Haven't taken the time to try the onsite food. However the bagels are excellent. The service and the freshness of buying local is all for me. We stopped in here as we had a tournament at Algonquin College. OMG! Definitely one of the best bagels I have had in a while. We had the egg sandwich and the breakfast sandwich (egg, bacon, cheese). They were delicious. We also had coffee, they serve lavazza coffee. I had the medium roast and it was great. The staff are friendly and the space was clean. We went on a Sunday morning and it was busy but not packed as it looks like a lot of people take-out from here. They also sell other items that we didn't grab - smoked salmon, various dips, cookies and other pastries. Will definitely be on a look-out for kettlemans in the future. read more

Loved this bagel place! It came recommended by a friend and It didn't disappoint. We walked in and grabbed some popcorn and chips to go. I love that there's some snacks to grab and go. Ordering was too easy and the staff was super nice. I got a bagel with butter. It was fairly quick. But I enjoyed watching the bagels come out of the oven anyways. I was amazed. This place is open 24 hours a day and we enjoyed our visit. We felt safe and would totally go back. read more

As per their website, they use a recipe dated back to Krakow, Poland from 1610. Not sure why they call them Montreal-style if the recipe is from Poland, but they haven't changed their recipe since 1993 and have pledged to never change it. They're hand-rolled in-store (I do miss seeing this part in person), boiled in honey water, and wood-fired. They have a crispy outside, chewy texture inside - just as I remember, even day-old! It's been awhile since I've had Kettleman's, so I was really happy to hear that my in-laws had picked up a bag of day-old bagels. They were cheaper because they weren't freshly made, but I didn't mind - nothing a good toasting couldn't fix! They usually have seasonal bagels, which I actually haven't had before, so I chose a green St. Patrick's Day bagel just because. It's actually just a plain bagel, no special flavour, but the colour seems to throw some people off, like my husband haha. I always crave a good everything bagel, but the plain was great toasted with butter and cream cheese. I do wish I had some of their seasonal Irish Cream cream cheese to try, though. I've bought their chive cream cheese and dill pickle cream cheeses from Burrow Shop as well. They're not cheap, but nice as a treat. Of course, the chive one is delicious, but don't sleep on the dill pickle. It is ADDICTIVE, especially on crackers. Not sure if Kettleman's has bagel chips, but if they don't they really need to get on that, stat! read more

So Kettleman's is the closest to Montreal-style bagels you can get in Ottawa. I lived in Montreal for 7 years and let me tell you, nothing compares to Fairmount Bagel or St. Viateur Bagel, lol, but Kettleman's will do when I can't go to Montreal. Kettleman's churns out bagels 24/7/365. And they are heavenly when they are fresh from the oven. So Kettleman's originated here in Ottawa. Their original location is on Bank Street in The Glebe. Then they opened this location in College Square in September of 2016. Then another location in Trainyards in February 2017. There was a Kettleman's at Woodroffe and Carling at one point, which existed before the College Square and Trainyards locations but that store has since become a Cadmans Bagel. Kettleman's has recently opened up a branch in Etobicoke if my GTA friends are interested ;) This location is good. It's modern looking, and similar to the store at Trainyards. If you're craving some Montreal-style bagels and you're stuck in Ottawa, I would recommend giving Kettleman's a try. This location has lots of free parking in the College Square parking lot. read more

By far my favourite bagel place! They're bagels are so good, both at home with butter or cream cheese or in store as a sandwich. The cream cheese they make in house is good, but I wouldn't say it's better than Philadelphia so for the price I won't get it again. The actual store is very cool, has a contemporary industrial vibe going. Their staff is usually really nice and fast. 10/10 definitely recommend trying this place! Bonus: The LGBT (lettuce guacamole bacon tomato) sandwich is by far my favourite sandwich on the menu, you can't go wrong with it! read more

Kettleman's College Square offers freshly made bagels, bagel sandwiches, bagel spreads, bagel toppings and lots of traditional, Eastern European Jewish ready made items such as knishes, latkes and other deli offerings. Kettleman's does offer a few vegan items, but I'd say the menu doesn't really cater to them as there are probably a handful of options. I haven't stayed for in person dining, so I can't comment on the bathrooms, but the store itself is accessible. I picked up a dozen bagels - 3 different kinds: pumpernickel, poppy seeds, and sesame seeds. They were all delicious! And I topped it off with a pretzel. Boy are these ever good! BIG, and a bit salty, but very tasty. This outlet has seating so you can eat in the restaurant, or you can buy to go. They offer refrigerated foods, such as Lox, cream cheese, a variety of cold drinks. Good food, and good service. I will certainly be back. read more

How could I not award 5 stars to this great place, that has turned into an Ottawa institution? Open 24 hours, they accept cards now. I remember when it was cash only. Who uses cash anymore? The bagels are always fresh, and the cream cheese selection is always plentiful. There's a rack at the front of the store that has day-old goods at REALLY good prices. Great for stocking up the freezer full of carbs. But, you gotta be quick, as people snap these up faster than you can blink. Except the raisin bagels, ugh, not my favorite, but that's personal taste on my part. Gimme a dozen poppy, and a pack of cream cheese, and I'm good for a week or so. read more

If you're in Ottawa and haven't been to Kettleman's, I feel bad for you son. I've got 99 problems but a bagel ain't one! All jokes aside, KBC has been a local favourite for...FOREVER now. Ever since their doors have opened, they have not close (literally) since they are 24/7!!! One of my close friends and girlfriend introduced me to KBC and every time I'm in town I grab myself a breakfast bagel on sesame! Their breakfast bagel includes egg, cheese and a generous amount of bacon in between a fresh bagel from the oven. Their breakfast bagel is like no other along with their sesame seed bagels. Their sesame seed bagels are so popular that they are shipped out to numerous local retailers to be sold. One cool thing about Kettleman's is that you get to watch them roll and stretch the dough and form the bagels right in front of you before they put into their huge oven with long paddle boards. The only con is that there isn't one in Toronto.... yet Unfortunately I never take pictures of the food because I eat it instantly. The interior pictures of this location is attached to this review. My absolutely favorite place to go for bagels. The bagels are always made fresh and are delicious. Excellent service. They didn't have any fresh all-dressed bagels today and I didn't feel like waiting for them to make a new batch, so I asked them to just give me more of the other types and the server gave me an extra bagel for the inconvenience. read more

Took my family of two adults and three kids here for breakfast. Ample parking outside as it is located in a large outdoor mall. Plenty of seating outside and you can see them making the fresh bagels. The man rolling out the bagel rings even gave my kids some dough to play with while we waited for our meal. We ordered a breakfast combo, a bagel dog, and a CBC Melt. The breakfast combo is a bagel with egg and bacon that comes with a potato latkes (like a hash brown) and a coffee or juice. The bagel sandwich is delicious and the coffee is brewed using Illy beans which was decent and unlimited. I would pass on the combo next time because the latkes was way too salty and overcooked. The bagel dog is a hotdog wrapped in with bagel dough and the kids enjoyed it. The CBC Melt is a bagel with a seasoned chicken breast and melted cheese. Another delicious sandwich but maybe a bit too heavy for breakfast. Breakfast aside, this is by far my favourite place is Ottawa to get Montreal style bagels with many locations throughout the city. read more

My wife and I Iike Kettleman's, and have visited the Bank St. location numerous times. That one gets a 4.5 star. However, although we like the College Square store, both in terms of it being closer to our home and the layout, our BIG complaint is that it constantly gets orders wrong. In fact, of the dozen or so times we've been there, they've only got our orders correct maybe have the time. I've noticed other customers bringing their food back because mistakes were made. Depending on how much the kitchen staff screw up, we sometimes don't bother complaining, such as today at noon. It's NOT the cashiers who make errors. They're actually great. They ALWAYS get it right, since we check the order slips. It's the kitchen staff who obviously don't care. This is clearly a management issue. Hiring, training and supervision are obviously lacking at the College Square store. We've only had one instance of a mistake being made at the Bank St. location, and we've been there over 30 times. If Kettleman's owners and management read reviews, then they should pay attention to this one. read more

Bad service and possibly a health issue Went to Kettleman's this morning early and for no reason there was a line up. There was a woman at the cash with a small child sitting on the counter with the cashier person and her playing on the cell phone and chatting. The child could potentially be putting E.coli bacteria on the surface where one is served food. There was another young lady behind the counter that was busy adjusting her clothing and showing her very flat belly instead of serving those in line. There is not reason for the service being this bad as it appears they had staff on. Management issue ??? I am going to avoid this place in future. read more

Improper mask use, service much slower. We love Kettlemans! However the speed of service has gone down immensely since they started using Uber eats. We're able to get past that and wait a bit longer for our food because we love it so much, however I was very disappointed with the staff this morning. There were 2 gentleman making bagels and one of them kept pulling his mask up above his nose and going back to the dough without washing his hands. He did this at least 8-10 times in the just over 5 mins we waited for our food. Even worse, the staff member behind these two who was working at the oven had his mask way below his nose for quite awhile and only pulled it up when I took a photo!! This is unacceptable, especially coming from healthcare, I know you must always wash your hands after you touch your mask and if these kettlemans branded masks keep going below the nose then maybe they should change them to ones that work properly? This is not my first run in at kettlemans with improper mask wearing. We are very disappointed, and we will be re-evaluating our need to go to kettlemans now and in the future even post pandemic. read more

The bagels are made fresh and it was toasted to perfection, the sauce some sort of mayonnaise was surprisingly light and delicious. To begin, I'll start with the bagels. They're not really all that good. Especially for how much you pay for them. A bagel from loblaws tastes exceptionally better. They do have these pepperoni sticks, and they are delicious. The two stars is for the atmosphere in the place. You're able to sit and do work without a problem. However it is pretty busy so if you can't work in loud places, this isn't the spot to go. They do have free wifi which is great. Final thoughts, for the food, it isn't worth it at all. Won't be returning unless I get a sudden craving for a pepperoni stick and want to break the bank. read more

Whenever I am in town and I have the time I would always make my way to Kettleman's. I was exteemly thrilled when they opened up a location that was close to my parents' home. I just love their freshly made bagels (all made in-house). Last time I was here D and I decided to grab breakfast here before we headed back to Toronto. I ordered a breakfast bagel and D order the bagel with liver (this is their liver bagel sandwich). It was really good! My only regret was not buying a bag of bagels to take home because by the time we were finished with our breakfast the lineup was really long and we didn't have enough time to wait in line again. I also had coffee with my breakfast bagel. The coffee they use is Illy's coffee. I can't wait for my next visit and next time I am going to make sure I get a bag of bagels (or two) to go - I will remember to just get it when I am placing my order so then I wouldn't have to worry anout standing in line again. Quality, Fresh Food. Service with a smile. This place is excellent as they freshly cook the bagels in front of your eyes, as they do in Montreal. The cashiers were friendly and welcoming. The bagels were sweet and smoky, but I guess I showed up at the wrong time as a fresh batch was still cooking, so the bagels that I got weren't warm. Price-wise, it's about $10 (including tax) for a dozen bagels, which is fairly reasonable. The place is very convenient as it's right next to Algonquin College and it's open 24 hours (as is with many stores in College Square). I would recommend the bagels and sandwiches at Kettlemans in College Square to anyone, they are freshly prepared and cooked in house and in fact one can watch them do just that from start to finish! The bagels are so delicious, moist and chewy on inside and just right in regards to their oven baked firmness on outside. The sandwich ingredients are also of high quality, with many made in house. I would also recommend purchasing the in house made cream cheese to use on your take home bagels that I am sure you are going to buy for home consumption. The restaurant is very well taken care of and aesthetically pleasing to dine in. I would though caution people in that once one eats a real bagel such as those from Kettlemans, one will never be able to eat the cardboard tasting excuses for bagels that are made commercially and sold in most grocery stores and coffee chains. read more

Best bagels in Ottawa!!! Our family loves this place. There's nothing like bringing home a bag of fresh warm bagels, right from their wood fired oven. Sometimes, we buy 2 dozen because they disappear so fast. They supply small bags that fit 6 bagels perfectly. My husband slices and freezes the remaining bagels so we can toast them for breakfast days later, and they're still fresh! read more
