What is up with the Billings Bridge Shopping Centre food court? It's exclusively mega chains (Thai Express, Tandori, Teriyaki Experience, Manchu Wok, Subway, New York Fries, Tim Hortons, and McDonald's) with the exception of Shawarma Andalos, which has a few locations throughout Ottawa, but not as big of a name as the other places. Although the food places are chains they are on the whole, worse than other locations, in my opinion. I try to avoid eating at the food court at Billings Bridge, but recently I was there running some errands and was starving, so I got some food at Thai Express.
I originally wanted the Drunken Noodles, and despite them having a huge picture of it and it listed on the menu, they told me they don't serve it :( So I got the Pad See-Ew. I was going to get the chicken, but saw that the only vegetables it came with was Chinese broccoli. I know how food court food goes: a tiny bit of protein and a whole lot of carbs and fats, and I didn't want to eat a dish that was mostly noodles, so I asked what vegetables the Vegetable Pad See-Ew came with and was told "carrots, peppers, nappa cabbage, broccoli, baby corn and onions." This sounded reasonable, so that's what I ordered.
It was still mostly noodles :( I got 3 tiny pieces of baby corn. It was more like fetus corn, lol. And 3 small broccoli florets, 3 slices of carrots, and 3 slices of green peppers. I had more pieces of cabbage and onions though. And there was scrambled eggs in the dish. I was expecting more vegetables.
Also the noodles were oily and the sauce had too strong of a fish sauce smell for my liking.
Sad face :( read more
