The establishment is great, Sorry to me that's a waste of food, I ordered a pound of wings, great , but there was two of these carrots.

It's Friday, music out side was done by 9:30pm. Empty stage looking sad inside. Karaoke could of taken place inside, stand up comedy could of taken place. Response, Manager said too much effort to get inside stage going. No creativity to increase revenue and to keep people from leaving the Establishment to go elsewhere. I didn't know picking up a phone was a hard thing to do. So much potential for this Establishment but I just see laziness.

Had a great date night! Sat at the bar and watched the bartenders in action. Nacho's are hit and miss in most restaurants but these are going on my list of preferred nacho places in Barrhaven for sure! Massive mountain and very good cheese to chip ratio. Always a fantastic on tap selection of local brews. Favourite spot in Barrhaven!

I had dinner here with my husband and we really enjoyed it. Food, service and atmosphere were all great. I love that they have Happy Hour 7 days a week. Most places only have it Monday-Friday. We were there on a Saturday. They have selected beers on tap for $3 from 3pm-3:59pm, then $4 from 4pm-4:59pm and $5 from 5pm-6pm. Happy Hour is 3pm-6pm. During this time tacos are also $3 each. I had the Taco Platter with a side salad ($12.95) and my husband had the Canadian Burger with shoestring fries $15.95. For their fries you have the choice of shoestring fries or regular cut fries. I thought this was awesome because I love shoestring fries!! My husband also tried their Greenfields Blonde and Greenfields Amber beers. He thought they were good. So the tacos change daily. Saturday is steak tacos. They usually come with jalapeno peppers and sour cream, but I asked them hold these, so my taco was just steak and pico de gallo. It was still pretty tasty. The steak was good, not tough or chewy and it was done medium well. I love that the taco shells were corn tortillas (not yucky flour tortillas). They held up pretty well and didn't fall apart. The side salad was great. It was real mixed green with carrots, cucumbers, and grape tomatoes. They also sprinkled some fried onions on top which provided a nice crunchy texture. I got the house dressing on the side, which tasted like a Golden Italian dressing. I would love to come back on a Sunday and try their Lobster Tacos! Needless to say, I had some of my husband's fries. They were good, but a tiny bit too crunchy for my taste. I prefer them to be a bit softer on the inside. My husband enjoyed his burger, but it was really juicy and big so he had to eat it with a knife and fork part way through. It had Canadian bacon, cheese, onions and mushrooms in it. I had a tiny taste and it was too greasy/fatty for my liking. I definitely preferred my own meal. Our server was Brendan (or Brandon, sorry I'm not sure which) and he was really nice and attentive and checked up on us appropriately. Most people were on the patio since it was a nice day, but we sat inside so it was quiet in there (which I prefer as I like to be able to have a conversation without having to yell or talk directly into someone's ear). We got a booth so we had more privacy too. This place is a bit tricky to find. It's in the same strip mall as Pharma Plus and Food Basics, but it's behind the back towards Larkin Dr. There's lots of free parking.

After a Halloween event where we were outside for hours - I just wanted to have a nice meal near my house. We got to Greenfields - haven't been in a while and I liked it the last time. It was Friday night. There was a band playing. We just wanted to eat. No interest in music. But there was still a cover charge. They wouldn't let us in unless we paid the cover. Fuck me. Can't remember if it was $5 or $10. Either way it was BULLSHIT. Anyway. We paid the bullshit charge and sat down. Cute waitresses. Decent service. Measured drinks. Food was nothing special. Chicken cheesesteak. Fries were good. Wife and the two others we were with (can't remember what they had) but none were overly impressed with their meals. It was fucking loud as hell and I had to pay cover for a band I didn't want to hear. Sorry - that's bullshit. Yeah, I'll still return because I want to support local businesses. Just don't make me pay cover when I want to sit as far away as possible from the band.

We haven't been to Greenfields since the renovation but decided to go today and it was AMAZING. The food was really impressive. I honestly don't think there's anything quite comparable in Barrhaven. I mean I can't say enough about how incredible the food was. I got French onion soup as a starter and the fish tacos as the main with a house salad and both were incredible. I find most restaurants over-salt their French onion soup but this one was perfect and the fish tacos were deliciously tangy and perfectly cooked. My husband got the steak stew in a bread bowl and I tried some and it was phenomenal. ATMOSPHERE: Whoever did the redesign did a fantastic job. It's sort of rustic mixed with industrial, making for a very inviting and warm space. It's too bad they're not more visible from the street. They'd probably be packed every day if they were. Have yet to go at night, interested to see what the Friday night vibe is like.

This is the second time we've eaten dinner here, and the experience was better than the last. Reservations were made for 630 on a Friday night. We arrived at 630 and were greeted with a smile and seated promptly. Food quality was superb. Service was excellent from our server. It's so nice to have a decent place to get great freshly prepared food so close to home.

Since reopening the new menu and chef are on point. The live music draws in a new crowd each week. Great staff and atmosphere.

It doesn't come to mind when you think of a place to go to listen to music, but it has some great bands come through. Now, keep in mind a lot of the bands the come through are punk bands. If that isn't your style of music, I don't think I would suggest heading to The New Bayou. As a bar, it's....well it's...I don't actually know. Once you find the place (it hasn't much of a sign out front) you walk down the stairs and meet The new Bayou. There is a bar, and it is limited. Beer, your standard booze, and that is about it. The bartenders are there, but don't expect them to be making Gin Martini's in a dirty glass. they have a limited staff, so don't expect table service either. The first time I went there I was told to come back again on that Friday because the girl bartending was also going to be body painted. Soo, is this a bar, a music venue, a burlesque house? It sounds like a dump, right? No. It's not. It is unique though. there are not a lot of places you can walk into that not only have a stage but a set of couches straight out of 1986 and a big screen TV playing a dinosaur movie from the '60s. Are you confused yet? You should be. That is exactly what The New Bayou is, a very confusing but enjoyable place. Leave your worries at the door and take it all in. You'll quickly become accustom to the venue. Once that happens you can enjoy the music. there is a lot of punk bands that go through and for some reason they can bring in some fairly notable bands, if you're into Punk. Remember SNFU, they play The New Bayou, along with bands from throughout North America. I don't know how they do it, but this little hole in the wall is able to create its own little place in Ottawa's music scene.

Ever been along Bank at Sunnyside late one night and heard the sound of awesome live music? No, you…read moreare not going insane. What you are hearing are the sounds emanating from the New Bayou - an underground (literally) club beneath the Framed! store. The place is small, but vitally atmospheric. Expect the unexpected - couches, weird stuff on the TVs and the hottest underground punk and alternative bands in Ottawa. It is such an oddity in what is essentially a quiet, suburban school zone (yes, there is a school kitty corner to the bar). If you are at all overly sensitive and want to quietly sip a mojito while discussing environmentally friendly cleaning products with your BFF, then you should probably go elsewhere. But, if you like your scene loud and raw and in a place where anything can happen, go to the Bayou.
