I like that the meat was lean, but it didn't have that firm texture that I like with smoked meat, it had a more deli meat texture. Nonetheless it was flavourful and smelled delicious. I wouldn't describe the sandwich as jumbo, but it was an ok size, not small. The rye bread was fresh and the amount of mustard on the sandwich was acceptable (not too much, but not skimpy). I really enjoyed the fries, which were really crispy. The coleslaw was regular mayo-based coleslaw. Service was friendly. There are a few tables to dine in. This location has been many restaurants over the years. Prior to Markie's it was a Greek place called Babinos (which was so good, I was disappointed that they closed), and prior to that it was a sandwich shop called Robz (was meh IMO), and prior to that it was a Chinese takeout joint called Ho-Lee-Pow (never tried), and before that it was a location of the famous Chinese takeout chain Ho-Lee-Chow (didn't need to try, lol). It's been 5 different places over the last 13 years. When I started writing this I thought the turnover was high, but now that I think about it, I guess it not too bad. The location is in a strip mall with a few other food places (Mr Sub, Gabriel Pizza and Shish Kabab House). Lots of free parking.

My Nonna is always telling me how I need to learn Italian to be more connected to our culture and I've always just kindof brushed it off since I haven't needed to use it and we don't speak it much at home, but this has made me so proud to be Italian. The quality of the sandwich was amazing - the bread was light and fluffy, a ton of meat, fresh veggies, great sauces, just incredible quality. More importantly, fantastic value for money. Even more importantly, the staff were wonderful - they chatted with us but kept the line moving - super professional and friendly.
