We don't eat here often enough. I say that because the food is always fantastic. You don't get charged extra for real maple syrup. The jams are made fresh - today was wild blueberry and sour cherry. Options for the Usual Breakfast were at no extra cost, such as avacodo. My boxtie was REALLY harty. It's not often that I take home what couldn't be finished. Excellent service and cozy ambience.

In the heart of findlay creek you should come to Hunter's for some great pub food. I came here with a friend and started off lunch with a flight of ciders. Very refreshing and $12.50 for 4 glasses what a steal! My chicken burger was crispy and had a nice slaw that gave it the right sweetness. My friend got the wings and said they were great! Definitely come here if you visit town!! Thank you to my server who was extremely nice and gave the best recommendations.

This is a Findley Creek staple. Everyone has a love for this amazing restaurant featuring amazing eats and drinks. The crowd favorite is the Chicken burger. Very generous in size and extremely tasty it is one you can't miss out on. The drinks are absolutely delicious. The old fashion is one of the best I have had. And the cocktails are created perfectly. Pros: This place has a great selection of beer and food. I ordered a French Onion soup to start. My boyfriend ordered Edamame to share with a friend. Both were amazing! For my main, I ordered a Steakhouse Wedge salad with steak (generally, this salad does not come with steak, it was a $6 add-on). My boyfriend ordered the Prime Rib Yorkie. Both meals were delicious and the portions were generous. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Cons: The restaurant was unbelievably LOUD. It was impossible to carry on a conversation with our friend. We were seated nearly right in front of the stage and on Saturday nights the restaurant has live music. We asked our server to be moved outside, which they happily obliged us, and we were grateful. I also did not like the "communal" seating inside the restaurant. I do not want to sit next to people I don't know. It's just weird, like being at a high school caf. Anyway, being seated outside, we had our own booth, it was quiet and we could enjoy our food, beer and conversation in peace. I would visit again. However, knowing what I know about the place, I would make reservations for outdoor seating in the summertime.

Can we talk about this place for a minute? I'm so happy! This place is the best. It's a pub style restaurant which is perfect for whoever. Whether it's a date, with friends or a family group, everyone will love it. The restaurant is low-key hipster, the craft beer selection is superior. The menu has something for everyone... pub style but with a modern twist. Portions are amazing, as is the price. Service was fast and really down to earth friendly. Plus live music on the weekends. Check out the picture I posted, I will definitely make this my go to spot for casual comfort dinning.

Update: I've been here 2 more times for dinner and an additional time for brunch...each time was great as usual! Oh my goodness I can't believe it took us this long to visit. We live walking distance to the shops and we walk by it so often. The interior decor was so cute and they have a really nice patio for the summer. On certain nights and weekend morning/afternoons they have live music from local artists and bands which really adds to the atmosphere of the place. I went here for their weekend brunch. The food is not overly priced...I would say what you would see on average. Lots to choose from on their menu. The service was good and the staff was friendly. They had these trivia cards at each table so that kept us occupied too while we waited for our food. They have large tables that are great for multiple large groups and their drink menu is amazing. I will need to come back here for dinner to see what that is about but for now I will definitely revisit for morning brunch on the weekend.

It will be four stars for the selection of beers, they have really good IPA selection. The food was ok but not the highlight. We ordered dips and chips (3/5) for starter, chip and beet hummus was good, the Oliver was too salty, fish taco (4/5) was good, kale and avocado (3/5) was ok. Service was good

This pub just opened. I went last night for nachos and wings. Wings were great. Nachos had a ton of potential. Just needed a few tweaks. They had very little cheese and were cold but tasted very good otherwise. Service was good and beer was cold. There was a live singer. Volume was just right. Nice atmosphere.

We asked, and they've only been open two weeks! It's a lovely English style pub with tin-looking walls and dark furniture - everything is new and tidy. There are booths to sit at, a long bar, and high tables near the window, so there are some nice seating options. We tried the cream of carrot and ginger (soup of the day) and it was outstanding. I tried the sandwich of the day, a roast chicken with caramelized onions on 'mediterranean' bread, which was a simple white bread with some bits of kalamata olives in it, I think. I had an option of fries, salad, or potato salad, and went for the salad, which was a pile of lovely fresh greens with a creamy balsamic on top. Another of us had the chicken leek casserole which was huge and tasty. With some tricky to find imports on tap like Newcastle brown and Old Speckled Hen, we really felt like we'd stumbled into a nice example of a UK pub in Brockville. They have a bunch of premium and imported options for beer on tap plus a reasonable wine list. Worth a stop!

The Long Version: My family and I were celebrating Lunar New Year a bit late and we made up for it by having an epic feast. Our theme was East meets West. My brother got a dinner for 6 at The Mandarin and I got the Combo 6 at Portugalos. The Combo 6 ($69.50) consisted of 1 1/2 chickens, a rack of ribs, a box of fries, a box of rice, 2 boxes of salad, 8 buns and 3 small containers of Piri Piri sauce. I loved that the chicken was already cut into pieces. The meat was tender and fall off the bone. The seasoning was delicious and had a bit of a spicy kick. I also loved that the ribs were also pre-cut. The ribs were also fall off the bone and had good flavour. The fries were shoestring fries and were good. My little neices loved them. The rice was soft and fluffy. It had a tomato flavour with herbs. I liked that the salad came with the dressing on the side. It was romaine lettuce, baby spinach, kale and shredded carrots. The dressing was a creamy green dressing. It was good. The buns were soft and fresh. The sauce was a bit on the oily side, but it had a fiery kick to it. The food was a big hit at the get-together. We got takeout, but they have a spacious dining room. I called in my order the day before and I was able to pick it up right at opening. Service was pleasant. There free parking in the plaza parking lot. Portugalos is where Olito's Cafe used to be. Portugalos has a location in Gatineau as well (which was their original location, this one in Blackburn Hamlet is their second location). Review #53 (2025)

The service is good, the server is friendly. The restaurant decor is nice with the pictures of the various places in Portugal The food is not as good as I have tried before at the Gatineau location. Not sure they are the same owner. Cataplana is very small and the sea food is not at the best in terms of freshness, I know it is difficult to have fresh seafood in Ottawa especially in the winter time, nevertheless, it certainly can be better for what we had. The steak is ok but it is not a steak house quality, this is something they should look into, perhaps go for some fine quality filet mignon and raise the price so people will appreciate for the quality of the food and would not mind of paying extra for the quality. The owner is a young couple and I think people in Blackburn Hamlet should go there give it a try to support the local business. Good Luck Portugalos hope to see you again later on in the year.
