Music is good, but too loud! We need to raise our voices to chat, and next day we both feel have sore throat. Lights of patio is way too bright for having alcohol! Kinda kills the mood. If cut down half of the light bulbs and change some of them in colored lighting would feel much better. Don't you think? A little pricey for most of the bottles. Service is good ! Very busy.

Customer service and ambiance: Walked into this restaurant and they were able to accommodate our big group of 7 people. Staff was very friendly and I have to say, I loved their outfits. The music they were playing was incredible which contributed to the great vibe. We ordered appetizers which came pretty fast but had to wait 30 minutes for our main dishes. It did take a long time (which they warned us about) but the food was fresh and amazing. Food: First, I loved that the online menu had pictures to go along with each dish. I tried the braised pork belly- the meat was caramelized and slow braised in fish sauce, served on rice. Comfort food at it's finest. It was simple but tasty. For starters, I had the saigon sliders- the bun was warm and fluffy, and the meat was nicely marinated. I also tried the papaya salad which was shredded green papaya, carrots and fresh mint. This was simple as well, but such a good salad. It was refreshing and something I could eat all day Drink: I ordered the ume sour which was basically a whisky sour. Very satisfied

Saigon is my new favourite spot in the Byward market for such a fun vibe to go out with friends! Their tacos and beef tartar were my favourite dishes on their delicious menu and their cocktails were superb also! The service was so friendly and delightful! I'm going back there soon and I'm so looking forward to it!

A bit of a disappointment. You can get better choice elsewhere at more affordable prices at Bayward market. We ordered a large beef noodle soup and coconut lemon chicken with vegetables. Good sized portions but definitely no innovation in taste and presentation. $$-$$$. Difficult to park- no new discoveries here.

Was there on the first day of the reopening, food was amazing, we ordered twice! Great service and patio and amazing food!! They are very accomodating (can exchange rice and vermicelles or shrimps instead of tofu! ) Loved it.

Yup! My vermicelli noodle bowl with chicken and beef was really good. It was just the right amount, it was delicious, and it was light. Left this restaurant feeling good. We started with shrimp spring rolls. All was very good. Was a great choice after walking around the market.

The non-fried fresh shrimp spring rolls were very good. You could tell they were freshly made, with a hint of fresh mint leaves, which I like and not all places use mint leaves. The peanut dipping sauce was pretty good, not the best I've had. I felt the rolls were a little heavy on the solemn noodles and light on the good stuff. The other condiments available were very good. Overall, the spring rolls get three stars. I also ordered the large bowl of Pho noodle soup. They offer beef or chicken. The large was more than enough. They also have an extra large which I'd have to say one person probably couldn't finish that off unless they were really hungry. The soup came with bean sprouts, Thai basil, limes and various sauces. The broth was very good but my bowl literally had two small pieces of over cooked beef. Very disappointing. They get two stars for the soup. The service was good; restaurant was clean and comfortable. The menu actually looked good and they had some very nice combination plates that looked really good, so I may give this place another try next week.

Authentic Vietnamese Pho House - B009 vermicelli bowl with grilled shrimp and spring roll

Mid week, lunchtime, first time. Had always been curious to eat here. Grabbed a neighbour to come…read morewith, also her first time and we had a nice meal. The place was very steady but we got one of the few remaining tables. The menu has a lot on it and there is another, separate menu for specials. The complimentary herbal tea was nice and hot for a very cold day. Ordered was a pho for me, extra spicy and my friend got a beef and veg dish and they subbed her noodles for rice upon her request and accommodated her peanut allergy. The food was good, also. I ordered us shrimp spring rolls to start, 2 to an order. Very good. $6. The entrees... My broth was nice, albeit mild. Not that clovey taste I've experienced at other places. My pho had shrimp, beef and chicken. It was a house specialty so it only came in a medium size. This was fine as I ordered extra noodles for $2.50 to go and had some at home for dinner tonight. And, it will feed me for lunch one more time tomorrow. The containers were leak proof and the liquid survived the drive home. The staff were unobtrusive yet attentive and kind. Said to be family owned and that everything is homemade. I'll return! I love Vietnamese food and love supporting these places. I will avoid weekends though as I was told people are lined up at the door for seating. Was it the best I have ever had? No but it fit the bill and I'm glad I live close by as there are 100 other dishes I'd like to try.

Found this place on Yelp and a good star rating and I was happy with the results. It's located at a large strip mall quite a ways away in Barrhaven - hence the name. Grabbed takeout at 8:15pm and it was good. Got 2 orders of spring rolls which were still very crispy when we got back from the 20 min drive. A little on the greasy side but they had fried it up fresh. The house special combo had shrimp, beef, pork and chicken - a decent amount of protein and tasty. A somewhat small restaurant but still had a few tables of patrons at that time. The staff were nice. Plenty of parking.

While parking, I searched the strip mall to find a spot for me to order food. Barrhaven Vietnamese Restaurant popped out among all the other chains. I called in an order for pickup. When I arrived the place was moderately busy, but i was greeted immediately. The restaurant itself is very cute and cozy. I will definitely be back for lunch or dinner. As we were walking out, my children noticed someone eating pho and even requested we come back. I ordered the Vermecelli with chicken and I am so grateful I did. There was so much chicken and the noodles were perfectly cooked. Even the salad was green and fresh, along with cucumber that had been cut into tiny strips. It also came with two fried spring rolls. I prefer regular spring rolls, but they were delicious, very crispy and flakey. I prefer my vermecelli completely mixed, so I added the dressing, shut the takeout box, and shook it up. This made it easier to have noodles, greens, and chicken with every bite. I was too hungry to think to take a photo, but will add some on future visits. Definitely recommend and will absolutely be back!

I've been on the search for a good banh canh after having the most amazing one in Vietnam. However,…read moreit has been a hard search because most places don't sell this item so I came here just for this item. It was good compared to others I've tried but still missing a flavor in the broth. Service was quick. The guy who gave us the menus handed us with a paper to write down our order but didn't speak which was fine because we understood what we had to do. Everything was cooked as we ordered and the vegetable spring rolls were amazing and piping hot when they came out. We couldn't even eat/touch them until our main dishes came out. They were also quick to refill our waters as well. Interestingly enough, the guy who handed us our menus actually finally spoke perfect English when we went to pay. This was a good local spot which consist of actual Vietnamese owners/cooks. There was also a group of Vietnamese ladies who were definitely regulars.

The beef was really tender and flavourful. I did get a fatty and gristley piece though :( but on the most part, the beef was lean. The chicken was lean and a tiny bit dry, but still flavourful a tasty. The shrimp were medium sized and ok. Not that plump nor juicy, but for the price, not surprising. The spring roll was mostly wrapper and too oily for my liking. The rice dish came with fresh cucumbers and pickled radishes and pickled carrots. The vermicelli dish came with shredded lettuce and bean sprouts, which were underneath the vermicelli. It also came with pickled carrots and crushed peanuts. The fresh vegetables were fresh and the picked vegetables had a good sour bite to them. We also got a tub of fish sauce, which neither of us like, but my dad does, so I saved it and gave it to him on the weekend when I went to see my parents. I appreciated that they labelled the fish sauce with a warning to open slowly (with a smiley face, lol). Food is packed in styrofoam, which is not my preference for environmental and health reasons. Service was very courteous and efficient. I was told it would be 25 minutes. I returned in 22 minutes and they were just tying up the bag. Perfect timing! Note that the prices on their takeout menu (pictured) are outdated. My dishes were listed as $9.50 each on the menu, but I was charged $11.75, which is still a great deal. Prices have gone up as a result of the Covid Pandemic, so I get it. I would just suggest that they print new takeout menus. The restaurant is a little off the beaten path in Chinatown. Street parking only.
