Shrimp spring rolls were excellent, soup okay , red curry pork dish was tasty but we were left wondering why the 7 inch dish we received it in was only half full at a price of $18.95 is it too much to expect a full serving? Pad Tai with tofu was tasty but the noodles were way overcooked and clumpy. First time trying this place , maybe an off night for them based on previous reviews? At $78.56 for a take out dinner for two we expected better portions and better food! :(

Not the most glamorous location, but the food, ambiance inside, and the lovely owners are worth the visit.

    Seafood Grill - Seafood Paella

I really like The Seafood Grill--it's perhaps one of my favourite seafood spots around in Ottawa…read more The ingredients were fresh and delicious. Although the portion was not the biggest for its price (I got the paella and two spring rolls, which ended up around 50 dollars for me), they were filling, and the seafood ingredients were very solid. The paella was super delicious, especially the chorizo sausage bits. They were bursting with flavour, which really complements the other seafood. My friend got the Tony's Bouillabaisse, which I thought was delicious too (although I don't think she liked it all that much). The spring rolls were super yummy. They were fried to crispy perfection and filled with steaming hot shrimp, crab bits, and lettuce. It was super fun to eat, too. My favourite thing about The Seafood Grill was how freshly cooked every single dish was. All three dishes came out steaming hot, which I knew they had prepared freshly in the back. All seafood restaurants should do it like The Seafood Grill as the gold standard. I think I'll be back next time I'm in town, especially if I can visit the Kanata area. I really want to try their fish and chips and all the other dishes. Great service (I loved the cold water). The vibe was fun (tho there were a couple of flies, which I assumed were inevitable in the middle of summer).

I've been here for my bday gathering, on a date, with a friend for wine and appies, with many friends on any given day. It's always special. I recommend my faves... Prime rib, as rare as possible. A twice baked spud. Sirloin steak. A baseball sirloin. Salad.. all the appies. All the veg. The mushrooms Neptune's have a real soft spot in my heart. The wine list is decent and they make a great Caesar drink. I lived in the States for too long and would miss this place all the time! Now... it's just down the street and I'm so grateful! Any night at the Keg is a good night!

Super friendly and patient with us since we had LOTS of questions about the menu. She kept reassuring us about the different cooking methods of steaks, offering suggestions, UGH she was just such a girl boss. They also give a complimentary pie on your birthday? Which anything that's for free- count me in. But idk why it's called a pie when it's like an ice cream cake? Either way, it was GOOD. As for the environment, it was very spacious and comfortable seating but was pretty dark inside (which makes sense for a fancy/"high-end" restaurant)- if anyone has vision problems, you might need assistance. Also weirdly enough, although I consider the Keg to be a higher-end restaurant, they have quite a few "booths" which we didn't expect to see- it's giving diner and Swiss Chalet (which there's nothing wrong with). I had my 6oz cooked medium and it was the perfect colour, tenderness, and juiciness! But all in all, the steak was nothing overly special and I've probably had better- the price wasn't bad for it though like $36

The food is high quality - often locally sourced and organic. Dahl soup was tasty, with just a hint of heat from the spice. Chicken taco filling was tasty but... and I think this is where I'm struggling... I am realizing that I really don't like soft tacos. Something about the texture of the taco itself puts me off. I'm sitting here trying to decide if I'm being fair giving them a three because of my preference for taco shells. I guess what I'm saying is: take my review with a (proverbial) grain of salt. Would love to see a garbage can and recycling bin put out. Since they are located on the UOttawa campus during school year, plan to bus/walk to get there. (Parking is a pain during the week.) If you get off at Campus Station 2B, Sweetpea (the truck) is really close by. (Don't take my word for it though - things change, so make sure you check on that.) Staff was great. They have 2 tables and about 6 chairs for people who want to sit and eat for a bit. Would I return: Yes. I'd love to go again when it's not Taco Thursday, to try to get a different menu item. Would I recommend: Yup - if you like healthy choices that are locally sourced and organic, this is a great option.
