    crispy taco salad with chicken
    Céilí M.

Super yummy! Went in today for a late lunch, ordered the taco salad with added chicken and it was delightful. Tons of fresh greens and veggies, and yummy dressing. Would have liked a little more chicken for the up-charge, or even smaller bits of chicken so you could have some in each bite. Either way delicious and I will definitely be back for pizza and burritos!

The place is cute and the ambiance is nice. The menu has a wide variety (vegetarian & non vegetarian options available). We ordered the following: Samsosa (generously stuffed & fulfilling) Aloo Gobi (cauliflower & potatoes cooked in tomatoes and Indian spices) Chicken Biryani (the rice was spot on) 4 Combos E: A choice of non vegetarian curry, rice, naan & pop 1- Chicken vindaloo 2- Chicken coconut curry 3- Lamb korma 4- Chicken korma All of the 4 combos above were superb, the flavors on each dish were absolutely delicious, their naan bread is soooo good. Their portions are generous. The food came fast. If you like spicy food, I recommend this place. The price range per person is $20 Parking space available.

I ordered Butter Chicken, Garlic Naan, Coconut Rice and a Mango Lassi. I placed my order 45min before I wanted to pick up and it wasn't ready until the hour mark because they were so busy on a Friday night. That was completely understandable though with dining-in customers plus take out ones and the food delivery orders coming in. The staff was very apologetic for the delay. I can't really speak much to the ambiance of the restaurant since I didn't eat in, but from what I could see, the place looked cozy and nice. I found that the butter chicken was good but not the best that I have had. I would have liked if the sauce was a bit thicker and creamier, but I was happy with the amount of chicken in it for the price. I chose the mild spiciness level and was content with it. I loved the coconut rice and I was glad that I decided to order it because I was going back and forth on it. The sweetness of the coconut was nice. I really liked the garlic naan and the portion size was great. It was delicious and very fresh. The mango lassi was also very good - creamy and refreshing to balance out the spiciness of the butter chicken. I will definitely eat here again in the future. I think I will try their goat curry next as that's a dish that I find harder to come across. The prices were reasonable too given the portion size and quality!

So imagine McDonald's and Burger King got together had a baby and that baby grew up and became a vegan. That baby is Odd Burger. They serve burgers, nuggets, breakfast sandwiches, fries, onion rings, tater tots, poutine and milkshakes, and everything is vegan. The taste is very much fast food. The service and ambiance is also fast food style. My husband and I each got a BacUn Famous Melt Combo. In-store the price is $15.48, but it was $17.03 BOGO (buy one get one free) on UberEats, so I ordered it on the app for pick-up. The combo comes with fries. You can upgrade to tater tots, onion rings, poutine or lots of other options. I love that for your drink you can get a juice, coffee or tea for no extra charge. Most places only offer soft drinks and anything else is extra. You can upgrade to a milkshake for more money. We just got fries and orange juice. For our burger we had the choice of their regular smash patty or chickpea patty. We chose the former. The smash burger is made of wheat and soy protein, flax seeds, onions and nutritional yeast. The BacUn is made of oats, chickpeas and wheat gluten. It comes with vegan cheese, lettuce, onions, pickles and their special sauce (which tastes a bit like McDonald's Big Mac sauce). The burger comes with a sesame seed bun, but the sesame seeds are only on the top bun, so I gave my husband my top bun and he gave me his bottom bun, so it worked out for me and I didn't have to eat it bunless, lol. The burger itself was ok. The taste was very fast food-like. It didn't taste like meat but I appreciated it for what it was. I want to try the chickpea patty next time. The fries were thick and battered. They came piping hot and were crispy on the outside. The portion was nice and big. I enjoyed the fries. The orange juice was just regular orange juice, but I liked that I wasn't limited to choosing a soft drink. I eat meat, but I'm an equal opportunity eater, lol, so I wanted to try Odd Burger. I think it's a great option for vegans and vegetarians who miss eating at fast food burgers chains. For meat eaters I don't really see much advantage over regular fast food burgers chains. I mean it's not any healthier in terms of fat and sodium content. I suppose it might be better for the environment (?) I didn't find the taste that "wow" or anything. Maybe I'll like the chickpea patty better. There's not too much seating at this location. Just 4 tables for 2 which can be combined to make 2 tables for 4. Service was courteous and efficient. I do like that it's a Canadian chain. It even started off in my home province, Ontario! Street parking only. Review #131 (2025)

It's not all vegan, but our server told us that except for cheese in some dishes, the menu was pretty much all vegan. Unfortunately, they're also doing away with mocktail mixers, but I was able to get a nice mocktail. My boyfriend ordered the "Cheerful," a take on a TLT, while I decided to order a crunch wrap filled with Beyond crumbles, pico, and other fillings. It's clearly a take on the fast food place with the bell. We both decided to get the belle poutine. I tried a bite of the TLT, which was sort of a pita pocket, and it was pretty good. I liked my crunch wrap, but it got cold very quickly. I sadly was not a fan of the poutine, which was a vegan cheezy sauce and gravy rather than curds, and there wasn't enough gravy. For a casual place, the price points seemed a bit high. Still, if I'm in Ottawa again, I'll go to a Pure Kitchen (there happens to be on in the neighborhood where our hotel is), but I'll get regular fries instead.

The Long Version: District Deli opened up around March 2025 in the space that was Bismallah Pies (was Charlie's Groceteria before that). My husband and I dropped by to pick up a sandwich to share. The sandwiches are all named after nearby streets, which really gives it that neighbourhood feel. All meat sandwiches are $13.99 and vegetarian sandwiches are $12.49. You can also build your own for $13.99 where you can choose 2 meats, one cheese, and whatever vegetables you like. We went with the build your own option. We got roast beef and prosciutto cotto, fresh mozzarella and lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, pickled onions, pickled eggplants, and roasted red peppers, with a bit of honey mustard. The sandwich was really good. The bread was fresh, as were the other ingredients. It was a bit pricey in my opinion, but this is in comparison to other similar sandwich shops with $8-10 sandwiches (like 50 Two Sandwiches or Shorty's Sandwiches), but they are in industrial parts of town, so I get it, rent in Hintonburg is higher. District Deli only has cold sandwiches. No hot sandwiches, at least not at the time of the writing of this review. Service was courteous and efficient. Street parking only. Review #118 (2025)
