And many spots to sit outside in nice weather. Baked goods are hard to resist. Small but mighty selection. Everything is good! Coffee is reliably well made, and the cozy seating area is great on a cold day. What I love about inside is the low key quirkiness, from old hair salon chairs to snow shoe art, I usually spot something I've never noticed before. They do also have a small light lunch type of menu, and anything I've ordered from that has been tasty. Staff are top notch - well versed on the product, always genuine, and efficient. It's a little gem hidden away in the neighborhood. In summer, parking can be a challenge, and the ice cream line looks daunting. But good things come to those who wait, and the line moves at an efficient pace.

Service was courteous, and we appreciated the fact that an employee came out to wash down the tables periodically.

Of all the coffee shops in town, I believe I like Bridgehead food and beverages the best! This location has a unique shape (but what doesn't, at Pinecrest!) - it's sort of a lopsided U-shape; lots of windows with tables snuggled up to get the best of the sunlight. And plenty of seating. It was quiet here this evening, with only 2 other patrons at separate tables. Surely they get busy during the day, even with the competition in easy walking distance - including Ikea!! The staff was friendly and helpful, even suggesting a less sweet maple latte, and recommending the discount pastries. They're open 'till 9:00. I look forward to coming back!

From the beautifully decorated walls with cherry blossom paintings to the owner's very own toy collection (which im incredibly jealous of), my inner child was satisfied! They have very special tasty drinks and food on their menu. The bubble egg waffles are made fresh and slightly warm, pairing well with the cold scoop of vanilla ice cream and chocolate drizzle. The smoked salmon also was not fishy whatsoever and OUUU don't get me started on the deluxe chicken waffle sandwich. It was our first time trying it and we thought the chicken would we wrapped in an egg waffles shell, but surprise! They added a very warm and soft bread ON TOP of the egg waffle. Tbh i'm usually not the biggest fan of plain white bread and was afraid that it'll be stale or chewy, but I'm gonna hold your hand when I say this- it was literal perfection. Beyond the soft chicken, inside the sandwich has pickles, lettuce, and mayonnaise. The dirty coffee was also so YUM, but it can be pretty heavy. It's sweet from all the chocolate drizzle and slight cream on the top, but pairs well with the coffee at the bottom- just make sure that after you take the first sip, to stir well! But warning- might not be ideal for those who are black coffee fanatics and don't have the biggest sweet tooth!

Ended up getting the pistachio and Dubai chocolate croissant. As for the drinks, we got the matcha and the Hojicha with espresso shots. In the past we had to go to several locations in the city to buy some of coffee blends that we preferred. Back in January we came across an article about Personal Service Coffee in Kanata that offered over 500 varieties of kcups. My wife and I visited the store and were in total amazement at the setup and the selection. There Wall of Coffee is really amazing, It's like a candy store experience but for coffee drinkers. What I personally like about Personal Service Coffee is the fact they have such a huge selection of kcups that no one else in the city offers. Plus they offer some really nice premium blends that are definitely not available anywhere in Ottawa. The super cool factor about buying coffee there is that they offer individual kcups, that means yo can mix and match any variety of coffee you want. My wife prefers the milder blends, I however prefer a more rich and bold coffee. They have fair trade coffee and blends from all over the world. We usually pick up a box of a preferred coffee like the Nantucket blend from Green Mountain but I then mix and match on Sumatran, French Roast, Blue Jamaican, Kona, and a few others. Nick and Louise are the owners and they go out of their way to make you feel welcomed in the store. Oh and before I forget, every time you go to Personal Service Coffee you are offered a free coffee of your choosing, freshly brewed for you on the spot, yikes, I love it. I waited a few months to make a comment about them because I wanted to see if they were going to live up to their promise and so far not disappointed. If you live in the Ottawa area especially Kanata and the surrounding areas like Stittsville, Carp, Nepean the drive is quick and well worth going there. I told a few friends on the other side of Ottawa in Orleans and they said it was really worth driving for the selection. Anyways, this was a good find and a much needed store because the other places selling kcups are so tied into the limited choices that are just boring and finally we can choose and pick like our US counterparts can, a real treat. for me its even better because I live just minutes away . . .yippie. The place is family-run. They offer you a free hot drink when you come in, whether you have spent money with them and only came in to look around. A great way to try something before you buy it. I found the prices to be very reasonable and you don't have to buy the whole box. You can mix and match different coffees. The variety of blends and roasts packaged in KCups is the greatest I've ever seen.

TL;DR/The Short Version: Independent coffee shop in…read moreWestboro. Minimalist interior. Good selection of baked goods and they also sell coffee, lol ;) The Long Version: The Bower Coffee Company opened up about a year ago in the summer of 2024. Usually I like trying out new businesses that open up in my neighbourhood, but admittedly I'm not a coffee connoisseur. I doubt I'd be able to tell the difference between a $50 cup of Kopi Luwak and a cup of Folgers instant coffee, lol. So coffee shops don't really excite me. However, I recently learned that Bower Coffee Company sells baked goods from a business called Adam Bakes. I've been wanting to try treats from Adam Bakes for a while now, but they are only open on Saturdays 8am-12pm and not in my neighbourhood, so their limited hours have prevented me from trying them. I didn't realize that they also sold their baked goods to other businesses for resale, so when I discovered this, I planned a little coffee date for my husband and I at The Bower Coffee Company :) I chose a Cinnamon Swirl Blondie from Adam Bakes ($4.85) and my husband chose a Peanut, Peanut Butter and Chocolate Chip cookie from Art-Is-In Bakery ($5.25) and we got a regular 12 oz coffee ($3.25). The coffee tasted like any other coffee to me (unsurprising, lol). My husband is more of a coffee connoisseur than I am and his comment was it was a bit too watery, but otherwise ok. I loved the Blondie. It was rich and I think there's cheesecake swirled into it because it had creamy bits to it. It had a potent cinnamon flavour. I really enjoyed it and so did the hubster. I ended up hauling my butt out to Adam Bakes the following Saturday morning to try their other offerings, which weren't available at Bower Coffee. Adam Bakes will get its own review. I noticed that the prices are cheaper buying directly from Adam Bakes than at Bower Coffee, but I guess that's not surprising. The cookie was unremarkable in my opinion, but the hubby enjoyed it. It had whole peanuts in it as well as peanut butter and chocolate chips. It was soft and chewy, and the whole peanuts gave it the occasional crunch. Service at Bower Coffee was great. The barista asked me for the Blondie if I wanted a centre piece or an edge piece. I know some people like the crispiness of edge pieces, but I prefer the softness of centre pieces, so I was happy to be asked. The decor is clean lines minimalist. It's not a huge space, but has a decent amount of tables. It was bustling on a Sunday morning. Overall, a nice place for a coffee date, albeit a bit pricey in my opinion, but I get it, everything is expensive these days :/ We walked there, but it's street parking only for those coming by car.
