I live really close by but for some reason have never tried Georgie's until recently. I got some takeout for my husband and I to share. I got a Hot Turkey sandwich platter $13.75 and a slice of Donair pizza $4. They sell pizzas by the slice, but they are not displayed so you have to ask them what kinds they have. The day I went, if I remember correctly, they had 4 types: Cheese, Pepperoni, Bacon and Donair. Slices are $4 each or $5 with a can of pop. 2 slices is $8 or $9 with a can of pop, so no discount if you buy more. However, they do have a pickup discount, which is the equivalent amount to the taxes you would pay. So essentially if you pick up, they pay the tax :) The Hot Turkey sandwich platter was really good. It came with fries and coleslaw. I liked that the coleslaw was vinegar based and not mayo based. It was mostly cabbage with a bit of carrot. I enjoyed it. The fries were just regular fries but they were crispy and good. The sandwich had real turkey breast meat in it (can you believe that I once ordered a hot turkey sandwich and it was a deli meat turkey sandwich covered in gravy?!? Obviously not at this restaurant, lol). The bread was the regular white sandwich bread, but what really set this sandwich apart was the delicious peppery gravy. Man, that stuff is really good! The pizza was good too. They put toppings under the cheese here, which is not my preference, but I still enjoyed it. The donair was thick pieces and tasted more like sausage, but it was still good. The sauce has a distinct flavour to it, which I can't pinpoint, but I liked it. The crust was crispy and even though the crust was thicker than I usually like, I still enjoyed it. I liked that the slice came in a cute cardboard box. The platter came in an aluminum container, but the lid was styrofoam. I'm not a fan of styrofoam, I would have preferred a foil-backed cardboard lid. Service was friendly and I got my food pretty quickly. The restaurant is a strip of businesses along Carling Ave just west of Churchill Ave N. There's free parking at the back of the strip. There's a sign and you have to turn in before you actually see the strip of businesses (Georgie's, Sapporo Sushi, and a few other businesses). If you turn into the parking lot after the strip, that one actually belongs to a different strip mall (the one with Markie's Smoked Meat and Mr. Sub). There are signs indicating you can only park there if you are going to a business in that strip mall. Not sure what enforcement is like, but why chance it if there's also free parking in the proper place, right? Since there's a huge median along this part of Carling Ave, you can only access the restaurant if you are driving westbound on Carling. Georgie's has its main entrance on Carling but there's also a back entrance from the parking lot. read more

Simply put...AWESOME PIZZA I have ordered from here a few times and I'm embarrassed to say I neglected to review each time before now, I was typically so hungry I just jumped right in... alas I digress. I have had a few different types of pizzas here, in the end my favourite is the cheese. Yup, straight cheese. Seems basic, but the flavour is outstanding and the dough ball to keep the box from sticking to the cheese is a classically delicious touch. I really like the flavour combinations of the cheese with the sauce puts many other to shame. If you are in this end of the town, give this place a shot, you won't be disappointed. I've been ordering poutines from this plaza pizza place since I was 13 years old. Got me thinking - I've been going to Georgies for coming onTHIRTY FUCKIN YEARS. Always dependable for the late night snack (and probably responsible for my weight gain as a child). Let me tell you about this abomination of a poutine. Don't get excited for a classic, food truck poutine with fresh cut fries and curds. Nope. Frozen fries and mozzarella cheese, but a SUPERB peppery gravy that keeps me coming back every time. The star is actually the pizza - thin crust vegetarian and delicious pepperoni are hallmarks. Excellent sauce and fresh ingredients. Donair subs and super steak subs are also very tasty. My brother and I used to joke how the owner used to mumble 'Georgie's' when he answered the phone and he always sounded like he was saying 'zuhzuh'. Keep mumbling guys - I will always sneak away to that back parking lot for some late night calories as long as your quality stays high! read more

I have been a customer of Georgie's since I moved to Ottawa in 1998. The quality today is just the same as it was almost 25 years ago, and somehow they've managed to keep the prices down as well! My go to has always been their hot subs; notably the super steak (which features fresh cubes of meat) and their donair sub. Their garlic sauce is home made and to die for. Everyone I've introduced to it has been hooked. If you're going to be in the Carling / Churchill area (especially on the way back west from an evening in the market), be sure to call your order in to pickup along the way. I got a craving for a Angelos Picton pizzeria pizza problem is I am in Ottawa. Sourcing out mama and papa's pizza, came across this restaurant. I have to admit this place came close, but it's no PP! Having said that this reviews not about a comparison. George's pizza is pretty good just a tad on the salty side. So if you're craving for something salty get the meat lovers. Every Friday at work we have lunch club and everyone gets a chance to select a place for lunch. Georgie's is a pretty regular choice because of the variety of foods and the quality of food. Their Pizza is really good because the pizza sauce is great. We normally ask for extra sauce and its what I want when I think of Pizza! My personal fav is the Hot Hamburger Sandwich. It's an old standard but it is hard to find a place these days that does it well. Georgie's makes a top notch Hot Hamburger! The staff are also really friendly and very helpful! I moved back to Ottawa after 30 years away about 3 years ago. I have my favorite pizza list tattooed in my brain, but since recent surgery I am immobile and need a delivered pizza. I had always wanted to try Georgie's because of the reviews. So I ordered online. Very impressed with the menu and ingredients, and when my order arrived ( pizza and Georgie's spaghetti) it looked spectacular. My wife served me slice which looked great but tasted different...and I mean like dish soap. Undaunted I went to the pasta...same complaint. My family all had similar taste experiences and to their amazement I didn't have seconds. The next day I was quite ill. I also wanted to give the pizza the day 2 try but II found it had been discarded by my wife who never throws away anything. So basically, although I think the ingredients were stellar and the appearance provocative I cannot join the chorus of other yelpers about this place. Great pizza, and especially amazing sauce. Made in the Quebec style - ball of dough in the middle, lots and lots of cheese. Way better toppings than a normal QC style though, pepperoni that is under the cheese is still crispy and not huge and slimey. Survives a few days too in the fridge and is still tasty. read more

I absolutely love there pizza. it's flavourful and yummy. the only thing that's really grinding my gears, is that they keep forgetting to give me the correct drink. I specifically said i would like some Pepsi throwback, but each time i've ordered it recently they've given me the wrong drink. It's either Pepsi or Coke. I gave them a ring, and the lady on the phone said yes we have 3 Pepsi throwback, but when i rang back it was a totally different situation. She marked down Coke. I really don't how they could confuse throwback for coke. There pizza is happiness on a, plate. You know explaining the same situation to one person that is bad at hearing english, and then talking to the manager knowing he knew what i was talking about,to then being transfered to some other guy, that was like it clearly says coke. I lived on Lyon/Gloucester and they didnt deliver there, but I recently moved closer to Westboro and they deliver there. The crust is great, love the sauce too. I am so disappointed , I ordered a steak sandwich and a pizza, the pizza came cold and dry, and the steak sandwich was the least I can say horrible. The meat in the steak sandwich was not cut in thin strips as normally it would be, it was a thick diced meat with I a strange spice. I was confused what was worse, the thick meat or the old bread that was falling apart. It was so bad I threw away the sub and skipped dinner. My favorite pizza place to order from in Westboro. Fresh ingredients, clean restaurant, and reasonable prices. Delivery is always within 40 min. Feels much better supporting local as opposed to going for Boston Pizza down the road. I love how they don't put the sauce on the wings so you can dress them how you like.
