You almost don't want to eat it for fear of ruining the look - almost.. The owner Naronge can customize your order for spicyness. Don't like spicy - no problem.. Now I usually come to Khao Yum for their lunch specials and often don't look at the menu. I just order the Pad Thai. Recently I asked Naronge to suggest something different.. OMG am I glad he did. The light curry chicken is very nice. I had it served with noodles instead of the traditional steamed. rice. Now I have two favourites... The restaurant is small with perhaps seating for 20 people but that adds to the atmostphere. It is very clean and pleasant. I suggest trying it for lunch but they offer Take-out as well. Call ahead and pick it up on the way home.

Some vegetarian, and a few vegan, options were possible. We ordered: -tom yum goong soup; -satay appetizers; -eggplant and beef dish; -mixed vegetables; and -rice. If you're sensitive to heat (spices), you'll want to ask them to add zero fresh chilies. They didn't add much to my dish, but enough to give it a kick. My husband didn't notice that. Nice decor.

This is hands down the best massage experience I've had. The level of attention, care, and skill is on another level. You can immediately tell this isn't a routine massage -- it's targeted, intentional, and truly therapeutic. I went in carrying a lot of tension, especially from long workdays, and opted for a combination of Thai oil and hot stone massage. It was exactly what my body needed. The pressure was perfect, the techniques were incredibly effective, and the results were immediate -- I left feeling lighter, looser, and completely reset. What stood out the most was the attention to detail. Every area that needed work was addressed properly -- no rushing, no shortcuts. Just real, quality care. I won't be going anywhere else. Highly recommend.

The duck dish was tender, flavorful, and absolutely amazing, while the pad see ew (padsew) had those wide noodles cooked just right with great wok hei. However, we loved every bite and would highly recommend this spot for anyone craving delicious Thai in the area.

One of my favourite places to go for Thai food that is still central but not situated downtown…read more It is a decent sized restaurant tucked away in a plaza at the corner of Alta Vista Drive and Bank Street. It has a very nice ambience inside due to the mix of decor and table placement. It is intimate yet casual. Even when the restaurant is busy, it does not feel cramped nor rushed. I have come many times during lunch with a group and the service is always excellent and the food is amazing. Everything is always flavorful and the staff and kitchen are really helpful with ensuring those with dietary restrictions are taken care of. If you have a large group (10+), I would recommend calling ahead and reserving a table, but there was once when we had last minute change in plans and even though it was busy, the staff was very accommodating. Be aware that because this is a smaller plaza in a busy part of town, parking can sometimes be an issue, especially during lunch time. The pricing of the food is no more or less than what is expected of a sit-in place but I think for the quality of everything you get, it is a great deal. There are also lunch specials which is easy on the wallet but you also get good portions (they definitely don't skimp). I recommend the green curry dish (as pictured is the beef version), pad thai, and drunken noodles.

The soup, Tom Yum shrimp and coconut Tom Yum shrimp was the best, not too salty and the spice was just right. Main dishes-Curry chicken with coconut milk and potato: the meat was over cooked. Beef Penang: the beef was over cooked and tough. Pineapple fried rice with seafood: it was good and has nice curry flavour. Pad Thai: part of the dish was salty. Papaya salad: the dressing was too spicy and lacks the sourness to balance the dish. Garlic shrimp: was supposed to be garlic fish, but the server forgot to tell us ahead they don't have fish. There was only one server at the restaurant that night and we waited almost an hour after the appetizers for the main dishes to arrive. I gave the server credit for trying her best to serve every table. Overall, the appetizers were the only highlight for the dinner.

This is my absolute favourite Thai restaurant in Ontario. I keep trying out other Thai-specific…read moreplaces, and I've yet to find one that matches up with Thum's Kitchen. Once upon a time, this restaurant used to be a very small kiosk located alongside a rural road in the small village of Moose Creek. It was very popular as a take-out sort of venue, and the menu was far more limited back then. Eventually, the family expanded and moved their business out to the city of Cornwall, taking over a large Bavarian-style building that has housed a litany of restaurants that never seemed to stick around for very long. Not so for Thum's, however. This place is a cornerstone in Cornwall. It's very popular and if you plan on going on the weekends and evenings later on in the week, I suggest you call in and make a reservation just in case. The hours are a little strange, and there's been a few times I've driven down there on a whim only to find out it was closed (I'm one of those lazy persons who doesn't bother to learn businesses' hours of operations. I know, I know!) This place is authentic. The decor is extensive with a lot of unique pieces from Thailand. Not your typical travel posters and framed prints. There are huge carved wood sculptures, 3D reliefs on the walls, etc. The tablecloths are culturally-inspired, the silverware is unique enough that I've had to restrain myself from pocketing an elephant-ended fork on more than one occasion. Lastly, the music is good, and the clothing worn by the servers is traditional Thai, as well. It's an entire production, to say the least, and it's lovely. The menu is probably the most extensive I've witnessed as well. It's also peppered with little anecdotes and factoids about Thailand, including country facts, food and eating customs, and do's and don'ts of etiquette. The food itself is amazing, I've sampled and had several of their dishes over the years, but I am going to personally confess that I ended up going for my own personal sweet, sweet addiction- red curry. They make a mean Gang Dang. In fact, I haven't even found this specific dish anywhere else, nor have I had a dish with bamboo shoots in Ontario that wasn't from a can *except* at Thum's Kitchen. They use fresh, and it's an entirely different creature all together. Buttery yet crisp at the same time. Oh yeah, baby. Bathrooms are downstairs and are suitable and serviceable enough. The only downside I can find about this place is that it doesn't seem to be wheelchair accessible. I may have missed a side or alternate entrance, though, so don't take my word for it on that-- call first and see because I may be wrong on that note.

We came here on a Saturday night right when they opened at 5 pm…read more We were happy we got there early because while we were waiting for our meals the restaurant was almost full house. We noticed that there was only 1 waitress for the entire restaurant which made it abitt difficult to have the best service. It felt like she was running around back and forth taking orders and all. We wanted more water and hot sauce and it took us over 20 minutes to grab her attention. Food wise it was good but not the best. We got the chicken sticks, the mango salad and the chicken pad Thai. The chicken sticks were way to spicy because of the curry, the sauce that came with it was not enough. I loved the mango salad, it was very fresh, I would definitely order this to myself when I come back. The pad Thai was to my liking aswell but if you don't like sweet I don't recommend getting this because this dish is pretty sweet. The portion are very big for the price you are paying. We shared the 3 plates and we were full at the end, we each paid 25$. This place is good for groups and to share food. They don't seem to have an online reservation option but for big groups it's preferable to call before.
