I went to Julucas before lockdown to do a dine in meal and ordered my usual creole pasta with a moscow mule and some calamari. The calamari was excellent, fried well to a golden brown but not burnt and was great with the red sauce. My moscow mule was spicy and well mixed. My creole pasta, with shrimp and this amazingly delicious and chewy garlic bread really hit the spot. With the generous portions, i could take some of it home! Unfortunately, i didnt give it a full 5 stars because the proper covid procedure, which is to take down customer information for contact tracing, was not taken.

I have heard rave reviews of Juluca's Bistro and have been really excited to try it, but I am rarely ever in Barrhaven. I finally made it to Juluca's recently for dinner with my husband and another couple. The food was ok in my opinion, but I was not wowed. My husband and I shared the California Salad ($16) and a medium gluten-free pizza with 3 toppings ($25). So it was totally my fault that I did not mention that I have an intolerance to sesame seeds, but the menu did not list sesame seeds as an ingredient in the salad, and I do not expect sesame seeds to be sprinkled on a salad at an Italian restaurant, like maybe at a Japanese restaurant or other Asian restaurant, or some fusion restaurant, but I really didn't expect it at Juluca's. Well, guess what? The California Salad was filled with sesame seeds! So I painstakingly picked off the sesame seeds and had a bit of the salad, but my husband had most of it. The salad was thankfully a real mixed greens salad (no filler cheapie iceberg lettuce), it also had grape tomatoes, cucumbers, avocado, pine nuts and grilled chicken. It came with a honey vinaigrette in the side. Ingredients were fresh. The avocado was nice and green, no black rotten spots. The grilled chicken breast meat was tasty, but the protein portion was pretty small in my opinion. In fact, I found the portion size of the entire salad quite small for the price (the plate was shallow and I found the salad lacked substance to it). Had I ordered this as a meal, I would not have been satisfied. The pizza in the other hand was very substantial, lol. They don't skimp on the cheese! So the gluten-free option is only available in the medium size. You pay an extra $4 for gluten-free. We built our own 3 toppings pizza: steak, artichoke and spinach. The steak was a bit too tough and chewy for my tastes. I did like how we had the option of having the spinach baked with the pizza or sprinkled on top raw after baking. We chose the former. The toppings are all under the cheese at Juluca's. This is not my preference, I'm a toppings on top of the cheese kind of girl. The crust was a bit dry, but it held together well and although I've had better gluten-free crusts, I have certainly had much worse, lol. My husband had a few beers and the one and only beer on draught was $7.50 (Beau's). Our friends had the Frutti di Mare, seafood linguine in a rose sauce ($25) and the Burger with Ceasar salad ($17). They said their meal was ok, but neither of them finished their meal. We went during stage 3 re-openings of the Covid-19 Pandemic. Although indoor dining was permitted, Juluca's only had outdoor patio dining and that is where we ate. They have a fairly large patio. They are not taking reservations during the Covid-19 Pandemic. We called a few days before to make reservations and we were told that they were not making advance reservations because they had bad experiences with people making reservations and not showing up. We were told to call the day of to make reservations. We called the day of and were then told they do not take reservations. Uh, ok. Why did the other person not just tell us that. Whatever, we got there at 5:30pm and we were the only customers there. Excellent! We had our choice of tables. Service was quick and efficient. The restaurant is on the first floor of a building. There's a parking lot shared with other businesses in the building. There are about 5 parking spots reserved for Juluca's customers.

Made a reservation on Saturday night at 730. Good thing as the place was packed! Nice to see this in Barrhaven! Very friendly service. Wifey and I shared a combination pizza (medium) and veal Parm. Our friends had a zucchini bites to start and a steak pizza. Very unique Pizza! Next time I'll try the thin crust. Parm was nice! Pasta was decent (a little overdone) and tasted fresh. There was a slight issue with one of our entrees and one of the owners (I assume) took good care of us. This is an unfortunate part of restaurant 101 but they passed the test. We had 2 drinks each and the bill was $80 something. We will definitely return.

BEST CARROT CHEESECAKE! Oh my God I can't rave enough about this carrot cheesecake! It's not too sweet and has the perfect balance of sweetness and saltiness and cheesiness and moisture with intriguing texture that keeps you coming back for more (I personally don't like cakes that are boring - like vanilla or chocolate birthday cake with the same texture throughout the cake)

A very different type of pizza, a must try. Seems like a mix of cheese and perhaps a cheddar on top that crips up the whole thing. I will order again and will try to have a different one every time.

People need to try the PIZZA here!! Came here with a group of 5 friends and sat out on their new patio set up. The decor was cute and had a industrial vibe to it. The Pizza however, was amazing!!! Our group had: - Calimari - Poutine - Small Cali Pizza - Small italian job I got the Cali Pizza and it was delicious. Crust was crispy and chewy at the same time - they bake this in house in their pizza oven. Tried a slice of the Italian job, and the fig on the pizza complimented well to add some sweetness. A small pizza that came to 13$ was very filling. Other items they have include: Sandwiches, pasta dishes, burgers and ice cream!

This is my first time to this restaurant. It is located in a quiet neighbourhood. Good for family gathering. We order: honey garlic chicken wings: the wings are huge but it was too dry for my liking; Juluca's special; Lasagne: big portion... good for 2 person; Frutti di mate: pasta was al dente & the sauce was just right ; Chicken Alfredo for the kids but we found it's a little too spicy for them; Buffalo pizza (L) very big portion plus taste good...

After I ate the amazing salad, which had romaine lettuce, parmesan, and croutons. The salad was also pretty good, and I ate it pretty fast. I went with my mom, so she gave me some of her mussels, which were delicious. The waiter saw that I demolished the bread, so he gave me more. Did I say the bread was good yet cause it was GOOD. A few people had mentioned this place but there were zero reservations available until the following week. So... I called and asked if they could squeeze in a party of two. They were so incredibly accommodating! We had a table for dinner within a minute of me calling. When we arrived, we were greeted by the friendly valet attendants. The hostess led us to our table, and our incredible dining experience began. We were greeted by Karsten, our waiter, who had the biggest smile I have seen in all of Ottawa. His customer service was unmatched! He offered a solution for each complication and made us feel like royalty. 1000000/5 for the customer service here! Drinks: Old Fashioned: 5/5. A great job done on a classic beverage. Giovanni's: 5/5. I love tequila and love trying a martini that allows the flavor of the tequila to shine with a hint of fruit. Sauvignon Blanc (Family Tree, Canada): 5/5. A crisp, white wine that is refreshing and was the perfect accompaniment to the carbonara. Chianti (Caposaldo, Tuscany, Italy): 5/5. A beautiful, deep, red wine that went perfect with the lamb and lasagna. I may or may not have a case of this wine on order after dinner... Food: Calamari Fritti: 4/5. I loved how crispy the calamari was, but I feel as though the batter needed a little bit more seasoning. Just a little bit more. Bruschetta: 4/5. I needed a little more flavor in this. The bread was also slightly soggy. But otherwise, the tomatoes were fresh! Lasagna: 5/5. This platter was INSANE. I'm still getting used to Canadian portion sizes. This could've fed 2-3 people. It was delicious. The lasagna was finished in the oven, so the top of it was extra crispy (literally the best). Highly recommend this dish! Spaghetti Alla Carbonara: 5/5. I have to order the carbonara if it's on the menu. This one was incredible. The flavors, the consistency, the lightness of it... everything. I was in heaven with every possible bite. One thing I loved about this dish was that it was not heavy like most carbonara's are. I enjoyed every bite! This was also a 1/2 order, which was still massive. Costolette D'Agnello (Rack of Lamb): 5/5. I rarely ever see lamb on the menu at restaurants and was so excited to try this one. IT WAS YUMMY. I got the 1/2 order of this because we were already ordering so much food. Im so glad I did. It came with potato cakes, spinach, asparagus, and the best carrots. Delicious. Not to mention, the lamb was cooked to the perfect temperature. Forget a 5/5, this dish was a 50000/5. Bravo!

We were seated at a table in the inside of the restaurant, which was actually quite warm as the main doors were open, which minimized the coolness from the air conditioner. We were served by a nice middle-aged gentleman, whom provided us with menus upon arriving, giving us ample time to decide. Since we weren't too hungry, we settled on sliced bread with butter (which was $8.00), and a margarita pizza. The bread had a strange burnt taste to it however, with the butter, the burnt taste wasn't as apparent. Also, the amount of seeds on the bread's crust were overwhelming, which made us mostly taste the seeds as opposed to the bread itself. We also found the price much too high for sliced bread; many restaurants provide sliced bread for free however, this restaurant charged an exuberant amount for it. The margarita pizza looked appetizing upon viewing it for the first time however, once we had bitten into it, the cheese on the top was overwhelmingly salty. We were surprised, as margarita pizza usually doesn't have cheese that is that salty. As well, the price for this pizza was $20 +, which once again, we found much too expensive for what we were receiving. Overall, we wouldn't come back to this particular restaurant. Although the service was attentive and the atmosphere was inviting, the food wasn't very good, and it was overpriced. We certainly wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone that is looking for an authentic Italian meal.

However, once we stepped into the restaurant, we knew that it would be a tad pricey. We were the only ones in the restaurant at the time when we arrived therefore, we were given a round table near the window. Once we were seated, we each received a menu, and settled on our items. The restaurant itself was quite fancy, with the servers wearing formal attire, and the table setting/wall decor boasting an expensive flair. Once we had settled on our meals, we were given a basket of nicely warmed bread, with olive oil mixed with vinegar, along with peppers and olives on the side. The bread was amazing, and we were able to ask for seconds. The basket was never full, as we continuously ate what was placed inside of it. It was a great start to the meal! Once our main dishes arrived, we were surprised to see how much food was included. The chicken cutlet was quite large, with my son unable to finish it. It was also tasty, as I had tried a few bites. My daughter's meatball however had a strange spice which didn't sit well with her. As well, the dish that my mother and I had settled on had various pieces of burnt pasta, and it wasn't too appetizing. Since the prices were so high for each of the dishes, we were surprised that the taste wasn't adequate. Since we had such a positive experience with the complimentary bread, we expected the same for the main meal. However, we weren't too pleased with most of the items we had ordered. I have to give kudos to the service at this restaurant, as we were always doted on, from start to finish. We even saw the manager (or owner) come out to greet all of the guests individually. Although this restaurant was on the higher-end, the food just didn't suffice, and wasn't worth the price that we had paid.
