And the pizza is great. I posted on Twitter about it and someone commented that if I haven't tried the pizza with gravy, I'm an amateur. And someone on Facebook mentioned the gravy too. So I'm definitely going to have to try that next time. Last night after covering the media night at the opening of for wheelies rollerskating rink, I told the Uber to take me right to House of Georgie and I sat there and had a couple of pepperoni slices while watching videos on my phone. Oh, and last time I was there, two different dogs strolled right in at separate times and wanted meat. The owner apparently feeds them. It's so cute.

It's really delicious! My only criticism with this place is that one day I got a slice, and it was old and not warm enough. The owner was not receptive to my complaint. This is without a doubt the best pizza dining experience in Ottawa!…read more This evening was my second visit and I'm glad I decided to go again. I enjoyed the Wild Boar pizza with hot honey dipping sauce and a local craft beer (Pilsner). It was so delicious. I've never had wild boar and I was extremely impressed with what these pizza masters did with it! Food: Fun, new, delicious and excellent/authentic presentation Atmosphere: warm, inviting and a vibrant feeling of complete acceptance Service: wonderful, professional, attentive and passionate about their craft I rate this restaurant 5-stars and it is well earned. I will definitely be returning and telling everyone about it. Personal note: being a man that deals with anxiety in crowds I don't usually go to too many places as I get overwhelmed. There were roughly 12 other diners which I thought would be too much. However, the young woman who served me was so very kind and personable that she alone made me feel safe and comfortable. She began a small conversation with me (because I was sitting barside) and I immediately felt welcomed and my anxiety was gone. She is the first stranger to ever make me feel this way. I won't put her name online but I want to say thank you to the blue eyed, dark haired absolutely stunning both inside and out young woman. I thought she was the owner but I was wrong. She seemed so in tune with her associates and the clientele. I fear that when I go next time I may just have to propose to her. lol. Thank you Tennessy Willems. You are definitely the best restaurant in Ottawa!

I got a Hot Turkey sandwich platter $13.75 and a slice of Donair pizza $4. They sell pizzas by the slice, but they are not displayed so you have to ask them what kinds they have. The day I went, if I remember correctly, they had 4 types: Cheese, Pepperoni, Bacon and Donair. Slices are $4 each or $5 with a can of pop. 2 slices is $8 or $9 with a can of pop, so no discount if you buy more. However, they do have a pickup discount, which is the equivalent amount to the taxes you would pay. So essentially if you pick up, they pay the tax :) The Hot Turkey sandwich platter was really good. It came with fries and coleslaw. I liked that the coleslaw was vinegar based and not mayo based. It was mostly cabbage with a bit of carrot. I enjoyed it. The fries were just regular fries but they were crispy and good. The sandwich had real turkey breast meat in it (can you believe that I once ordered a hot turkey sandwich and it was a deli meat turkey sandwich covered in gravy?!? Obviously not at this restaurant, lol). The bread was the regular white sandwich bread, but what really set this sandwich apart was the delicious peppery gravy. Man, that stuff is really good! The pizza was good too. They put toppings under the cheese here, which is not my preference, but I still enjoyed it. The donair was thick pieces and tasted more like sausage, but it was still good. The sauce has a distinct flavour to it, which I can't pinpoint, but I liked it. The crust was crispy and even though the crust was thicker than I usually like, I still enjoyed it. I liked that the slice came in a cute cardboard box. The platter came in an aluminum container, but the lid was styrofoam. I'm not a fan of styrofoam, I would have preferred a foil-backed cardboard lid. Service was friendly and I got my food pretty quickly. The restaurant is a strip of businesses along Carling Ave just west of Churchill Ave N. There's free parking at the back of the strip. There's a sign and you have to turn in before you actually see the strip of businesses (Georgie's, Sapporo Sushi, and a few other businesses). If you turn into the parking lot after the strip, that one actually belongs to a different strip mall (the one with Markie's Smoked Meat and Mr. Sub). There are signs indicating you can only park there if you are going to a business in that strip mall. Not sure what enforcement is like, but why chance it if there's also free parking in the proper place, right? Since there's a huge median along this part of Carling Ave, you can only access the restaurant if you are driving westbound on Carling. Georgie's has its main entrance on Carling but there's also a back entrance from the parking lot.

I have had a few different types of pizzas here, in the end my favourite is the cheese. Yup, straight cheese. Seems basic, but the flavour is outstanding and the dough ball to keep the box from sticking to the cheese is a classically delicious touch. I really like the flavour combinations of the cheese with the sauce puts many other to shame. If you are in this end of the town, give this place a shot, you won't be disappointed. I'll be back for sure.
