    Green mango salad
    Michelle Y.

So good. I can tell this place is authentic because everyone working here is Thai. The green mango salad is the best I've had in Ottawa. Pad Thai is a very big portion and on the sweeter side. Green curry is spicy and tasty. The chicken inside was thin pieces instead big chunks so it was very flavory, the bow doesn't look big but the portion is actually pretty good. The eggplant and tender bamboo shoot were also very yummy. We also had a hot and spicy soup with coconut milk (forgot the name) and was pretty good as well. The shrimps in all the dishes were large and tender, I ended up eating a dozen of shrimps, making me very full lol. I would definitely come again!

    Khao soi

Really lovely Thai place that felt authentic and cozy. The waitress was wearing the ethnic outfit and it was very lovely to be served with so much culture. Now as for the food, almost everyone in our group agreed that the food was tasty and satisfying. I ordered the khao soi, which is easily my favourite thai dish and so i became a bit picky about it. But i have to say this khao soi was yummy . The coconut soup was a light yellow colour and had heat and sweetness and flavour. I would have liked it a bit more if the noodles were a bit more al dente, but overall it was good. Still I would come back to this place next time I am in Ottawa :)

I got the Chicken Pad Khee Mao ($12) and it was excellent. It had a lot of vegetables, which I loved. It had broccoli, carrots, bell peppers, Bok Choy and bean sprouts. The vegetables were all dente which I liked. I normally don't like bean sprouts and I forgot to ask to have them omitted, but it ended up being ok, because the amount of bean sprouts was not excessive and they tasted ok. The chicken was lean chicken breast slices. The thick rice noodles were a good texture, soft but not too soft. The flavour was also excellent. It had a bit of spice but it wasn't too hot. The noodles also weren't too oily. They fry it up in a wok when you order it, so it's very fresh. My friend had their iced tea and a few appetizers and she seemed to enjoy them. The couple working the stand were very welcoming and friendly. Note that the prices at the Farmers' Market are a bit less than on the restaurant menu. Not sure if the portions are smaller, but I think it's a great way to try their food for a bit less. I really enjoyed the Pad Khee Mao and I'm looking forward to trying more items from them.

Maybe the definition of being a foodie should include finding the food stand's brick-and-mortar store after devouring great food and drink at a market. It's exactly what we did. It makes sense if we aren't at the market on weekends. We can get our Thai fix here. I ended up getting finger food from this eatery at the market. I ordered a pork wonton and a shrimp spring roll. The man at the stand was so nice that he gave me a pork wonton on the house. It was a nice surprise and I will never say no to free food. I also got a Thai iced tea. Drinks were self-serve once you got a cup from him. I made the mistake of pouring sala cider instead. Oops! He was great getting me another cup and I made sure that I got Thai iced tea, which was cold and excellent on a hot day. It's funny that I ended up having both drinks. I loved my pork wontons. They were crispy on the outside. The filling was nicely seasoned. I could taste basil, which made them heavenly. There was decent shrimp filling in the spring roll, which had a nice crunch to it. My friend got the chicken pad khee mao. She loved it. She said that it had bean sprouts, which aren't her thing. However, there weren't a lot of them and she ate them all. I didn't have a chance to volunteer to eat them. The food was that good! I want noodles now. I hope to get some when I'm back, along with more finger food. (265)

Plenty of take out/delivery orders while we were there but we were the only diners until 6pm. We ordered the veggie Thai spring rolls, sticky rice, tofu and bok choy red curry, and chicken pad Thai. I must say it was 10x better than my lunch! The place is quaint, with fuchsia/burgundy chair covers. It was a quiet Saturday night for them. I ordered the green curry with veggies. It didn't come with rice, but I was ok with it. I can drink the broth like a soup. There was lots of variety of veggies and it came hot. The broth was not salty at all which is excellent since I treated like a soup. My partner had the chicken pad Thai. The sauce was not overwhelming and was not sweet at all which was nice. They didn't forget that he wanted extra crushed peanuts. Overall it was a nice satisfying dinner to fill my tummy since the last two places were a disappointment (Blue Cactus and El Camino).

I've been wondering if anybody had khao soi in Ottawa since my return from a month over in Thailand…read moreand an extended portion of that in Chiang Mai. After searching around for reviews all over the place, Wandee sounded like they had some had khao soi that was as good as you find in Chiang Mai. Parking in the area is plenty but free parking might be harder to find, either way, lots of parking. It looks like it's mostly a pickup counter and they have a picnic table setup outside and a few other tables. Staff are super friendly. I placed my order oh khao soi and took it to go. When I got home and popped the lid, it smelled pretty nice but looking at the order, I felt like I might have got the wrong order. I poked around in it a little bit and there were definitely noodles in it. Did the taste test...honestly, I'm not sure what it was but it tasted like they may have taken a yellow curry dish and tossed some noodles in it and sent it to go. Wasn't a fan of their khao soi as it was lacking any depth or intensity. It was extremely thick and creamy as well. If this is just their yellow curry, I don't think it's for me. May try a different dish if I return but definitely won't get getting this again.
