Rice with pork chop and Vietnamese sausage

One of the best rice dishes I've ever had. Their food and service is 5 star level. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

Vegetables for my pho. Lime was going bad & where's the jalapeno?

This experience wasn't all that great, when we walked in, I'm assuming the owner was looking at is like what are you doing in here. I had to ask if they were open because no joke the staring contest went in for several minutes. Eventually we at where we wanted and the guy dropped of the menus and went back to playing with a bunch of kids. After several minutes he brought over some tea, no idea what kind it was because he didn't say. Mind you at this point he still never asked what we wanted to drink even after I inquired about coffee he just kinda walked off. So after some time we had to motion for him to come back over & finally we put our orders in. I ordered the rare beef pho and my dinner companion got the lemongrass chicken and asked to make it spicy. Didn't take long for our food to come out and once it did my pho was hot so I dressed it to give it time to cool adding the sprouts, the 4 leaves of basil, and the lime that was going bad (see pic). I added the appropriate sauces and everything came together and it was actually pretty good. Another small complaint the meat wasn't that great of quality, maybe it was my batch because I had to keep spitting the meat out. Also we had to flag someone down & ask for water.

Calamari! We already ate a bit of this one so the order is even bigger than this and SO good!

I throughly enjoy the food at this Pho restaurant. I have been here a few times with friends and my husband, and each time the food is top notch. It's a smaller restaurant with plenty of seating and while it could perhaps use a few updates, I think it's great. The dishes are inexpensive and amazing - makes looking past the surroundings very easy. The Pho is phenomenal: pho-nomenal! The broth the beautifully seasoned and each dish is obviously prepared with care. The Calamari is excellent as well; maybe a slightly more unusual dish in a Pho restaurant but it's a must-have. I also recommend the tofu rice wraps and a friend of mine raves about the sister soup. Sister soup is a bit spicy but amazing. Top pick for me - it's our regular pho destination!

I don't know if I've had better pho somewhere else. After trying all the different pho restaurants in Ottawa, it's become difficult to remember which one was just "meh" against which ones were good. They have started to all blend in together! (Probably doesn't help that BF is Vietnamese and we make pho at home sometimes *when we aren't lazy*.) Came to this pho house on a Monday night because it was closer than going to Chinatown. It's a small restaurant in a plaza and there's plenty of parking. We walked in and took a seat at a random free table. There was only 1 waiter (around 6pm) but the service was quick. The bowls of pho we were served seemed fancier than elsewhere. The way the ingredients were pilled in the middle of the broth was prettier than I had seen in other restaurants. That was unusual but welcomed. And it was delicious! The beef broth wasn't too sweet nor too salty, it had good beef flavor. The beef was good and there were just enough onions and noodles. Will return! Highly recommend for anyone in the area.

Pho with rare beef, tripe, balls!

This is one of my favourite pho spots in Ottawa! Their broth is rich and flavourful and not too salty. I usually will drink lots of broth before digging into the meat and noodles! - I've also tried their spicy soups and they are well made! - Their fried rice paper roll appetizer is also delicious. -Tea is good too (some places have tea that is too weak or tastes old; it is always fresh here)! -Service is quick and efficient!

Was offered very little and very unfresh raw basil leaves.

I came in on a weekday lunch and the restaurant was no more than half full. You would expect at least decent service but I got close to no service at all. I had some serious concerns about their hygiene and poor service. See posted photos. Really nothing special about the food either. One earlier reviewer mentioned about the complex favour of their broth. There was really nothing complex about it especially when compared to the real complex favoured broths found in Ossington Street in Toronto. It just tasted less salty but nothing that special about the broth or the food at all. I had their house special beef pho. It was average except that I must admit that their rare beef was more tender than many other pho places in Ottawa. I had the spring roll too. I always love to order authentic Vietnamese spring rolls made with rice paper instead of spring roll paper. There are not that many places in Ottawa doing it the right way. Nevertheless, I was disappointed by theirs.

So nice to have a delicious pho place in Barrhaven. Service is always fast and polite. Lemongrass chicken skewers were especially good.

Prices are a tad higher than other places but the portion sizes are generous to match, especially the meat. I had the #47 Hủ tiếu thập Cẩm -- aka Chicken broth rice noodle soup with everything: Satay Shrimp, Shrimp Cake, BBQ Pork, Tofu, and Ground Pork. I love the fried shrimp cakes so I often order this kind of soup when it's available. It was perfect and I can't wait to go back! My greedy eyes always want to order the Large but this Medium was perfect and the most soup I could possible fit into my belly. Service and ambiance are both good. Booths are a little cramped so your feet will interfere, and there are some mildly obnoxious flashing festive light strings. But it's easy to overlook those hiccups because the food is spot on. I can also recommend the rice dishes from previous visits!

The place was very steady but we got one of the few remaining tables. The menu has a lot on it and there is another, separate menu for specials. The complimentary herbal tea was nice and hot for a very cold day. Ordered was a pho for me, extra spicy and my friend got a beef and veg dish and they subbed her noodles for rice upon her request and accommodated her peanut allergy. The food was good, also. I ordered us shrimp spring rolls to start, 2 to an order. Very good. $6. The entrees... My broth was nice, albeit mild. Not that clovey taste I've experienced at other places. My pho had shrimp, beef and chicken. It was a house specialty so it only came in a medium size. This was fine as I ordered extra noodles for $2.50 to go and had some at home for dinner tonight. And, it will feed me for lunch one more time tomorrow. The containers were leak proof and the liquid survived the drive home. The staff were unobtrusive yet attentive and kind. Said to be family owned and that everything is homemade. I'll return! I love Vietnamese food and love supporting these places. I will avoid weekends though as I was told people are lined up at the door for seating. Was it the best I have ever had? No but it fit the bill and I'm glad I live close by as there are 100 other dishes I'd like to try.

Found this place on Yelp and a good star rating and I was happy with the results. It's located at a large strip mall quite a ways away in Barrhaven - hence the name. Grabbed takeout at 8:15pm and it was good. Got 2 orders of spring rolls which were still very crispy when we got back from the 20 min drive. A little on the greasy side but they had fried it up fresh. The house special combo had shrimp, beef, pork and chicken - a decent amount of protein and tasty. While parking, I searched the strip mall to find a spot for me to order food. Barrhaven Vietnamese Restaurant popped out among all the other chains. I called in an order for pickup. When I arrived the place was moderately busy, but i was greeted immediately. The restaurant itself is very cute and cozy. I will definitely be back for lunch or dinner. As we were walking out, my children noticed someone eating pho and even requested we come back. I ordered the Vermecelli with chicken and I am so grateful I did. There was so much chicken and the noodles were perfectly cooked. Even the salad was green and fresh, along with cucumber that had been cut into tiny strips. It also came with two fried spring rolls. I prefer regular spring rolls, but they were delicious, very crispy and flakey. I prefer my vermecelli completely mixed, so I added the dressing, shut the takeout box, and shook it up. This made it easier to have noodles, greens, and chicken with every bite. I was too hungry to think to take a photo, but will add some on future visits. Definitely recommend and will absolutely be back!
