I've been wanting to try Wandee Thai Cuisine for some time now and finally got around to getting lunch takeout from them today. Overall, the food was excellent, and staff were friendly and nice. I did find the prices a little on the high side though. I got a lunch combo and with taxes it came to $18.05 (and I didn't even get a drink). In my opinion this is a bit pricey for lunch, but others may be of a different opinion. I got the Lunch Combo #2 (which is $15.95 before taxes). This came with a vegetable spring roll, Beef Penang Curry, Chicken Pad Thai, and Jasmine rice. The spring roll came separately in a bag, but everything else was in a round takeout container that was divided into 3 sections. The spring roll was nice and crispy. It had cabbage, carrots, and taro in it. The Beef Curry had some red and green peppers in it as well as slices of beef. The curry had a rich peanut taste to it and was overall very good. The portion size wasn't that large though and most of it was sauce. The Pad Thai had a nice authentic Thai aroma to it and the flavours were much more complex than at fast food Thai places like Thai Express. I asked for no bean sprouts and they had no problem accommodating this request. I didn't get too many chicken pieces, but I still enjoyed this dish. It had some eggs in it and was garnished with peanuts, basil, and cilantro. The rice was fine, no complaints there. The ladies working there were really pleasant. Lots of smiles and "thank yous." The place is small. There are seats if you want to eat in, but the restaurant only seats 12. And if you eat in you will be surrounded by hoards of people coming in for pick-up and takeout. This place is popular! They do have some picnic tables out front, so if the weather is nice you can eat there outside. This place is in Little Italy, but not on the main drag that is Preston Street. It's just off Preston. There's only street parking, and the street parking nearby is all paid/metered parking (unless you come in the evening or weekends then it's free). If you're ok to walk a bit, there is some free street parking during weekday daytime hours (1 hour limit) on smaller side streets.

I had a craving for flavourful, spicy food, so I made a dinner reservation here on a Sunday (they only have about 10 spots inside and 2 picnic tables outside, so highly recommend a reservation)! I tried these dishes: - Pad thai (with chicken, not spicy): the sweet flavours were more predominant than salty/sour, so probably not for everyone. But still tasty! I wish it came with more veggies; compared to the pad kee mau, it didn't have too many toppings and I felt like it was the least value pick. - Pad kee mau (with chicken, 2 chilies by default): this was probably my favourite; the assortment of colors from the vegetables and the spicy sauce made for a satisfying dish! I only wish portions were bigger. It also lacked charred bits sticking to noodles from the wok, which I was hoping for. If this was present, it would be five stars! - Nuea ta krai (crispy beef stirfry): I was excited for some seriously crispy beef, but the dish was just slightly crispy, although flavorful. It was still very tasty and satisfying, if you want something fried! Spicyness: personally, I found 2 chilies a good amount of heat, but I still craved more spice (I'm a masochist when it comes to spice); so next time I'll ask for 3 chili peppers! Service was friendly and quick enough, and you can watch the cook make the food as it's an open kitchen. I felt as though the chair height was too high for the table, which made for a slightly uncomfortable dining experience.

What beautiful Thai food! Quite a gem this one is. Fragrant, colorful and very tasty Thai dishes. Small place, seats about a dozen people at most, they seem to keep quite busy with a steady flow of take away. The staff were very friendly and respectful. Will go there again and again!

Many excellent menu choices!

Soooo Wandee-ful! Omg - yum! I phoned around to a couple of different Thai food places, asking the same question I always ask: do you use MSG in your food? I'm used to having no luck finding any Asian food without MSG, but much to my joy, they said no and I rushed right over with my excited but empty belly. And guess what? The flavours were so delightfully genuine, all the food made with quality ingredients into savoury, sweet, and floral deliciousness! I was astonished to see real dried jasmine strands throughout the dish, infusing the whole thing with that subtle signature flavour. Periodically, a delivery guy would come in dropping off fresh ingredients to the ladies cooking behind the counter. The dishes are a very generous size, so my manfriend and I were stuffed to the gills. Next time, we'll just share one appetizer (the spring rolls are crispy crunchy perfection) and one main dish. I recommend the pineapple shrimp! Their prices are very affordable, especially when you're sharing. The all-woman show that runs the place is just lovely - it was immediately apparent that they are total pros, and have a really nice kitchen dynamic together. Really pleasant service, and good vibes all around, making the food just that much better. I could easily become a regular here!

Red curry served with rice

I don't get to eat Thai food too often. But I loved the Thai curry at this place. I have celiac disease and when I told the server she understood right away and told me what to stay away from on the menu. I had the red curry that was served with pineapple. I'm also vegetarian, and when I told the server that they changed the dish for me which was so kind (I think they usually serve it with shrimp but they swapped it for more veggies). The red curry was creamy, very filling. It wasn't as spicy as I was expecting it to be but it was also spicy enough so it didn't become overpowering. This is a really small place, so if you can book a table - do it. It has a fast environment. Most people come in to pick up their food rather than sit and eat. But I was with friends. The wait for food was hardly noticeable. Service was quick and nice. The only downside is that because it is a small place, the weather outside permeates throughout the restaurant whenever someone comes and goes. So if you are eating here during the winter, it's best to keep your coat on. I recommend it for sure! Preferably during a warm day. I want to go back and try all the curries.

Welcome to Ottawa Spread......thank you for coming…read more Spread is of the farm to table concept and the owner Jules comes from a catering background in Toronto where she owned Pan Bagna Catering which specialized in France and Italian lunch cuisine. She moved to our glorious city - to get away from the ridiculousness of Toronto (my words) so if you work anywhere downtown you can order from their awesome menu which includes the following sandwiches.....Roast Paprika Chicken with a Creamy Dill, Lemon, and Honey Coleslaw or how about Pastrami, Sauerkraut and Russian Dressing......I opted for this one. Super fresh and great flavors. My sandwich came with the Potato Chips and homemade Three Onion Sour Cream and Pickles Dip.....ok I will confess the Philly Sour Cream Dip you buy at Beckers is one of my secret go to's.....I could kill a whole bag of ruffles and that dip. This dip kicks the crap out of that times 100.....i'm glad I can't buy this at Metro or I would weigh 500lbs by xmas. The onions are perfectly caramelized to add such a sweetness to the dip.....ummmmm - I may need to order some tomorrow. and the pickles.......ok, I hate dill pickles.....always have, but apparently they have changed me.....they make their own, and it's a combination of sweet and sour - very crispy and sweet.....nummy. my dessert was their butter tart......I have a weakness for butter tarts and they certainly stepped up to my tart fetish, and for the record their homemade butter tart is $1.50....pretty sure I've paid double that before. They are set up to supply lunch for your office - they will be doing their deliveries via bike courier, so for the "green" people out there that should make you happy. Get some people together in your office and give these girls a call or tweet them @spreaddelivers enjoy Ottawa,

The bread is from Nat's Bread Company (delicious) and was topped with a fabulous ham (maybe a sweet pancetta?). I savored every bite. I was actually sad when I finished it. :-/ Potato chips were nothing special - but - they came with a great dip. Enjoyed those too. - though honestly I was over-full by the time I finished everything. Things to know: They will cater. They will also do a thing where they drop by with an assortment of sandwiches and people can buy what they want. All in all, loved the product - and the service. Would I recommend: Yes Would I return: Yes - as in, if they came to our office again, I'd be happy happy happy

The Long Version: I happened upon Insomnia Cookies during their Grand Opening on December 6, 2025 while walking around The Glebe. I got the Double Chocolate Mint Classic Cookie $3.45 to try and it was tasty, but nothing too special in my opinion. I like creative or unusual flavours and their entire lineup was regular flavoured cookies. The cookie was served warm and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. However, I can't say I really enjoyed it any more than cookies from the grocery store or Costco, lol. The space was bright and clean. Insomnia Cookies is American and at the time of the writing of this review they only have 4 locations in Canada: Toronto, Hamilton, Kingston and now Ottawa. I was happy to try this brand as I had never had it before, but I'm unsure if I will return for more cookies, since I'm interested in more unique flavours if I'm going to a specialty cookie shop. I do want to try their ice cream though ;) The store is in The Glebe. Street parking only. Review #230 (2025)
