however this past week I became a raving fan. I was scheduled to participate at the Nautica-Malibu Triathlon and one of my prescription riding glasses came off and broke. Within 48 hours, the had my glasses fixed and ready for race day.
