I enjoy getting take out from Mad Radish every so often when I'm in the mood for something healthy,…read morebut I'm too tired to cook myself. I have tried their Thai Curry Salad as well as their Maple Farm Bowl. Both were satisfying, but the new Maple Farm Bowl is my fav. It comes with a choice of Luisa's chicken or cilantro-lime tofu. I picked the tofu this time since I have tried their chicken before and the tofu was tasty, not too soft or too firm. The Maple Farm Bowl also has curry cauliflower, roasted sweet potato, feta, brown rice, mixed greens, crunchy chickpeas and maple chipotle dressing. I like to order my dressing on the side typically, so that I can control how much I want. The Maple Farm Bowl was pretty delicious and I wouldn't change anything about it except that I feel like the crunchy chickpeas don't really go with the rest of the Bowl. I think if they weren't crunchy then they would, but the crunchy texture just seemed out of place to me when I was eating it. Maybe others would like that though. I've never sat down to eat at Mad Radish, but the ambiance seemed nice enough and clean. The service has been good the times that I have picked up with my order ready to go. I hope that the Maple Farm Bowl stays on the menu and isn't a limited time only dish!

I've eaten at Freshii before in other parts of the city, so I knew what to expect. What was a surprise was how affordable their offerings are compared to other salad bowl restaurants in the area. But, being a chain franchise comes at a compromise. In the quest to have the food taste the same regardless of which Freshii you visit, the ingredients aren't as unique or as fresh as they could be compared to a restaurant that offers fresh, local ingredients. That being said, it's still nice to have an alternate choice when the family wants a fresh, healthy alternative in Barrhaven. And, the service was fast and friendly!

I've been meaning to try it for so long but never really went in for some reason. So glad I did! I stood there staring at the menu for a little while, not being able to decide what to get. I definitely wanted mango salad and could go for some green curry, which I hadn't had in awhile, so that's what I went with, even though I could've easily gotten at least five things on the menu for just myself. The mango salad (A4 - Yum Ma'Muang) had green mango, cashew nuts, shrimp, red and green onions, and grape tomatoes. I thought it was expensive at $12, but thought I'd splurge anyway. It actually ended up being a bigger portion than I expected, so I was happy. The green mango was super fresh and had that nice, firm bite, same with the other ingredients. Just what I was craving! There were also slices of red onion, but I had expected it to have it, so I didn't realize that ingredient wasn't listed on the menu until later. The green curry (G1 - Gaeng Khiao Wan) came with red and green peppers, zucchini, and sweet basil. There wasn't any eggplant like it listed on the menu, but there were green beans, carrots, and broccoli, so I was happy with all of the additional veggies. I chose chicken as my protein, but you can have beef, pork, or tofu for the same price, or shrimp for an extra $2. It was piping hot and really comforting. There was the perfect amount of all of the ingredients, including the curry broth, and the veggies were cooked but firm. YUM! Both dishes definitely had a heavier hand on the fish sauce, but I really enjoyed them and rice toned it down as well. There was only one woman there who cooked my meal and rang me up. She was the absolute sweetest! Extremely kind and had smiling eyes. She was very patient with me while I decided. She suggested one of the lunch specials with green curry and rice (cheaper), but I wanted to go with the pricier one to support the business (and also bigger because I was really hungry haha). I will definitely be back!

I was fine with that, especially since it would allow me to try two different types of dumplings, lol. I really enjoyed them! Although my order wasn't quite half of each, as I got 3 Manto and 5 Ashak. The Manto are dumplings with ground meat inside. The Ashak are dumplings with leeks inside. Both dumplings had the same wrapper, which was thin and had a nice texture. The ground meat was well seasoned. The leeks were soft and mild in flavour. Overall I enjoyed them both, but liked the Manto better. I loved the creamy sauce they were in and the sprinkling of split peas over the Mantoo. I also got a tiny piece of lean meat thrown into the container. Although I got takeout, I did sit in the restaurant to wait for my food. The restaurant is really pretty inside. There were no other customers dining there at 8:45pm, but there was a steady stream of Uber and Skip the Dishes drivers picking up food. I will be back for more Manto and to try their other dishes. The restaurant is in a strip mall with lots of free parking.

Looks like they probably do some concerts since they have a nice stage set up in the back. Servers were really friendly getting us situated with our daughter and the wagon we use to transport her around. Very family friendly as we saw several other parents with strollers as well. Nice menu and a lot of good beer options. Opted to try their radler and it was delicious, before I remembered I'm not supposed to have grapefruit. The waitress was quick to get me a replacement Guinness. The food came out pretty quick. My wife got the Tuna Poke Wonton, which came out deconstructed I guess... actually ended up working out pretty well. It was quite good, but the poke wasn't nearly as fresh as what we are used to in California. My chicken burger was delicious, the cranberry and brie on it made me feel like thanksgiving. It was really hearty and heavy for a chicken burger, but worth it! The highlight might be the kids menu though. The kids can pick from 4 items Poutine, Fish & Chips, Burger & Fries, or Mac n Cheese. But, it comes with a drink and dessert. Clearly our daughter was on cloud 9 getting chocolate milk and ice cream included in her meal. Her poutine was quite good too, not too salty, nice gravy flavor and melty curds. If you're in the area this is a great stop for food or drinks or both.

The Long Version: District Deli opened up around March 2025 in the space that was Bismallah Pies (was Charlie's Groceteria before that). My husband and I dropped by to pick up a sandwich to share. The sandwiches are all named after nearby streets, which really gives it that neighbourhood feel. All meat sandwiches are $13.99 and vegetarian sandwiches are $12.49. You can also build your own for $13.99 where you can choose 2 meats, one cheese, and whatever vegetables you like. We went with the build your own option. We got roast beef and prosciutto cotto, fresh mozzarella and lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, pickled onions, pickled eggplants, and roasted red peppers, with a bit of honey mustard. The sandwich was really good. The bread was fresh, as were the other ingredients. It was a bit pricey in my opinion, but this is in comparison to other similar sandwich shops with $8-10 sandwiches (like 50 Two Sandwiches or Shorty's Sandwiches), but they are in industrial parts of town, so I get it, rent in Hintonburg is higher. District Deli only has cold sandwiches. No hot sandwiches, at least not at the time of the writing of this review. Service was courteous and efficient. Street parking only. Review #118 (2025)

Prepare to be amazed............... We had heard about his place for months and how awesome it was so we finally decided to try it out. When we got there at mid-day on a Saturday there was a line up out the door. My wife suggested we go for a walk to let the line thin out a but. We got back and the line had thinned out so we went in. They have a set number of sandwiches and you can also make your own, but we decided to try their set sandwiches. I got the Parkdale and the Holland, my wife got the Bayswater, and we picked up a Scott for my daughter. When we got home, we were nothing short of blown away. The quality of the sandwich was amazing - the bread was light and fluffy, a ton of meat, fresh veggies, great sauces, just incredible quality. More importantly, fantastic value for money. Even more importantly, the staff were wonderful - they chatted with us but kept the line moving - super professional and friendly. The quality of the sandwiches here rivals Old Tyme - no word of a lie. The bread they use is very very close to what we had in Lafayette and the quality of the fillings is outstanding. Don't walk, run to this place. It will change your life for what you think about sandwiches.
