I went here for lunch with my parents today (as part of their tour of every pho restaurant in Ottawa, lol). The food was fantastic, prices are reasonable, service was great, and the place is bright, new and clean! We loved it and will be back. My dad had the Special Pho (Pho Dac Biet). He got the regular size ($10, small is $8.50). My mom was going to get the same thing, but decided to try their Grilled Beef and Spring Roll Vermicelli instead ($13). I got what I always get at Vietnamese restaurants if it's on the menu, Hu Tieu Nam Vang (Phnom Penh Tapioca Noodle Soup). I also got a large for $10. The server brought out my dad's pho first and I could smell it as he was bringing it from the kitchen. It smelled so delicious. My dad loved it. He said it was one of the best pho broths he's had in Ottawa. It had lots of different types of beef, and I even spotted a quail egg. The accompanying garnishes (beansprouts, basil, lime, and chili peppers) were fresh and plentiful. I had a taste of my mom's dish and the grilled beef was excellent. It was so tender, and the marinade was so flavourful. They were generous with the amount of beef too. The vermicelli was nicely cooked (not too dry, nor too mushy). The spring roll was hot and crispy and filled with ground pork, carrots, mushrooms, cabbage and onions. Overall, very tasty. I would consider getting this dish for myself in the future. The only thing that would make this dish better is if the spring rolls were made of rice paper (banh trang) instead of the usual wheat based wrapping. I love the way spring rolls made of rice paper get all blistery when fried. So delicious! My Hu Tieu Nam Vang did not disappoint either. I've had this dish a lot, and this one at The Noodle House was one of the best (not just in Ottawa, but also in Toronto, my hometown. Believe me, this is high praise, lol). I got 3 large shrimp (they were peeled and properly de-veined), 3 pieces of surimi crab, 3 slices of fried fish cake, some ground pork, and several slices of pork. The tapioca noodles were nice and chewy. The broth was really fragrant and tasty (not too salty nor not too oily). My only complaint is that the pork slices were too fatty for my tastes. I prefer lean meats, but I know that many people like fatty pork, especially in noodle soups. Our server was very courteous, attentive, and efficient. When I asked for a glass of water, it was filled to the brim and had so much ice. I was delighted. How did he know that I love ice? Anyway, he refilled it when it was getting low. They also give you a pot of complimentary tea. The tea had this delicious roasted quality to it and it was really strong. I love strong teas, so I was very happy. Like most pho restaurants, they have a caddy at each table with chopsticks and spoons, and condiments. The place is really clean (including the washrooms). The restaurant is on Gladstone, in between Bell and Lebreton. We were lucky to have found a parking spot on Gladstone just slightly west of the restaurant, but there's just street parking and I can see how parking could be difficult to find around there (Bell Street was completely full of cars). Anyway, this place is awesome. I loved it and so did my parents. Apparently they have specials that change occasionally (weekly? daily? I'm not sure). Today it was Bo Bia (a special type of summer roll with Chinese sausage, jicama, and eggs) and Bun Mam (a fermented fish soup that in my opinion is only for the brave. Personally, the smell makes me run away screaming, haha). I was really impressed to see these less commonly known Vietnamese dishes being served. The owners are really into social media and I saw on their Facebook page that past specials included Bun Bo Hue, Banh Xeo, Hainanese Chicken, and Malaysian Laksa. My mom wants to try their Bun Bo Hue, and I want to try their Laksa, so we will be back for sure. If they offered Che Ba Mau (tri-coloured Vietnamese dessert) my mom would be over the moon. She loves that stuff. Fingers crossed it will be on the menu in the future :)

How is the food? the food here was pretty good, we came to Ottawa just for the weekend, coming from Toronto. Compared to the good Vietnamese restaurants in Toronto this one is actually not too bad. I would not mind to come back here to eat again. How is the service? service is okay, nothing wrong. Anything I need to know? you may find parking slightly challenging to find depending on when you come by the restaurant. we were lucky enough to get a parking directly in-front of the shop. (owner said to also check bell street for parking) Would I recommend? Yes

First time visiting this place today. I had the chicken vermicelli and it was perfect. Rice was excellent, chicken seasoned perfectly, vegetables were fresh and delicious. We will definitely repeat. Cleanliness: 5/5 table was clean, floors were cleaned, decor is fresh and modern. Food: 5/5 everything about it was delicious. Service: 5/5 got help with menu, dishes pretty good. Would repeat: yes

This restaurant has been open for 3 months; I decided to try it after seeing the beautiful presentation pictures on Facebook! There is free street parking outside and on the smaller streets, and also free WiFi (ask for the password)! The restaurant owner is Chinese and really sweet. He told me about the Wifi and answered my questions about the restaurant politely. When I asked for an extra fish sauce for vermicelli, he cheerfully agreed. He also checked up on us while eating, and thanked me, and told me to get some candy while paying! What I tried: - Chicken pad thai: a good portion size, and nicely salty, a bit sour, and a bit sweet. There were pieces of fried tofu which was yummy, and I chose to add chicken. However, pretty plain; I definitely prefer the vermicelli more! - Shrimp vermicelli: Always ask for an extra fish sauce, as it makes a huge difference in taste! The pork springrolls were perfectly crispy and hearty as there was a lot of meat in the filling! There were 5 pieces of shrimp that were butterflied and grilled, and they were delicious! In hindsight, ordering meat would of probably resulted in a larger portion of meat. There were pieces of mint mixed with the lettuce which lent a really fresh flavour! In addition, the onion was pickled, which added a good touch of sour. I really enjoyed this and would order it again! The interiors are really new and clean, and the washroom as a result, is extra clean. I would come back to try their specialty soups (which I hope they have more often)!

Hidden gem around the corner from our Air BnB on Bronson. Pad Thai was great and the beef/chicken noodle soup was amazing.

It was our first-time trying it because the original restaurant we wanted to go to on Somerset was closed, but we were definitely not let down. They open at 11:30 on the weekend and we were a bit early but the staff was super friendly and accommodating- letting us sit down, browse the menu and even place our order before they "officially" opened. Out of all the dine-in korean restaurants we've tried so far in Ottawa (which I know is quite limited and most aren't authentic- but that's not to say they aren't good): Alirang, Maht, Daldongnae, etc. This is definitely top tier AND we will be coming back. As a small business, they are generous with their refillable complimentary side dishes (which is so yum), the flavour HITS, and the service is so good and welcoming. They kept checking in with us, turned down the volume to the TV that we were sitting under, and kept refilling our tea. inside the restaurant is also quite spacious and has comfortable seating arrangements. They have a good selection and apps and also noodles which are more individual meal portions but we decided to share and try everything. On Tuesdays, they have yakitori and I would love to come back to try that. The scallop crudo was lightly seasoned and fresh. I feel like it could have used a bit more citrus but overall it was good! The Korean fried chicken wings/drums were saucy, with something that tasted like a gochujang based sauce, as well as a ranch with dill. I didn't really taste the miso in the ranch too much, but I did enjoy the flavour profile. We also had the chicken karaage, which was lightly breaded and fried, and paired with a mayo. It was ok but a little plain. Next, we had the dan dan noodles. Dan dan noodles are traditionally very chewy have a nice bite to them but these noodles are a bit on the softer side. The flavour profile was good though. Lastly, we had the beast ramen. The smoked pork belly was nice and crisp and the soft boiled egg was nicely cooked. The noodles seem to be the same ones used in the dan dan noodles. It was enjoyable but the broth wasn't exactly ramen broth that I am used to. I would say that overall it was enjoyable, and prices were reasonable. Service was great. But there is definitely some room for improvement on the dishes. I would consider this more Asian fusion than a noodle bar.

We ordered on the screen with the help of the owner/manager. The Vegan Spinach Mushroom Tofu dumpling were amazing. The outer layer so thin and perfectly steamed and filled. With Hot Chili Oil - absolutely the best. The Vegan Pad Kra Pao with Tofu bought back memories of Chiang Mai Thailand. The flavours to the mark. The spice level incredibly balanced. The serving size was equally disappointing - too less. Definitely not enough as a meal. Never tried Thai style Tacos and was blown away by this fusion. Both the vegan Five Spiced Tofu with Hot Chili Oil and Vegan Portobello Mushroom with Ginger Peanut sauce was what we needed. The freshness of the ingredients, the crunch of fried onions and garlic, onions and tofu. Again just two tacos for $12 is a bit on the higher side IMHO.
