we waited 40 minutes for our order. It was very busy and there was allot of take out orders. However, we didn't mind waiting 40 minutes for our order since the food was so good. It was actually the best Pho noodle place I've been too.

Some decent pho here. Not a lot of room for seating but if you can get in I don't think you'll be disappointed. I ordered the rare beef ( I get it on the side) and tendon pho with a shrimp spring roll as an appetizer. The pho was quite flavorful and the shrimp spring roll although looking quite dark, was quite good with big chunks of shrimp inside.

Ottawa has plenty to choose from when it comes to Vietnamese food in Chinatown. I actually believe there are more Vietnamese restaurants so it should be called little Saigon instead of Chinatown. On the eastern end of Sommerset is Saigon boy Noodle house. It's a simple little restaurant inside decor is similar to your standard Viet restaurants. The menu offering is Vietnamese pho soups, rice dishes and vermicelli noodle dishes. Your standard fare. On my visit I went with a Bun vermicelli with grilled chicken and fried pork spring roll. I also ordered some extra spring rolls plus an avocado shake to go. The vermicelli was awesome. Lots of crispy fresh veggies with noodles and the mix of meat and spring rolls. It's one of my top ten fave meals. They do a strong above average version here at SBNH. Spring rolls were on point! Definitely a place to hit up if you are in the mood for some solid Vietnamese in O-town! You shan't be disappointed!

We opted for this restaurant since our plans had changed and we were in a bit of a rush. I found that waiting times here for food was a bit slow. We got the shrimp fried spring rolls and the Thai fried spring rolls. Both were underwhelming and didn't taste special. The chao tôm (ground shrimp paste on sugarcane) was not sweet enough and tasted very bland. I also found that the colour was not vibrant and orange like regular shrimp but instead looked more pale. The Pho I ordered was the Saigon Boy bowl. I assumed it was the one that had the assorted meats and toppings. The portions here are pretty big. Upon tasting of the broth, I found that it was slightly sweeter than what I preferred and not salty enough. The aroma was there though. All in all, this place is not bad for a Pho restaurant.

Great prices and a nice atmosphere as well as a solid offering of noodles. I got the chicken soup egg noodle with pork and Shrimp. The protein and noodles were excellent though the broth left me wanting at first till the fried garlic and chili had released their flavours. The meal seemed a lot healthier than other pho offerings with less salt, recommended for the health conscious who want a clean place with great service to eat.

Visited Ottawa today for Canada and decided to check out Chinatown with the fam. Came across this spot and we were lucky despite our big family. It was pretty difficult to serve our table(s) but they pulled through. As for the food, it was great. Nice portions, great taste, assortment of sides that come with the rice plates was good (especially the pickled carrots and onions). Looking around at the pho bowls, it looked like that would've been a good choice also. Pretty good overall.

Great food & ambience -- usually I expect Chinatown restaurants to be bustling, this one was quiet. I got a vegetarian pho (item 39 on the menu), and some vermicelli rolls (that I didn't quite like).

I have been having a hard time finding a good pho restaurant to eat in Ottawa, and I think I have found that place. Saigon Boy Noodle House is a great place if you just want a comforting bowl of pho for a nice meal. Their broth is simply amazing, and I have not had a decent pho broth for a good while. There is a good ratio between broth ,noodles, and meat. The prices are very reasonable for each size of pho. The interior atmosphere is very pleasant and simple. If you want a bowl of pho in Ottawa, this is the place to go.

This cute little place is close by Chinatown in Ottawa. The service was good and attentive, the broth and meat is good. I'm giving it a 3 because they don't use fresh rice noodles that I'm use to back in Toronto. They use the dry noodles that can be bought at any Chinese grocery market. Perhaps, Vietnamese pho restaurants in Ottawa all use those noodles. All in all, the portion is good.

The place was very steady but we got one of the few remaining tables. The menu has a lot on it and there is another, separate menu for specials. The complimentary herbal tea was nice and hot for a very cold day. Ordered was a pho for me, extra spicy and my friend got a beef and veg dish and they subbed her noodles for rice upon her request and accommodated her peanut allergy. The food was good, also. I ordered us shrimp spring rolls to start, 2 to an order. Very good. $6. The entrees... My broth was nice, albeit mild. Not that clovey taste I've experienced at other places. My pho had shrimp, beef and chicken. It was a house specialty so it only came in a medium size. This was fine as I ordered extra noodles for $2.50 to go and had some at home for dinner tonight. And, it will feed me for lunch one more time tomorrow. The containers were leak proof and the liquid survived the drive home. The staff were unobtrusive yet attentive and kind. Said to be family owned and that everything is homemade. I'll return! I love Vietnamese food and love supporting these places. I will avoid weekends though as I was told people are lined up at the door for seating. Was it the best I have ever had? No but it fit the bill and I'm glad I live close by as there are 100 other dishes I'd like to try.

Found this place on Yelp and a good star rating and I was happy with the results. It's located at a large strip mall quite a ways away in Barrhaven - hence the name. Grabbed takeout at 8:15pm and it was good. Got 2 orders of spring rolls which were still very crispy when we got back from the 20 min drive. A little on the greasy side but they had fried it up fresh. The house special combo had shrimp, beef, pork and chicken - a decent amount of protein and tasty. While parking, I searched the strip mall to find a spot for me to order food. Barrhaven Vietnamese Restaurant popped out among all the other chains. I called in an order for pickup. When I arrived the place was moderately busy, but i was greeted immediately. The restaurant itself is very cute and cozy. I will definitely be back for lunch or dinner. As we were walking out, my children noticed someone eating pho and even requested we come back. I ordered the Vermecelli with chicken and I am so grateful I did. There was so much chicken and the noodles were perfectly cooked. Even the salad was green and fresh, along with cucumber that had been cut into tiny strips. It also came with two fried spring rolls. I prefer regular spring rolls, but they were delicious, very crispy and flakey. I prefer my vermecelli completely mixed, so I added the dressing, shut the takeout box, and shook it up. This made it easier to have noodles, greens, and chicken with every bite. I was too hungry to think to take a photo, but will add some on future visits. Definitely recommend and will absolutely be back!

The beef was really tender and flavourful. I did get a fatty and gristley piece though :( but on the most part, the beef was lean. The chicken was lean and a tiny bit dry, but still flavourful a tasty. The shrimp were medium sized and ok. Not that plump nor juicy, but for the price, not surprising. The spring roll was mostly wrapper and too oily for my liking. The rice dish came with fresh cucumbers and pickled radishes and pickled carrots. The vermicelli dish came with shredded lettuce and bean sprouts, which were underneath the vermicelli. It also came with pickled carrots and crushed peanuts. The fresh vegetables were fresh and the picked vegetables had a good sour bite to them. We also got a tub of fish sauce, which neither of us like, but my dad does, so I saved it and gave it to him on the weekend when I went to see my parents. I appreciated that they labelled the fish sauce with a warning to open slowly (with a smiley face, lol). Food is packed in styrofoam, which is not my preference for environmental and health reasons. Service was very courteous and efficient. I was told it would be 25 minutes. I returned in 22 minutes and they were just tying up the bag. Perfect timing! Note that the prices on their takeout menu (pictured) are outdated. My dishes were listed as $9.50 each on the menu, but I was charged $11.75, which is still a great deal. Prices have gone up as a result of the Covid Pandemic, so I get it. I would just suggest that they print new takeout menus. The restaurant is a little off the beaten path in Chinatown. Street parking only.
