It's always been a special morning when we got Broadway for breakfast. They're a similar restaurant to Zak's Diner; with great food and their signature Homefries (that could sometimes use a bit more seasoning). You can get their Homefries anytime, even after breakfast, but their quality isn't as good as fresh in the morning. On top of just the food, the have amazing service. The staff is always happy for a quick chat or there for a good recommendation. In terms of speed, it depends on when you come, but provided you know what you want, it can be as little as 5 minutes (the time it'd take to drive to the store). Now to the Ambiance. The place is inspired by NYC's Broadway (specifically their Musicals) so the restaurant's walls are decorated accordingly. Overall, this is one of my favourite restaurants in all of Ottawa, and probably my favourite one for eating breakfast. My only qualm is asking that the Homefries receive more seasoning, but that is something so minor that it shouldn't result in the loss of a star from my review, and similarly it only really happens when I order takeout. Edit: I forgot to mention that from what I've seen, the owners are great people. Some of their staff have worked for over 10 years (some over 20), and they still have good things to say of their bosses (the staff, I mean), which is not something you tend to see. The best broasted chicken I've ever had was at La Hoyo in Halifax which is now closed :( I'm still looking for chicken like that... The fries here are much better than at Zaki's in my opinion. The fries at Laziz are hand cut and lightly seasoned. The coleslaw here is also amazing. It's the creamy type which I usually don't like but I liked Laziz's coleslaw. The dressing is slightly sweet and they use purple and green cabbage, so it looks really colourful. There's a nice crunch to the coleslaw too. The older man who works here is very nice, but the younger guy was really indifferent towards us. The place is clean enough, as are the washrooms. There's sufficient seating and lots of free parking. It's in the same strip mall as the Mark's, Sushi Kan, and Eclipse Asian Cuisine.

My first visit was around 2007/2008 and I was not impressed at all (I got a pear and Brie flatbread and it tasted like grocery store brie and sliced canned pears on a grocery store pita). As a result, I did not return for close to 20 years. I was actually surprised that the restaurant was still around. I mean yes the location and ambiance are excellent but can it make up for unimpressive food? Little did I know that the restaurant changed ownership in 2016. So my husband has a friend who lives out of town who likes to go to trendy restaurants and he proposed that they meet at Trio. My husband was agreeable and to his surprise the food was great. He then told me about it and said the food had greatly improved. So I decided to give them another try. My husband and I went for dinner and we shared the Adventure Board ($55). It's an appetizer sampler meant for 4 people, but we shared it for our dinner. It was fantastic! I loved the variety. The Board contained: hummus, chorizo, Genoa salami, pepperoncini, pickles, pickled onions, asparagus, grainy mustard, 2 types of cheeses, fig jam, grapes, smashed potatoes, devils on horseback (bacon wrapped dates stuffed with cheese), kale caesar salad, bread, crostini and whipped butter. The devils on horseback were my favourite item, followed by the kale caesar salad, but everything was super tasty. I had the Upper Canadian mocktail ($10) which was a ginger beer based drink with mint and cucumber. It was tasty and aesthetically pleasing. My husband had a Tooth and Nail pilsner ($8.50). Service was pleasant and decor was cozy. I like that the art on the walls are from local artists and are available for purchase. What a great way to showcase local art. A little pot of rich, dark gravy on the side was a nice touch. Our waiter was pleasant and friendly, too.
