I had heard about a new vegan fast food joint and was not expecting it to be Odd Burger. I thought Odd Burger was just another burger joint in a long line of burger joints in town and decided to skip it since we have so many local spots to support. A friend of mine let me know about this and I decided I had to try it since it had something that resembled a better version of fries supreme! I walked in and the place was small. I was checking out the tvs with the menus and went to order at the counter but they only take orders through their machines. The machines kind of suck if you place a large order as you can miss choosing an option and you can't check out. It wasn't obvious so make sure if you can't add your order to double check you've made a selection for everything! I ended up getting a smash burger combo with a fries supreme. I got home and started making my way through this whole vegan meal. I have to say, I really enjoyed the fries supreme. Would get again. I took a bite into my smash burger and yup, pretty decent burger. The menu is pretty extensive. They have "chicken" options, breakfast options and pizza now as well. I'll be back in the future to try some other things.

Di Rienzo's - Prosciutto and Havarti sandwich. $10.

This sandwich is literally the reason I downloaded this app…read more I've just spent the whole winter in Quebec and am now hitchhiking across Canada and decided to stay in Ottawa a few days. I booked 4 nights at the Saintlo jail hostel and when I came downstairs after a rejuvenating nap I saw that they had a list of recommendations sitting amongst a pile of other plastic sheets. Dirienzo's - the best ITALIAN SANDWICH in the city. I'm not really an Italian sandwich sort of person normally, maybe it was contributed by the burgeoning like for cured meats that I was acquiring after eating dried salami as my only source of food for the past week or so -- but who's going to pass up the chance to try the BEST of anything? I got there after taking 2 buses and was starting to become a bit concerned. I had $40 in my account and was hitchhiking across the country -- after all it was labelled the BEST in the city and that would normally come with a hefty price tag. When I first opened the door I instantly got greeted by the guy behind the counter, which made me feel welcomed and at ease. I looked up to view the selection of sandwiches that they had on offer and potentially the cheaper ones. I was surprised to see the sign that said $10 for ANY SANDWICH!! #booyah I was finding it hard to decide on which of the sandwiches to get since they all looked so appetising, but decided on number 16. The sandwich was massive for the price that it was. The bread was a perfect mix between durable so that it wouldn't fall apart in your hands, but soft enough that it was enjoyable, with the amount of bread contemplating he rest of the fillings just the right amount. I was pretty overwhelmed to be honest with how good it was. All of the ingredients including the lettuce (which I've found is usually the first thing places will skimp out on) were extremely fresh. I put in my coworker groupchat: "Anyone coming over across Canada after the season has to make a stop in Ottawa if they aren't already just to try one of these." Accompanied by a photo of my eyes watering with glee. My Nonna is always telling me how I need to learn Italian to be more connected to our culture and I've always just kindof brushed it off since I haven't needed to use it and we don't speak it much at home, but this has made me so proud to be Italian. As I continued to eat the sandwich sitting on a bench looking towards the city and the people playing basketball in the park, I found myself contemplating staying in Canada and raising my kids here in Ottawa so that they get to experience it themselves on a warm summer afternoon after picking them up from school. They have a Brew Bar. Funny story, my brother loves A&W and used to work near this location before it opened up. He lamented how he wished there was an A&W near his work so he could go there for lunch. Shortly after he stopped working there, they opened up this A&W, haha. It's a relatively new location. I think it opened in 2021 or 2022. I've been to this location a few times. It's around the corner from a Winners (my favourite place to shop) and my husband has been known to go in and grab a Buddy Burger or two while he's waiting for me to finish shopping, lol. Their food is consistent, the space is clean, and staff are friendly. They recently launched their Brew Bar at this location, so now they also sell Root Beer slushies, fruit smoothies, creamy shakes, frozen lemonade, cold brews and lattes. We were there during this launch. They had a DJ playing tunes, the place was decorated with balloons and they had a spin the wheel game set up out front to win A&W merchandise. I won a bottle opener and my husband won a frisbee. We also got coupons to try a free small drink from the Brew Bar. I got the Strawberry Smoothie and my husband got the Acai Mixed Berries Smoothie. The regular price is $3.99 each. The smoothies are made by this automated machine. It's fun to watch. The smoothies were good, but a bit too sweet for my liking. They are made with real fruit puree, but I'm certain there's added sugar. The Mixed Berries one had a bit of an artificial aftertaste, which the Strawberry one didn't have. I feel that this location is more for people who live or work nearby or tourists or if you're already in the area doing something else. There's no parking. Street parking is hard to come by and not all that close. It is right by Parliament Station though, so easily accessible by public transit. This location is open 24/7.
