I hit up Roberto's Corner probably four times a week, and it's honestly because their sandwiches are gas every single time. The portions are huge, the bread is always fresh, and they stack the toppings like they actually care about feeding you. The staff is chill, quick, and they always get the order right. No matter what I grab -- cold cut, chicken, whatever -- it always slaps. You can't beat the value and consistency. Came here intending to get 3 sandwiches, at 5:15pm There were 8 staff so it should have been easy to get an order in but I was there 20 minutes before I was able to get to put an order in, so we had to only get 1 sandwich because this took way too long. So one person got their sandwich, I didn't get one because of the lack of service. Had to leave to get somewhere for 6, so didn't expect to take so long that I couldn't order. I think 6 people who came after us, ordered ahead of us. So this was definitely terrible service that basically ruined the order, maybe their sandwiches are great, I didn't get to try them because of the horrible service. They could have made an effort.... This was really on them Zero stars for the ambience at the back of a quickie zero stars for service I might still end up coming back, but this was not a good experience. read more

Sitting on the grassy knoll right across from Roberto's Corner right now eating my meatball sub. I've found a great new sandwich place in the MacEwen plaza. Great Italian bun with a wide choice of meats and toppings. Very friendly service. I will be back. (And all at reasonable prices). read more

Big fan! We were heading home from the Science and Tech Museum and when I looked up places nearby to grab something to eat to-go, I found Roberto's Corner. It's definitely a hidden gem - it's inside the Quickie at the Ultramar gas station. You can smell the food right when you open the door and WOW it smelled so good. They had just come out with fresh bread when I walked in, too. There were so many choices (I wanted all of them) and I didn't know what to order, but thankfully there was a couple in front of me who seemed to know what they were doing and I followed suit. I ordered the Roberto's Italian Trio sandwich (spicy version), the porchetta sandwich on special, and I couldn't leave without dessert, so I got an eclair and tiramisu from the fridge. To be honest, I don't remember exactly what I ordered for the sandwiches because there were so many toppings and sauces that whenever they asked me, I basically just said yes lol. I also asked for their suggestions and just said yes to those, too. I really don't think you could go wrong with any of it. Both sandwiches were delicious, but I was more in the mood for deli meat, so I enjoyed the Italian Trio more. Well made, good portions, friendly and patient service. For the dessert, the tiramisu was strong in terms of coffee flavour, which I liked, though I was surprised they were served in glass containers to-go (more overhead cost, I assume?). The eclair was good as well. I'll get a cannolo next time! We will absolutely be back, but it'll be hard to top the Italian Trio, so I'd like to try other sandwiches, but I might also get the Italian Trio, anyway, haha. read more

The tray fell on the floor they told me x2! I ordered a dozen fruit tarts twice & they called me 2x to tell me on seperate occasions that the whole fruit tray had fallen on the floor. How dumb to they effen think we are??? Thanks to that we've never been back & won't! Too bad. We used to go there a few times a week. But when they show you such disrespect what do they want. lol read more

Roberto's Corner is another hidden gem I recently discovered. It's tucked inside the Quickie Mart at the Ultramar gas station on St. Laurent at Pleasant Park. It's an Italian deli. The space used to be a Subway Sandwiches. I got "The Ultimate Sandwich" which is a roast beef sandwich with whatever toppings you choose. You also get to choose your bread. I was really debating between the olive bread and jalapeno cheddar bread and eventually decided on the latter. I got cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, spicy eggplant and roasted red peppers, with a bit of mustard. I got it toasted. It was $6.99 before taxes. The sandwich was delicious! It was so flavourful. My only complaint is that the sandwich was a little too wet for my liking. I think the roasted red peppers contributed to this as they are soaked in oil. I might skip those in the future and/or hold the mustard. Nonetheless, it was an enjoyable, albeit messy sandwich. I got it to go and it was wrapped in paper. I'm glad that I also put it in a bag because by the time I got home the liquids from the sandwich had soaked through the paper, and the bag was actually wet. I was served by Roberto himself and he was very courteous and efficient. They also sell gelato!! I didn't get any this visit, but maybe on a future visit. There's a table with 3-4 chairs right up against the side of the counter if you'd like to eat there, but you'd be eating inside a convenience store at a gas station, lol. I'm pretty sure that most of their business is takeout. I always prefer small independent businesses to chains, and I have a soft spot in my heart for food vendors who bravely set up shop in less glamourous places, like inside gas stations and in run down malls. Next time you're in the area and craving a sandwich, why not give Roberto's Corner a try? There's lots of free parking. read more

Possibly the best subs in Ottawa. This little italian sandwich shop is tucked into the back of the store for the gas station, so it can be a bit hard to spot. The owners are wonderful as is the staff and the subs are full of flavour. Yum. It's become a bit of a habit for our household. Would I recommend? Yes Would I return? Customer service wasn't great. There seems to be people in the back chatting and joking. Not very friendly except for the girl at the cash. The food was not good. I had suspicions it wasn't very fresh. The taste confirmed it. I ordered 3 sandwiches. The chicken parm was the worst one. Poor flavour, lukewarm and didn't taste fresh at all. Dry and rubbery. I gave it a chance but I won't be returning. There are better Italian sandwich shops in this city. read more

I heard good things so I had to try it. I ordered the chicken parm. It was decent, but the chicken was rather low quality (like buying cutlets from a wholesaler). It reheated from frozen in the microwave, so it was dry and tough to bite thru. The red peppers and spicy eggplant on it was tasty. I'll have to try a different sandwich to see if it lives up to the hype. read more

Roberto's Corner took over Subway spot in the Quickie at the corner of St. Laurent Blvd. and Pleasant Park Dr. over a year ago. Robbie, the Roberto in question, serves up great Italian sandwiches with generous portions. The menu lists a range of sandwiches including a juicy, tender chicken parmigiana, Italian trio, meatball sub, and Robbie's famous egg salad among at least ten other packed sandwiches on your choice of bread. The shop also offers a fridge of homemade takeaway meals, such as chili, lasagna, mac & cheese, all homemade and delicious along with salads and home-baked desserts. Prices are all reasonable with a sandwich combo of sandwich and pop for $7.99, and with the addition of soup or chips added for $9.99. Roberto's corner is worth a trip. read more
