Thick style pizza and friendly service! I finally tried their pizza and can't wait to go back. It was exactly what I was craving. I got their cheese pizza and it came out about 10 minutes after ordering. I was pleasantly surprised as they were pretty full for inside dining. Their pizzas are loaded with cheese, with a dough and crust that can hold it. Although you have to cut the first few bites to be able to eat it, eventually it can be lifted! I also found that they put enough sauce, unlike other places, and it can definitely be tasted and meshes well with the many layers of cheese. I also found their pizzas to be quite unique. Their top layer of cheese gets crispy causing a nice crunch between the top and bottom layer of the overall pizza, leaving the rest of it to ooze slightly. My boyfriend ordered a personalized pizza and I ordered shrimp Alfredo. The personalized pizza was made just the way my boyfriend prefers it with the cheese on top of the toppings. The pizza was made to perfection and he absolutely inhaled his meal. He said that this was the best pizza he has ever had. The pasta I ordered was a huge portion. This place just knows what they're doing. The toppings are under the cheese which stops them from drying out and the cheese gets this almost crispy layer to it. It all tastes fantastic, but their crust is something else. I don't know what it is that makes their dough so tasty but that shit is killer. There's almost a sweetness to it. Not like it's super sweet or anything, but they found some way to knock that dough outta the park. I'm ordering this tomorrow just from writing this review now. I love pizza so I'll eat pizza anywhere but I really appreciate GOOD pizza. And I can totally attest that colonnade makes one of the best pizzas Ottawa. Their pizza is thick, very generous on cheese and toppings and good quality. It's very filling and makes for a really good meal. Depending on your appetite, I'd say in general I've never been able to eat more than 2 slices out of a large pizza. Usually, between two people if you get a large( the price difference between medium and large is only 3$ so obviously I have to get a large) , you'll have plenty left over for the next day. And trust me, it taste amazing the next day too. The restaurant itself has really cute old school diner vibes. The service is always excellent. Their beer is also pretty decently priced. The pizza itself is on the higher end of price for pizzas, but it's worth it. My personal favourites are Santa Fe and Mediterranean. On a large, you can do half and half of different kinds depending on the type of pizza. Ohhh and their deserts are also so good! Coconut cream pie!! And they're pretty cheap and very large serving. I love colonnades and recommend it to everyone. One bad (but maybe good) thing is that it's only open till 9pm. Oh and their garlic sauce is also great! read more

Unreal pizza that is a staple in Ottawa. Service was fast. The ambiance is just what you would expect.

I met up with a friend after work. This little gem sits in a residential part of Ottawa. My friend had the meats lovers pizza and I had the Colonnade special pizza. All pizzas are deep dish with a significant layer of golden cheese on top. The toppings are generous regardless of the size of pizza and all pizzas can be customised with a swapping of a topping for something else without incurring any further cost. Both of us enjoyed our pizzas. After which we had a dessert. We both had a banana cream pie. The pie concept was literally under a more than generous amount of whipped cream - I did wish the cream had been fresh vs. canned. Under which there was a layer of sliced bananas on top of a layer of banana cream with a graham cracker crumble base. It will admit I did find the "pie" tasty I just wished there had been a little less cream topping. The wait staff were friendly and quick to attend to any need. I will give it another try and sample some of the other menu items for an more expansive review. read more

In late December 2023, I did a large take-out order at Colonnade Pizza. The bill was about $10.00 more than I had anticipated, even when factoring in the taxes (HST). Thinking that I may have been inadvertently overcharged, I phoned Colonnade Pizza. The person who answered their telephone gave me all of the prices for the menu items, which I had just recently ordered. Upon comparing the prices to Colonnade Pizza's website, I eventually found the discrepancy. Food and beverage prices at Colonnade Pizza restaurants have increased, but their website (presently) has outdated prices. If you're using the Colonnade Pizza website to plan your food order, be prepared to pay an extra 15% - 20% over the prices that are listed on it. For instance, chicken wings on the website menu are priced at $12.95 for 10. Whereas, I was charged $14.95 for 10 chicken wings. All Colonnade Pizza locations use the same excellent recipes and ingredients for their pizza. Unfortunately. I have found if you order only a pizza, it's below standard for what they usually serve to customers. If you buy other meal items, such as: an appetizer, salad or beverages with your pizza, it's much higher quality and tastes better. Leaving lower outdated prices on Colonnade Pizza's website is both deceptive and dishonest to their customers. Although Colonnade Pizza has the best quality pizza in Ottawa, I would have given five stars if the restaurant prices had matched their website. read more

A lot of people rave about this place but honestly it's not that great. With the limited options in Ottawa I understand the love for this place but it doesn't hold up to good pizza in other cities. It's not even the best place in town in my opinion. The first time I tried it I thought wow that's not bad but I think it was different more than anything. The second visit I realized how greasy the pizza is and not in a positive way! Yes there is good greasy pizza...go to Buffalo and you'll know. The pizza is ok but for the price there are better options. This place is still much better than what I call the Ottawa style pizza, pie halfway to a Chicago deep dish that has half cooked crust and way to much string cheese. Terrible service but the worst news is this location on Merivale Road is ruining the great reputation the original downtown Colonnade Pizza used to have. When I reported an order I called in was incorrect I was spoken to so rudely i was shocked. When I called back to report it to the manager I was told by the same woman she was the manager and the owner. Impossible to believe from the way she spoke. But the worst part was the quality of the pizza. It was soggy, undercooked and contained poor quality ingredients. I had noticed the quality was slipping but this was a game changer and want anyone who reads this to not be fooled by the great Colonnade name. The pizza was BRILLIANT as always! The problem was the service - someone called Mona. I went recently, just before the new lockdown. It's an old neighbourhood favourite. I went to meet a friend visiting from out of town. Of course, we were very nervous because of the pandemic. Apparently Mona doesn't know we're in a pandemic, and to keep her distance. She kept coming to our table, well within the safe distance of 6' or 2 metres, for frankly, no reason at all except to stare at me and my companion. She told not only us, but the people sitting at the only other occupied table, that it was "ok to take off our masks. Otherwise how're you gonna eat?" What she didn't seem to grasp at all is that the reason so much transmission happens in restaurants is the long periods of time people are in close proximity and NOT wearing masks. While I understand her enthusiasm, hovering over restaurant clients dining indoors during a pandemic is not the way to reassure them and get them to come back. Perhaps try leaving them alone? On top of it, she was staring at me and my companion because I was sitting quite far back from her (I work with the public and am exposed to lots of people all the time.). She kept talking and laughing at us, in another language, while she stared at us. It was incredibly rude. The waitress seemed to get that we didn't want Mona hovering over us - she winked at us a couple of times - but nothing was done to stop Mona. Perhaps Colonnade management can have a chat with Mona and explain that people don't want to be made sick by an overzealous maitre d. How sad is that!?!? The pizza had its high points and low points. Good crust, the toppings were both fresh and fantastic, but the something about the sauce or bread just had an off, vaguely bitter hint to it. It was a bit soggy and greasy, too, but at least it wasn't burnt and crispy? EIther way, I shouldn't have to justify pizza like that. Thin crispy crust and cheese. That's right crispy cheese! I usually get meat lovers but if it's a pizza you want I can't see how any of them could be a bad choice. This is the only place I've seen where you sometimes have 3-4 pepperonis stacked on top of each other(pics to follow). The meat lovers has full chunks of sausage and thick crispy well cooked bacon. If you like the "bigger better pizza" maybe this isn't your jam. They actually cook their crust here, and the cheese is on top to hold it all down. So many places can make a decent pie but very few are as consistent from location to location, especially for this long. I don't dine in often but if you're looking for the warm and fuzzies from your server this probably isn't the spot. They do good food and they know it. read more

I found this place to be pretty good pizza for the money. Not amazing, but a more "Montreal style" pizza than anything else I can think to compare it to. The "small pizza" is just right for me, an "individual" would have been to small. The large looked big enough to share for about 2-3 people depending on the eaters. So for $15 I was satisfied. The onion rings were quite nice as well... someone at the table ordered them and quite enjoyable. Perhaps could be split by 2 and are only about $4. Before going I was told "This is THE pizza place to go to in Ottawa." Though when asking people's opinions of it, people were rare to say that it was "good" but rather just "the place to go." Trust me - the sauce isn't why you go to this joint, but it's not offensive in any way - just takes the back seat. SAUCE AMOUNT: They are light-to-medium-handed on the sauce. You can request a specific amount if you want (light/heavy). CHEESE FLAVOUR: It's real. It's got that REAL cheese tang - I think it must be a mozza-cheddar blend or something. But it's very rich, very flavourful, just salty, creamy awesome! CHEESE AMOUNT: Totally ridiculous. I've been visiting this restaurant for about 15 years and it is consistently good with quality pizza that has an absolutely stunning crust. Service is good. On a busy weekend night one would wait a bit longer than at lunch on a Tuesday, but that's to be expected. The chefs can be observed expertly and swiftly putting together pizzas in the open kitchen. Dining area is spacious with tables placed sufficiently apart. In the summer you can sit outside. Decor is tasteful and simple, with a Mediterranean theme. The pizza is very good, definitely the best I've ever had. It has a delicious thick crust, that is absolutely stunning in it's crispiness. I usually order one with pepperoni, mushrooms and hot peppers and it consistently delivers. A bit heavy on the cheese, and it could be a turnoff for some, so if you like dry, thin-crust pizza you may not like this one as much. One complaint I have is how heavy it is on the salt, but then this is the problem I've seen in most restaurants. I must say that I've never actually tasted their other Italian dishes or salads, because their pizza is so good there is no reason. However if you aren't too much into pizza and you're invited to Colonnade you can always opt for something else. Price is above average, but actually this pizza is well worth it, and given today's prices any pizza that's much worse will cost you only slightly less. Colonnade has some of the best tasting pizza in Centertown, maybe in all of Ottawa. It is also one of the more expensive options with a large, 15 inch pizza, costing between $20-30 depending on toppings. The ingredients taste fresh, with none of the chemically taste that you get at Pizza Pizza. The cheese is plentiful and the crust is crisp. My biggest complaints about the pizza is that it's very heavy and greasy. Depending on the toppings, the pizza ranges from slightly greasy to artery clogging. If you are really hungry, or slightly drunk, this is awesome and wonderful: if you're looking for a light pizza before a night out on the town you might want to look elsewhere. In addition to take-out they also have a huge eat-in section. Be aware the pizzas cost a few bucks more if you dine in. Colonnade is well known and well loved in town so expect a wait if you order on the weekend. Been going off-and-on for 5-10 years now :) Understand it is not prepared in your typical fashion: thick flavourful crust, mountains of cheese, and generous portions of toppings. She has since sworn off Gabriel's pizza and comes all the way from Aylmer, Quebec to eat at their downtown location. They have a good meat pizza and the Mediterranean is also quite tasty. Sorry, but I have to give this place a single star. I have a son in a wheelchair. We were in Ottawa for an appointment at CHEO. Needing to go get some dinner, we heard about this place. Called to ask if it was wheelchair accessible. I was told it was. It wasn't! There was no automatic door operators. My son needed to use the washroom. The men's washroom had two stalls, none of which could accommodate a wheelchair! So, how exactly was this place wheelchair accessible? The food was average, but, on the pricier side.
